I couldn't get down a mushroom omelette either. Got stuck right away. A couple of weeks later I tried just a cheese omelette and the same thing happened. Apparently a lot of people can't handle fried or scrambled eggs because they're so dry. I can only eat eggs now if they're poached.

OK, that made me burst out laughing, Bandpal! Not even going to comment on that one...

Kendra, What a relief about the cysts. One less thing to worry about. I was thinking about you today and wondering how that sonogram went. With everything going on, I really appreciate you posting and keeping us updated. I hope you get your appointment soon and will anxiously await to hear what they have to say. Stay positive. I bet you'll hear good news from now on. I just know you will beat this thing!
-
Heck of a way to lose weight, Kendra! Your radiologist gave you great news. Keep focusing on the positive and you will "kick" this thing where it hurts! Love the imagery. Never underestimate the power of positive thinking. I do own a pair of cowboy boots that I bought in Fort Worth, Texas when I went there with my husband on a business trip. What a fun town! I think just us silly tourists went around in cowboy boots and cowboy hats. Where else could we get away with that? Dallas was great to visit too. I'll help you kick that tumor to dust starting right now. You stay strong and keep on kicking!

Hi Kendra, So sorry the news is worse than you expected. I honestly can't imagine what you're feeling now. I'm glad that your doctors are treating it aggressively and have already started radiation. Stay positive and optimistic. Your strong, positive attitude will aid you in your defense against this disease. We are all here for you offering our prayers and wishes of good health during this fight.

Kendra, I haven't been on much in the past week and just read the last 5 pages to catch up. So sorry for what you're going through and that I didn't offer my support sooner. You seem like a strong, wonderful lady and I am sure you will beat this. I'm sending you lots and lots of positive energy from New York. Please come here often for support or just to vent. You have a long journey ahead of you but please know that you have the support and good wishes from all of your fellow bandsters who will be with you in cyberspace every step of the way. *Hugz*

Thanks for the encouragement and great ideas! :w00t: I know this could work if I could just get my head in the game. This was a bad month. I had the flu and lost a quick 5 lbs but put it back on when I recovered. The nurse said that's normal. I really need to focus and pay attention to everything I eat and try not to add too many calories in order to get the food down easier. I am fearful everytime I strart to eat. Getting stuck feels so horrible. You're right about slowing down and taking very small bites to prep the stoma when I start to eat. It's easy to forget when hungry. The nurse also suggested having a hot drink like tea right before a meal. It' helped so far. She said the warm liquid will relax the stoma more than cold water. Hopefully I'll start to do better. I really want to get to Onederland sometime this spring.

I'm sort of feeling discouraged too. I had 3 small fills and have 6cc in an 11cc band. Yesterday I saw the nurse at the doc's office who said this is a decent amount of restriction but I know that I can still eat too much, when it doesn't get stuck. Because I get stuck too often, she didn't want to fill me more at this point. I have been up and down the same 5 pounds for the past month. In order to get food to pass I have to moisten it with mayo, gravy, ketchup, etc. I'm adding more fat, calories, and salt than I normally would. This is adding to my problem. Any thoughts or ideas? Suggestions would be appreciated.

I've almost lost a human leg! Too funny!!

I got the flu too 2 weeks ago. Also got the nasal swab which was really uncomfortable. My son got it a week before and was out of school for the week. We had flu shots as we get every year but came down with the strain B that it didn't cover. I still feel like I'm in a fog and still coughing. Can't get my energy back. My son is all better. Feel better, Kristen! It takes awhile. Just get lots of rest and don't worry about exercising.

