  1. Hey guys! As of today, I'm 2 weeks and 1 day away from changing my lifestyle and looking towards long term health and a better quality of life. Surgery is on 2/2 with Dr. Alvarez in Piedras Negras, Mexico. So glad. I joined a gym and actually worked out today! It felt great! I've been eating healthy and tapering off the junk food. It's amazing how much better I feel eating clean foods, working out and having the surgery in the line of sight. This time next week, I'll be on the pre-op diet...for 8 days... wish me luck! Sharing an excellent resource... if you don't already have it, it's a great read and the excellent advice the author provides is based on her experience counseling bariatric patients: The Emotional First Aid Kit: A Practical Guide to Life After Bariatric Surgery by Cynthia Alexander. Everyday I learn a new strategy for help along our journey. If you purchase it, let me know what you think!
  2. @Aliciad7391..It's been SO long since I've been on a date! I'm looking forward to it as well. It's interesting how gaining weight steals your life day by day, robs you of self esteem and undermines your desire to be social. Before I gained all this weight I was "hot"...and had my choice of dates... I remember it well... and am looking forward to finding that part of ME again. When I think about all this... I focus on that mental picture of ME at goal... and that's what keeps me going! I'm getting sleeved on 2/2 and will keep you in my prayers.
  3. I'm getting sleeved on 2/2 and am most looking forward to --- 1. Seeing my current clothes get waaaay too big. 2. NOT being ravenous for food 24/7 and cruising the fridge every night around this time. 3. Being able to "run" on a treadmill without being winded after 60 seconds... Ok fellow Feb Sleevers... your turn... Jordan
  4. Thank you. My surgery is 2/2.
  5. Very insightful. This eases my mind a bit. Thank you very much.
  6. I'm having the surgery in Mexico. Does anyone know how the post-op visits work? Meaning, when you're post-op do you check in with your PCP to have them look at your incisions? Also, what's everyone doing pre-op as far as dieting? Are you trying to lose weight on your own prior to the surgery, are you enrolled in a program or are you waiting until the pre-op liver shrink before you give up the food?
  7. Hey tiger1961, my surgery date is 2/2 also! So very excited! I just want to fast forward to post-op, no complications and then 6 months down the road... I'm looking forward to the "after" selfie!
  8. My passport was expedited and it took about 10 days. It really was quick! Is there some way for you to check with USPS to track it? I've heard they are absolutely strict about the passport. I don't know if you'll be able to get through without the passport card or the actual passport. ... Have faith... If you're flying out on the 20th you will be fine.
