  1. As a law school grad and a fellow bandster, I would recommend choosing an alternate surgery date. You will only go to law school once, you will be banded for the rest of your life.....I know, believe me, I know how bad you want to have the surgery ASAP, but concentrate on your finals, you just don't know how you are going to be feeling post-op. Unless you are okay with just passing your Trial Techniques course, which I am sure that you could do, if, however, you want to get an A or a B, you may want to choose the other date. 2L I am guessing?

    Lap band removal

I haven't had surgery yet, but my girlfriend said that she had pretty severe shoulder and chest pain following surgery as a result of the gas that they use to enlarge your abdomen during surgery. They blow you up so they have more room to work with the laproscopic tools and camera. The gas has nowhere to go and it 'rises' inside of your body, causing pain in the upper part of your body. Lying down may help a little...... Hope you feel better soon!

    Surgery Nov. 12th I'm nervous

I don't have pre-op restrictions specifically, I have been doing a "multi-disciplinary surgical preparatory regimen," I have Aetna Ins. and with that I have been keeping a food journal and trying to lose before the surgery. I think I was at 268 when I started this in June, now I am down to 256, so I am down a bit. My surgeon told me that even minimal weight loss pre-op will help to reduce the size of the liver so that the stomach is easier to access for the placement of the band. What I am trying to avoid is the desire that I have currently to go out and eat all of the things that I am never going to be able to eat again after my surgery. I am super excited though, I know that I am capable of changing for good, all I need is a little bit of help you know

Away I go (pound by pound)

I also began in June of this year, and my surgery date is November 12th. It still hasn't really sunk in that my insurance company actually approved my surgery, I was expecting a denial......I am starting to get a little nervous now. I do think it's a process to ease up on ourselves, we are often our own harshest ctitics. The support you have in your family is a real blessing, and try to remember that you deserve to be happy, you ARE worth it. Nicole
