Refried beans and cheese
Jennifer Rogers replied to Jennifer Rogers's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, REALLY! If you are going to reply to my posts, please refrain from being a smartass. My question was valid, as my NUT doesn't specify using low fat with certain things. PLUS, I'm more concerned with low calorie, low carb, sir, than low fat, but thanks anyway for your contribution to my topic. You must not have had breakfast this morning....try it. Might sweeten you up a bit. -

249 lbs... haven't seen this number since I was 18
Jennifer Rogers replied to pinkbunies's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm excited to walk now that it's cooling down. I enjoy walking in the cold. However, I've not done well walking since I came home from the hospital...started out fantastic, but my energy level is zapped and keeps getting worse. I WANT to walk....but I simply have no energy. I go to my first post op follow up tomorrow and I intend to speak to them about it. -
I have zero desire, 2 weeks out. My doc says whenever I feel up to it physically and emotionally.

I'm in full liquids phase, 11 days out. I'll be in puréed beginning Tuesday. Anyway, I've been allowed strained cream soups during this full liquid stage, so my question is...can I maybe have broccoli cheddar soup from Panera if I strain the chunks out? My daughter is wantin to go there to eat this afternoon. Thanks

Thank you so much for this. I agree with you 100%.

I have tried to eat yogurt all my life, and it doesn't matter the brand, flavor, or kind...I just can't stand it. The only kind of yogurt I can eat is yoplait whips (but they are too high in calories, fat, carbs). Not liking yogurt has really threw a wrench into these early stages of food. Just wanted to vent...lol. K? Thanks!

I DESPISE YOGURT!
Jennifer Rogers replied to Jennifer Rogers's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish I liked it. Because yogurt and fresh fruit has always sounded so good to me! I thought I'd developed a taste for it in the hospital after surgery....my first meal post op was cream of wheat and vanilla Activia. I ate it and loved it...but now I realize it because anything cool going down my parched throat was heaven. I've not been able to tolerate it since...I've tried many times throughout my life...just cant. (And I'm not picky!!! Yogurt and oatmeal are just about the only two things that make me cringe) -
tired all the time

I'm only 12 days out, but I've felt wonderful from the day I came home until about 3 days ago, and my butt is draggin. I, too, can't seem to get enough sleep. I don't even have enough energy to get my walks in which is weighing heavily on my mind. I go to my first post op appt. on Tuesday, and besides beginning stage 2 foods, my energy level is going to be a major discussion. Good luck to you and I hope you start feeling more peppy soon. -

I'm going to have to try that! At 12 days out, 3 shakes a day, I'm Beginning to gag on my protein. I've not had more than 24g total in the last 3 days. This is music to my ears! -
Thanks to each of you so much! I'm loving these Bariatric Pal Forums. It's amazing how much I've learned since becoming a member. So much more than I learned through any of my pre-surgical appts and educational seminars. I don't think I could have been as successful as I've been WITHOUT you guys, here. Thank you all, again, for being here for me.

I have not been to my post op follow up appt and have not been given a daily allotment for fat or calories yet. I asked my NUT at about a week out, and she said we would discuss it at my first post op appt. She told me to just concentrate on my protein, Water, and the allowable foods in my program booklet for this phase (which includes strained cream soups). Of course, it is certainly my desire to be successful with wls, or I wouldn't have taken such a drastic measure. I've actually been incredibly successful thus far...I'm 12 days out and have lost 26 pounds....I'm extremely proud of my progress, and my mind set at this point in the game. I also wasn't aware of some of the other soups on Paneras menu...chicken noodle is a fantastic pick, and I'll definitely get that when I go next time, as we never made it there yesterday anyway thank you all for your words of wisdom. That's why I'm here!

I am literally gagging on my morning protein shake! After doing so well getting all my fluids and protein in from day #1!! I'm upset. Plus I guess because I THOUGHT I was doing so well physically, I guess I pushed myself too far, and set myself back to feeling worse than I did the day after surgery. My incisions don't hurt or anything, but my a** is draggin! My 15 year old daughter looked at me as we were walking into walmart yesterday and said "Mom...you look like a strung out druggie". ???? Nice. She said my eyes were just really sunken in and dark all the way around. I am drained, which is making it hard for me to get my walks in, I'm bored with full liquids, I don't think I can swallow another sip of protein. Ugh!! But on the flip side I've been losing an average of 3 pounds a day. I started my 2week diet at 247, and the morning of surgery id was 237, but when I got home, I was back up to 247 from all the fluids they pumped into me during my hospital stay. I lost back down to 237 four days post op, and this morning I weighed in at 225. So I am making progress, but I'm in some kind of mood and feelin sorry for myself *sigh*

Feels like a pulled muscle..
Jennifer Rogers posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 11 days out from surgery, and taking it easy physically after the first week has been a little hard for me. Mainly because I felt so normal, but also because I'm a homemaker, and taking care of my home is what I do. If something needs done, I do it. HOWEVER, I also know I've just had major surgery and no matter how good feel, I realize I'm not healed internally. The problem I've had is simply "forgetting"..because I HAVE felt so well, and before I know it, I've picked up a laundry basket, or carried in two armloads of groceries. And I catch myself and think "oops!" Then I try not to do it again. But I'm still just forgetting ocassionally, and about an hour ago I walked past the utility room and the cats litter box needed more litter added. So I opened a brand new box and proceeded to pick it up, bend over, and pour it into the litter box. As soon as I set it down it felt like I'd pulled a muscle on the left side of my stomach. It's not intense pain, but it's definitely a pulling feeling. I'm laying down resting now hoping it'll go away, but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced what I'm describing? Thanks! (And I KNOW I'm not supposed to be lifting..it just slips my mind...this household don't run itself) -

diuretic problems?
Jennifer Rogers replied to txdogmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was taken off mine too, and by the time I got home from the hospital, I weighed myself and I had gained all my pre op diet weight back. Talk about frustrating. I cried my eyes out, but I knew I was swollen from fluids. That scared me though, because without IV fluids blowing me up, I had enough trouble getting rid of normal daily fluid. So, I went back on mine. My surgeon doesn't know, and maybe I should tell him, but I intend to quit again after about a month. I took one 4 days after I Got home from the hospital, and literally the next day, my hospital fluid was gone, and I've been Losing like crazy since. -

I'm scared too! I had never heard of surgery causing hair loss until I found this forum. This really worries me... -
My nutritionist told me I could drink decaf tea sweetened with Splenda or any other calorie free sweetener as part of my fluids, even if I drank more tea than water. So yes..I've had it from day 1. I'm 10 days out
