10 days post op and...
Jennifer Rogers replied to Jennifer Rogers's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
HAHAHAHA! Yeah! Apparently!!! She don't care what she says...no filter. Smh LOL! Thanks for the advice....I think I will just rest today, and not push myself so hard. Maybe I'll just make sure I get all my Water in today and only whatever else I feel like. It's definitely exhausting trying to keep on top of all the requirements. Of course, if I was left to my own devices since surgery, I wouldn't eat ANYTHING...ever. I have zero desire, although I know I must in order to stay alive. CRAZY how my appetite just disappeared. (I watched a video of the gastric sleeve procedure yesterday, btw..and WOW! No wonder I don't have any desire to eat) -
Has anyone become single as a result of their weight loss surgery?
Jennifer Rogers replied to pinkbunies's topic in Singles Forum
This entire thread disturbs me. I've been married for 23 years...we've raised 4 kids together and are now even grandparents together. I love my husband. It breaks my heart to think that the results of my surgery could come between us when so many things that were designed to destroy us, didn't touch us. I have heard that those of us who undergo this life changing procedure change in radical ways, not only physically, but most important, EMOTIONALLY. I don't want to change so much that I cause my husband not to love me anymore. I worry about this. -
1.5 weeks out...couple questions
Jennifer Rogers posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1. Will I EVER be allowed to drink again while eating a meal? 2. Why do we have to "sip"? 3. What are the ways I could stretch my sleeve and not realize it? -
I just took 3 pills (multivitamin and 2 daily medications) at the same time. I didn't even think. The second I swallowed, I thought "oh crap". Will I live? Will I block something up? Eeeeek!! Please tell me its ok, just don't make a habit of it....

Too good to be true! Today is my one week surgeversary. I was 247 when beginning my two week pre op "torture", and I was down to 237 the morning of my surgery. Today, I am down to 229!!! I have had the easiest recovery and transition period that anyone can imagine. I had a large hiatal hernia repaired during my sleeve surgery, which added a bit to my post op soreness, but I was up walking two hours after I was out of recovery. I have been walking 3 miles a day since coming home, and haven't had to take any pain medicine since leaving the hospital. I have had no problem getting my daily fluid or protein in, I've developed a new taste for yogurt (ABHORED IT BEFORE). The only thing I've had even the slightest issue with is jello. I love it, but I think its just too thick for me at this point. Two bites is about all I can handle before it triggers my full feeling. I have had zero cravings and no real hunger, let alone head hunger. Food doesn't interest me in the slightest although I know I need to eat to live. Before surgery, I wasnervous that tv would trigger head hunger/cravings. Last night it seemed that every commercial was for food or the holidays. Believe it or not, my reaction was quite the opposite. I almost gagged over some things that USED to be favorites of mine. I also began thinking about serving sizes, and how in the world we get to the points in our lives that a SERVING isnt enough. It was a measurementthat was developed for a reason...its all we need to give our bodies fuel. Why and how did we begin thinking we had to clean up our plates that was loaded down with enough "servings" to feed 4 people?!?!? How gluttonous!! At this pount, it makes me physically sick to remember my eating habits...so sad that i never connected the dots before. I don't know what I expected after the procedure, but I certainly didn't assume it would be an easy journey...and it may not always be, but for the present its been a walk in the park. I am BEYOND blessed and I'm so grateful for this opportunity to get healthy and LIVE again. Good luck and prayers going up for each of you on this journey along side me.

Special card to use when going out
Jennifer Rogers replied to Crystal88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got one. It is printed in pretty colorful font, the card is lamenated, and my name is printed on it. I've not eaten out since I had surgery, so I've not used it. But I imagine id just eat something off hubby's plate. I may use it if I was out with my gf's. -
That dress is STELLAR! WOWZA! So I'm thinking if it doesn't fit, you can always have it altered. I'm betting it will fit though...but how awesome if you had to have it taken in !?!?! Congratulations, girl!

AWESOME!!! Who did your surgery? Dr. Chaudhari with Carolina Surgical Associates did mine at Bon Secours Saint Francis. I'm tickled to death you're so close! I'd love to get to know you better. I'm not originally from SC..we just moved here in June 2013, so I don't know many people anyway...would love love love to have a friend that's sharing the same experience as me. -
I was sleeved this past Tuesday October 21. I also had a hiatal hernia repair. I feel fantastic, and I'm wondering when I can start vacuuming again? I remember the nurse specifically telling me not to push the vacuum around for awhile. It's been a week...how long is "awhile"?

Wondering....

YESSSS! That's probably what my nurse meant for "awhile". I'll wait a couple years just to be on the safe side! LOL! -

Thank you each for your reply My 15 year old daughter, 19 year old son, and husband are doing really well helping me (they are just as excited for my new life as I am!)..however, I'm finding that I'm a little bored during these days of recovery. I've been walking A LOT, but because I'm not cooking and keeping house like I've always done, I feel like I'm spinning my wheels during the daylight hours. It's getting better..I'm just anxious I guess good news is I'm down 14 pounds! Wooohoooo!!! Thanks again for your quick responses. ???? -
