Logging food after eating out
Jennifer Rogers replied to Jennifer Rogers's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
And I wanted to clarify...the kind of chicken salad I had is the kind that you would normally put on a sandwich. Mixed with mayo, onions, etc. I only had about 1Tbls, but I wanted to make sure I track every bite I put in my mouth. -

Cream of Wheat
Jennifer Rogers replied to CarmelKiwi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It was the first meal I was served in the hospital the morning after my surgery. I've not had it since but it didn't bother my newly sleeved tummy at all -
This has probably been the hardest thing post op that I've had to get use to. I did try to practice it during my 2 week pre op diet, but knowing I still could if I wanted to, made it seem simpler, I guess. I have always enjoyed drinking my drink while I consume my meal....not being able to, now, has taken QUITE a bit of pleasure out of eating the little bit I do get to eat. That's probably a good thing, but I am afraid I'm never gonna get used to this. Not drinking during meals...is that a forever rule or just during certain stages? Merely curious..I'll adapt if I must, but the old me wants to dig my heels in.

So this morning is my 2 week surgiversary, and from beginning of two week pre op diet to today, I'm down 27 lbs total. (I had lost 10 pounds pre op and gained it all back in fluids during my hospital stay..took me 6 days to get that back off so dang it, I'm countin that in my weight loss!) Anyway, I was just in my kitchen making my 20 year old son sandwiches for his lunch and my cat jumped on the counter, as I shoved him off, my wedding rings went flying across the room in different directions, right off my finger! lol! I had just gotten them resized in June to fit my fat fingers! Guess I'll be putting them up for a bit till I get closer to goal! Then I'll get them sized for the new slimmer me!! Woohoo!

Skipping puréed and going straight to soft!?!?
Jennifer Rogers posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just got home from first post op checkup. I had surgery 14 days ago. My surgeon was livid with the front office for scheduling me so far out. He said I should've been in to see him a week ago, and because of scheduling, unbeknownst to them or me, I have been on full liquids a whole week longer than they require. My NUT told me I can jump straight to soft/mushies. I'm really excited..actually I'm so excited I feel kinda directionless. FOOD, PEOPLE! I GET TO START EATING FOOD!!!! OMG, I kinda don't know what to do with myself!! *happy dance* oh and ps: they were thrilled with my weight loss of 27lbs in 14 days, and said they could already see it! WOOHOOOO! -

Drinking while eating
Jennifer Rogers replied to Jennifer Rogers's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh LOL! No offense taken! You're 100% right! The old me...she sucks. I like the new me, I'm becoming. I'll trust you that I'll get used to it, and I'll work harder at accepting and embracing it. Thanks for the swift kick...I needed it! (I'll prolly need it a lot more before it's all said and done!) -
I can smell the lasagna in my house!
Jennifer Rogers replied to nikki9's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went and done the stupidest thing ever...I made my family the most beautiful pan of lasagna I've ever made in my life...5 days out from surgery. UGH! It didn't bother me a bit to make it, but later when they would heat up left overs, the smell literally made me drool every time. I finally sent the rest of the pan to work with my 20 year old son to share with the other guys he worked with. My Husband said "that's not fair! I wanted more" I said "sorry bud, but I had to get it out my house, cause I was almost to the point of wantin to just get in it and roll around in it" I'm NOT kidding! I had no issues till I made that blasted lasagna and it's been downhill since with the food smells (Italian destroys me the worst!) -
Holy crap! I'm still in full liquids stage until tomorrow, but I am obsessed with pinning bariatric recipes on Pinterest. I CANT WAIT to make some of this stuff!!!!! Lord a'mighty, I am SOOOOO done with these liquids. *puke*

Ok! I get to start puréed tomorrow and I'm looking forward to having refried Beans and cheese, but I have a couple questions: Do I use low fat beans, low fat cheese? I'd like to hear some of your favorite things you add to them, if anything? Thanks!

My dietician told me that my protein shakes, broth, sf jello, sf popscicles, iced tea with Splenda ALL count toward my fluid intake.

Full liquid stage
Jennifer Rogers replied to bridget1015's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told the same. I was told to only concentrate on getting my fluids and protein in. Creamy soups, and broths were also included on my list, but other than that, I've been in the same boat. Thank The Lord I start pureeds tomorrow! -

@@Jake B. LOL! Your reply made me giggle out loud..I can totally see food being anti-climactic now...forever. It's kinda sad cause MAN! I LOVE FOOD! I love cooking it and I love eating it, but I'm so excited to know I'm on my way to a LONGER healthier life. (I can't help that I'm still gonna miss food...) -

Help! Can't burp!
Jennifer Rogers replied to resipsa89's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never have been able to burp "on demand" LOL! I don't even know what muscles to use to make it happen! HAHAHAHA! I could never have burping contests with my brother when we were younger or anything before surgery IF I burped, it was rare and truly by accident. Since surgery I've not burped once. -

That's exactly how I feel! Physically, I'm not hungry, but I don't feel well. I feel malnourished and I feel like my body is screaming "EAT SOMETHING, I'M SLOWLY DYING!" This full liquids phase has been really hard on me, after spending 2 weeks pre op on basically the same diet. I'm ready for some real food, even if it's baby food texture. -

Thanks so much! Great advice. I've heard that about my tastes changing...I'm anxious to see what kinds of things I prefer now compared to before. I'll be sure to water them down quite a bit before I try my first spoonful. Thank you again! -

Well wishes for your upcoming surgery!!! It's a tough journey, with lots of up and downs, but so worth it. Just remember to roll with the punches babe...there's plenty of them! But you'll be fine! Yes, that's my daughter thank you so much!! she's the baby of 4 and only girl. That photo was at Christmas 2 years ago...shes 15 now and a sophomore in highschool yes, she resembles me quite a bit, fortunately she didn't get my side of the family genes where her figure is concerned. I wasnt heavy as a child/teenager/young adult either, but I was definitely "curvy" and I always knew I'd have trouble if I didn't watch. She takes after my husbands mother. She's very dainty and petite in every way. I love that she'll never have to worry about obesity. -
My body feels awful...
Jennifer Rogers replied to Overcomer_Rev1211's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Overcomer_Rev1211 I'm 2 weeks out tomorrow, and I'm struggling with everything you are. Everytime I stand up, I get so dizzy my vision dims for a second. It scares me. I also feel HORRIBLY weak. I started out being able to get all my fluids in, all my protein, and I was walking every day. That lasted a week...this entire second week, I haven't walked once, I've gone the last 4 days with MAYBE 24g protein per day (and that's pushing it, and I'm only getting half my water down. NOTHING appeals to me. I think I'm just burned out on the full liquids and I'm waiting for an order of Genepro protein I got off Amazon...it's supposed to be fantastic and I can add it to ANYTHING I eat. I'm looking very much forward to my first post op appt tomorrow and getting the go ahead to begin the puréed phase. I am praying I start to feel better soon, and I'll pray for you too. It's definitely no fun. Much harder than I imagined. And I didn't come into this thinking it'd be simple, but crap!
