November Nymphs Summer Meltdown Challenge
cindyg1212 replied to cindyg1212's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
 Hi everyone! We had a great time at the shore and I'm afraid to get on the scale! I'll go on tomorrow first thing in the morning and see how much damage I did. My son insists on getting fudge as much as possible when we go away. He thinks it tastes better at the beach. I think he's right! We also ate way too much New England clam chowder and had lobster almost every day. Yum! Well, back to reality. If no one else has any ideas for a fall challenge, I'll start a Halloween one on Tuesday. Only a few days left for the Summer Meltdown. -
November Nymphs Summer Meltdown Challenge
cindyg1212 replied to cindyg1212's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey Foofy, there's no way I'm going to make goal. I haven't lost an ounce since my unfill. I have been up and down the last 3 lbs for 2 weeks. I'm getting a small fill on Sept. 4th. Hope that gets me moving again. This challenge is over on Labor Day, Sept. 1st. Where did the summer go? I can't believe it's almost over. Any ideas for the next challenge, anyone? I've been thinking about it and thought a "Scare off the Pounds for Halloween" challenge could be fun. That would be a 2 month challenge and take us to our bandiversary month. Then we could think of a holiday challenge till New Year's. What do you all think? I'll be away from tomorrow through Friday. I'm renting a house in Narragansitt, RI and there isn't internet in the house. I may go through withdrawal! Guess I'll have to spend more time on the beach! Judy, you mentioned that you are going to Narragansitt on the day I'm leaving. What a coincidence! Wish we were there at the same time. Would have loved to get together. I'm leaving by early afternoon. I'll check in when I get home. I'm thinking of packing my scale if I can find room in the car. It would keep me honest. Have a great week, Nymphs! -
What did he do, Wendy? Happy Anniversary!!!

Wendy, that's great! You must be very happy. Getting to lifetime on WW is an awesome accomplishment!! Your hubby sounds like a great guy to send flowers to the meeting. What a sweet thing to do!

Very funny, Bandpal. Gave me the shudders from my last fill memory!

Posted by Lindata "I never ever thought I would one day be technically 100 pounds overweight. Looking at myself, I would think where would 100 pounds come off of me? Now that I've lost some of that weight it's like blinders have been taken off - I can't believe I COULDN'T see the weight. I really believed I looked way thinner than I did. How is it that we can lie to ourselves and believe what we say?" I do the same thing, Linda. I'll look in the mirror and try to figure out where the rest of the weight will come off of. Even before I lost any weight, I couldn't imagine myself so big unless I looked in the mirror. Whenever I had to write my weight down for anything, I would mistakenly put a "1" where the "2" had to be. At least I'm back into the 100's but I still have so much to go. You're very fortunate to have married a man who loves you no matter what. I wasn't so lucky. I have seen a big change in my husband's attitude with me according to my weight. He married a slim young woman who allowed the stresses of life to affect her eating habits. I can't even blame my weight gain on having children. I only gained 28 pounds with each child which came right off. A rocky marriage, a partial hysterectomy, a car accident, and the loss of my parents are to blame for my lack of control. food became my drug of choice. Like Judy, I think it is the most difficult addiction to overcome. We need to eat so keeping the "drug" out of the house is impossible. The demons are always there tempting me. At least the band helps keep them at bay.

That's great, Jill!! I can't wait to get out of the obese category too. You'll get into those pants before you know it. The size on your pants do not matter as long as you feel and look good!
-
Judy, I'm glad you decided to stay! I think it would be impossible for me to ever weigh what I did in HS. It wouldn't look right on me now. I have a couple of friends who are super skinny in their 40's and they honestly look older than me. The thinner you are, the more wrinkles show. I would prefer to have a few more pounds on than to look older. I think that changing your goal to something more realistic is a good idea. I may change mine too as I get closer. I'll have to see when I get into the 150's.

Congrats, Robin! That's amazing!! You must feel great!

