When your grandmother tells you, "you're so beautiful now!" Am I supposed to take that as a compliment? -

Two months from surgery and throwing up!
Mmdulin replied to Mmdulin's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
No, he didn't prescribe that. Oh well, no going back now! It's gone. And I'm glad it's gone cause I'm not sick anymore to the point of not keeping anything down at all. -
Two months from surgery and throwing up!
Mmdulin posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
For the past week and a half, everything I out in my mouth comes back up. I went to see my Doctor Wednesday and he admitted me into the hospital for severe dehydration and to see if there was an obstruction keeping food from going down. There was a small curve at the top of my stomach that was keeping food from staying down. He did an endoscopy with a balloon to stretch out the curve and into the next day everything appeared to be better. I was able to keep some Jello down as well as some chicken broth. I came home Friday but Saturday morning I woke up and threw up again and have been ever since. I'm so frustrated and family keeps pushing for me to eat something...'something needs to be on your stomach' but as you can imagine, the last thing I wanna do is eat something if I'm just going to throw it up. Last night after throwing up there was a little blood in the throw up which if course freaked me out and made me search online for hours into the night. I feel like crap and have now missed a whole week of work, tomorrow adding another day. I don't know what to do. I love my doctor but he doesn't seem to think that there is anything serious going on. I'm thinking, 'how does one survive on ice chips alone??' Has anyone else experienced this? Am I alone? Am I justified in believing that my doctor is being a little too laid back?? Help! -

Two months from surgery and throwing up!

Had my gallbladder removed last Thursday and am doing much better! Dr released me from the hospital Monday. The hardest thing is making sure I get enough fluids in daily. It's Popsicles and Gatorade for me for a while... I have a follow up appointment with him tomorrow and am hoping he says I can return to work on Monday. Five weeks out of work now, no good. And next week is only a three day work week so I should be good to go. Thanks for all the concern! Hopefully this will put a stop to my sickness. -

Third endoscopy today / stricture
Mmdulin replied to pik's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am in the hospital now for the third time due to a stricture and getting dehydrated so badly. They have been giving me Zofran and Phenergan because I am unable to keep anything down. It has not been fun! I've had one endoscopy done so far and my doctor said that there is just a very small narrowing at the base of my esophagus. I also had a HIDA scan done yesterday after blood tests revealed that my liver enzymes were elevated. The scan revealed that my gallbladder is not functioning properly so it will be removed this week after I am more stable. Right now I am so dizzy and nauseated I can barely walk. This has not been fun at all and had I known that this would be the outcome, I more than likely would not have had this surgery. I hope they are able to help you out! -

I am back in the hospital, round three. I had a HIDA scan done yesterday that revealed that my gallbladder is not functioning properly so it will be removed sometime this week. I had a PICC line inserted this afternoon for fluids and nutrients since I am still, after four weeks unable to keep anything down and am super dehydrated. This has not been a fun journey and although I know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, I am ready for this to be over and to get back to living life. Four weeks out of work, I am going broke and I thank God for insurance but worry about how much will be covered. -

Thanks. My doctor has given me Zofran along with Reglan to calm my stomach but I am still throwing up. Recent blood work showed elevated liver enzymes and bilirubin. I will have a HIDA scan this week to check my gallbladder to see if that's the issue. I haven't had a lot of pain but just over the past two days the nausea and vomiting have gotten worse. I now have blurred vision and numbness/tingling in my upper legs. I just want all of this to be over. This is going on week four of not being able to keep anything down. My body is tired. I've been admitted in the hospital twice and do not want to go back. I'm determined to go to work tomorrow! I just want some relief, no matter how it comes. Thanks everyone for the encouraging words! I appreciate them. -

I am back in the hospital now. The doctor is saying that it is just a complication from the surgery. I don't want to accept that as an answer, but I guess I'll have to for now. Hopefully I'll go home today with anti nausea meds and just wait it out at home, continuing to get dehydrated. -

I am at a new hospital right now waiting on blood test results. They also did an xray of my abdomen. We shall see what the outcome is. -

Thanks for the prayers. I didn't go see my doc this morning but he did call me in a prescription. I just took it about an hour ago along with eating some ice chips and guess what?! I threw up again!!! I don't think I have ever been so frustrated in my life. I'm at my wits end. Also, I just read the side effects of the drug and VOMITING is one of them, along with dehydration, dry mouth and infrequent urination. What the heck?! Why would you give someone a med that has been dehydrated because they can't keep anything down, already infrequently urinating because of the dehydration, dry mouth because of the dehydration and VOMITING?? It makes no sense. Please pray!!! -

They didn't give me anything. I had a prescription for Carafate which is supposed to coat your stomach but I threw that up. ???? I will most likely have an appt with my Doctor tomorrow. There is no on call Doctor as he is the only surgeon at the office.
