This story is too long to really write, but I need a doctor here in the US. I got banded in Mexico and all is great, however, I found a doctor here who would do the fills and I can tell he's not too interested in my welfare. I understand many doctors in the states have an attitude towards what I've done, or they have legal concerns, but it's a little scary to know there's no one here to help me should I need it. My US doctor gave me a fill that was too tight and I had to go back to Mexico to get it out due to the holidays and his lack of effort to help. In Mexico, the fill using fluorscopy, but this man did not. I don't blame him for his methods, for I know the are common. I do blame him for not being there to solve the problem. I just want a normal doctor to do my fills and who could perform any other surgery on me should I need it for whatever reason. (band slippage, whatever) It's scary not have anyone around.

I would love to have his name! I just need a doctor who understands it's not that weird in Mexico. Thank you.

I just realized in my frustration that I forgot to say where I lived. I'm in McKinney, Texas. I've heard of a Dr. Massey who might be in Mesquite and has a brother who does surgery in Mexico. Anyone aware of him?

If you go back to his web site at litenfree.com, you will gain all of your information back. It has his phone, mail etc. I was just in Mexico yesterday getting my fill fixed. Angie -
I had my band done three weeks ago today. Aside from my right side getting a little......tired....not as bendable.....I don't really know what to call it, I'm feeling great. This bothers me because I'm hoping all is well. I've done well with drinking liquids the first two weeks and the third week I've eaten mushy stuff. If was dying for something salty, so I ate a few tiny pretzel sticks and chewed them to death! I moved a little more into dipping two tortilla chips in some hot sauce and chewed them to death. I never swallowed before they were mush and I drink alot of water. I guess I'm worrying because I haven't felt a full feeling, I'm not overeating just because I know I shouldn't. I'm eating right other than those few things and I don't want to do anything to ruin anything. I feel like I could eat anything and not be affected. I feel like I could eat a hamburger and not be affected. (Mind you, I would never do that.) Maybe I don't feel full because I've not eaten to that point. Maybe it's because everything is going down into my stomach because I'm chewing so well. Maybe the band is not working and I've done all this for nothing. When I get my first fill, will that be the time I feel full because the pouch really is smaller? I feel everything is right and done well, I just don't have any of the problems others have with certain foods or problems. Is this good, or am I doing something wrong? I have lost 20 pounds so far, but who wouldn't drinking stuff for two weeks. Let me know how some of you felt at three weeks post op.

I have heard of someone getting a fill that was too tight. Actually, it was my doctor in Mexico who told me about it. He wants people to stay long enough for him to see them do well ever since he had a patient who didn't fare so well. He had a patient leave the same day of her fill who ended up getting very sick because she couldn't eat anything due to it being too tight. She actually ended up in the hospital in the states to get it looser. Her story is extreme, but at least you know over-fills do and have happened. I can't imagine any doctor who will do a fill not doing an unfill. I'm still contemplating going back to Mexico for my first fill or just getting it done here. I would like my first fill to be done by my original doctors for your very reasons. I want him to see his work and approve that it is in good. However, I might look here in case there's a problem. I have two numbers and one of them is in Houston. I'm in the Dallas area and was given these numbers. I know they both do patients banded in Mexico and the price was $150. I'll give you both numbers and you can call them to see which is in Houston. Wish Center 888-870-9474 Dr. Marvin 800-664-9177 If these don't work, I have several in the Dallas area that will do it.

I wish I could say something to make you feel better, but I am only in week three at this time. I'm sure there will be someone who has had your experience and will be able to say something to you. Don't stress too much, not that you want this, but unlike a RNY, you could always reverse it. Let that be enough to help you keep moving ahead. I find I don't stress so much if there's a way out.....and because you want this to be successful, you really have no intentions of reversing it anyway. Most likely nothing is seriously wrong, you just have to deal with the changing pains.

Thank you all for your reply's. I love this site! I am drinking Water. Of all my bad eating habits, water drinking wasn't one of them. I like water and chose it 99.9% of the time. Like so many, I just fear I've done something to cause the band to slip and mess it all up. I really can't imagine that with what I've eaten, but one never knows. If I do eat something I consider maybe not allowed yet, I do chew it to mush and drink it down with water swallowing it some with each swallow. (That's kind of talented now that I think of it.) Again, thank you all for the support. I will weigh again on Sunday. Oh, how do you get the information under your names about your weight loss to date. I've looked at my main screen, but I can't seem to find it. Angie

Banded 11 days ago...woohoo!
Kevang replied to Carrie22803's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Carrie, No way were you banded in Moneterrey on July 14th!! I was banded on July 15th by Dr. De La Garza. Who was your doctor? I feel the same way as you do about the food. I actually feel so good that I feel I could eat anything and be just fine. I've eaten some things I probably shouldn't have here in this third week, but I also chewed them to death and drank much Water. Like someone replied to you earlier, I hope I didn't do any damage. I want to get my first fill so I can see if I'll feel that full feeling. I know we shouldn't eat out of control and follow a regimen, but if I could do that so well I wouldn't have needed the band. I'm not sure if I'm going back to Mexico for my fill or staying here in Texas. I did find some doctors who will do it here. Can't wait to hear from you and what you have to say. Angie -
I went to Mexico and used Dr. De La Garza. You can view his credentials etc. through obesity.com. I was and still am very pleased with the process, hotel, hospital etc. My cost was 9,000 out of pocket and I found my own flight arrangements. FOr $9,500 they will fly you from anywhere in the United States. We live in the Dallas area and I could get a flight for $350. I can get on-line and contact them at any time, call the coordinator and get free fills for the first year. (However, you must get a flight on your own.) The doctor has over 12 years of experience because he has done the surgery out of the U.S. I don't regret any of my choice to go to Mexico.