November Nymphs Summer Meltdown Challenge

:lol:If I was in my 20's, I'd worry about how "the girls" were hanging. As a mid 40's girl, I just want them to look good in my VS underwire! The unfill felt great and I was able to eat again. However, I did put back on a couple which I expected but I'm not happy about. If I can't get them off by my next appt. which is Monday, I may get a small fill of .25. -

November Nymphs Summer Meltdown Challenge

Good for you, Foofy! My weight loss has stalled since my unfill. I definitely am too ambitious when I set my challenge goals. Are you doing anything differently? -
Judy, so glad you're in a better frame of mind. The band was a helpful tool for you to get off 44.5 lbs but it was you that did it. Try to find a plan you can stick with, keep walking and I bet you can continue to lose. Please don't give up because you're unbanded. I used to manage a few Nutri/System weight loss centers about 18 years ago. Banding did not exist and many of my clients lost over 100 pounds. The ones who kept it off excercised and stuck to a maintenance plan. Of course the band makes it easier which is why we all put ourselves through hell to have one. But...we could have still lost weight without it. It just takes more discipline and persistence. I wish I was as focused as my successful clients. I wish I lost weight without the band. I counseled many people who were losing weight when I didn't have any weight to lose. Now that its me, I have a new found respect for them. I know that we are all capable of getting this weight off without the band but it makes it easier. You can still do this. You're more than halfway through your journey. Stick with us. We're all in this together.

Well, I also put back on a couple of pounds since my unfill. I did expect it. I had lost about 10 pounds in 10 days from being too tight. I waited to get the unfill until I was about to pass out from no food. I think I was only getting in about 400-500 calories/day in liquids. Once I started eating normally again, about 1000-1200 calories/day, my body horded the calories. That's normal. It takes a while for the body to adjust and get out of starvation mode. Now if I'm really careful, the weight should slowly start to come off. Just be more careful and the extra pounds will disappear when you get your fills. We have to watch what we eat and not expect the band to do all of the work. I would be happy to eat chocolate ice cream all day which never gets stuck, unless I just got filled, but I won't lose any weight that way.

Congrats on crossing into Onederland, Bandchick!! Isn't it a great place to be? And losing over 100 pounds is amazing! What an awesome accomplishment!

That's great, Kendra! I know that the PET scan will give you more good news. I'm so glad that you are feeling so much better. Enjoy your vacation. It sounds wonderful!

November Nymphs Summer Meltdown Challenge

Shalee, thanks for the info. I would think that a Beverly Hills doc would be extra pricey but then again, if he's someone who works on celebrities he should know his stuff. I agree with not making the cost your deciding factor in something like this. Let me know how your next 2 appts. go. -
Judy, I am so sorry that you lost your band! Perhaps, the erosion looked like an unlocked band on the x-ray. I can't imagine what you felt when they told you. I agree with Craig, Sades, & Kelly. We are here for you no matter what! We all started this journey together and you're not done with yours. Your band helped you lose 45 pounds. You are more than halfway to goal and can still get there without the band. Yes, it will be more difficult but you proved that you could keep the weight off with no restriction. Perhaps with another weight loss plan those last 30 pounds or so will come off. Judy, you have shown that you are strong and determined. Don't let the loss of your band prevent you from accomplishing what you started. I know that I speak for everyone that we are your support group regardless of whether you're banded or not. And if you choose to maintain where you're at now, we are still here for you. Take the time you need to heal from surgery and mourn the loss of your band. I'm sure that being self-pay adds to the pain. If you can't visit with us right now, we understand. But please know that we are here for you whenever you're ready to come back. We will miss you. Please don't stay away too long!

All is forgiven, TX! :biggrin2: I don't even remember that thread. I wasn't posting consistently back then. Oh well, I'm here for good now!

Linda, I was embarrassed after my Cape Cod food holiday too. The nurse practioner said I beat myself up so badly, she didn't need to say a word! I had gained 3 pounds from that 5 day foodfest and lost it in 24 hours after the fill. Now that I had some unfilled, hunger has returned and I put back on 2 of the 10 I lost. I expected that. I knew that as soon as I took in a few more calories, my body would hold onto them. Now I have to be really careful to keep the rest off and start to lose again.

Hey Bandpal, where can I buy a jersey? The other Cindy and I came up with a cheer for Sades. Well, I started it and Cindy finished it! Yep, Sades definitely is an AllStar!!!
-
Best of luck, Judy! I'll be thinking of you!! Check in as soon as you can and let us know that you're OK. You'll be melting again before you know it!

Hey TX, what gives?! You forgot about me! Banded on the 1st and still here...daily!