Nymphs - How many fills have you had?
cindyg1212 replied to -acl-'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have had 3 fills and an unfill. I only have 4cc's in a 10cc band. I have a real problem with getting stuck. Sometimes the smallest bit of food gets stuck. Twice it happened with an egg omelet. The first time, I had mushrooms in the omelet so I thought it was that. It happened again a couple of days ago with just eggs and I was tearing and in agony until I slimed and it came back up. I'm actually thinking of having a bit unfilled. I have to eat meats smothered in gravy or sauce so it goes down. I feel like I'm adding calories. Anyone else having this problem? -
Nov. Nymphs "Spring into Weight Loss" Challenge Week #1
cindyg1212 replied to Momto1plus1's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I hope I do better this time than the last one. I think I'm finally restricted enough. I get stuck too often and it is so uncomfortable when that happens. I'm still fighting my night demons. I tend to stay up late and that's when I want to eat. I know I'm putting down an aggressive goal but if I get close, I'll be happy. Does your DH or SO know how much you weigh?
cindyg1212 replied to cQQlgirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Up until 8 years ago, I always weighed much less than my hubby. He only weighs about 170. I have no intention of telling him what I weigh until I'm close to goal. I weighed 115 on the day we were married. He can see how big I've become and that's enough. -

Cagstorm, sorry your fill hurt so much. I had a fill done by a new nurse practioner and she hurt a lot and over filled me. Went back a couple of days later and had it unfilled by another nurse who barely hurt. I'm getting a fill tomorrow with the more experienced nurse and hope it won't hurt too much. By the way, what is that a picture of?

did i stretch my pouch?
cindyg1212 replied to andielmt's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm having the same problem and have been reading similar posts. Apparently, we're not resticted enough. It's easy to lose right after surgery because of the restricted diet and the fact that the stomach is swollen for a few weeks after surgery. I had one fill and had to be unfilled 2 days later because it was too tight. I've been the same weight for weeks now but will try getting another fill thursday. This time, they will only add a small amount and it may take several fills to get a good restriction. -
Keep taking the Gas-X but no more than the recommended amount. I was banded on 11/1 and the gas pains were unbearable for me for 9 days. Then one day they were simply gone! Hang in there. They should disappear any day now. I had my kids pat me on the back to help me burp. Hey, I did it for them when they were babies! Also, walk around a lot, even in the house. Sometimes, I would sit on the floor and rock side to side to loosen the gas. It helped. You'll feel better soon.

Anyone get to stop using acid reflux meds (Nexium,Protonix) post-op?
cindyg1212 replied to citygirl4616's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too! No more Nexium for my hiatal hernia. The Nexium only worked a little bit anyway. I was told that the band would help and I have not had heartburn or reflux since surgery. A wonderful side effect!:clap2: -
I had to have my fill undone today. For the last 2 days, I could barely sip water and had pain in my stomach and back. I also came down with a cold so that didn't help. My doctor has 3 nurse practioners that do the fills so someone is always available. Found out today that I have a 10cc band and the doctor had already filled it with 5cc in surgery to make it fit better. So I already had some restriction. The nurse said that some of the fill from surgery goes down so I had 4cc when I went into the office on Monday. She added 2 which was too much. My digestive system was so out of whack by today that she had to take the 2 out so now I'm back down to 5. The pain is gone and I can drink again. We'll see how I do the next 2 weeks and if needed I'll get a small fill. I'm going to really focus on making better food choices which I was slipping on in the past 2 weeks. On a positive note, I lost 3 more pounds over the last 2 days from not eating at all. I don't think that's the way it's supposed to work!
-
Had my first fill today. The numbing shot stung a bit but not too bad. The nurse asked me to take a sip of water and that water hung out in my throat forever! I've only been able to take in small sips of water all day and feel as if I did a few days after surgery. I hope she didn't fill it too much. I'll give it a few days and see how it feels.
-
Sades, 15 lbs were before surgery. I haven't lost a pound since I went on solids 2 weeks ago but haven't gained either. I'm hoping that getting my first fill on Monday will get me back on track.

Now I get it...Thanks Longhorn!!

Here's a new one. I am currently in grad school. Returned to college after many years. My school has those annoying little desks with the chairs attached. Until my banding, I could barely sit at those desks and had to suck it in and barely breathe. Imagine sitting in this position for 2 1/2 hours! One month in and I can sit at the desk almost comfortably. I can lower the desk withour bumping into my belly. Another NSV is that I can easily fit into a size 16. My 18's are loose and if I want to, I can now shop in the misses department instead of womans. How I miss that! The clothes are cuter and there is a larger selection. I own clothes from size 6 thru size 18. I could open up a boutique! It will be fun to shop in my own closet too.
