    When did your fatigue stop?

I was tired until I started eating solid foods. I wasn't in the beginning. I'm about 5 or 6 weeks out now. I try to focus on eating foods high in protein. The shakes were making me sick after a while. Tuna is a great source of protein. I feel pretty good now.

    Right side pain ?

I had that pain on the rift side and it turned out to be gas. It went away after a while. I'm 5 weeks out.
  3. I am 12 days post op and my biggest surprise is how easy the recovery has been for me. I had very little gas pains and no pain after I left the hospital. I have been on pureed foods for a few days and it feels so good to be able to have something other than a Protein shake. I am still learning to slow down when I eat or drink. If I go too fast, I will know it. I may have to try counting or something in between to remind myself I need to take my time. Regrets? None that I can think of right now. I will say that this is not for the faint. You really have to be all in to go through the meal plan stages. I'm a picky eater so it's really hard but tuna has a lot of protein in it. I try to stick with things that are most beneficial to my healing and my health.

    i have tried!

???????????????????????????? Bravo and I love your attitude. I'm expecting the same from my family when I get there. I just had my surgery on 3/25 and I didn't tell anyone but a few close friends.

    HAD SURGERY 3/31/15

@@Butterfly85 I had surgery on March 25th and it went well. I know I'm like a week ahead of you but I'm here if you need to talk. I am trying to make sure I get in all of my Protein and Water. I try to walk every day. Each day gets a little better. My email is mechele4eva@hotmail.com

    Recovery must-haves

sugar free popsicles because you may have trouble getting in liquids. Plenty of Water because Protein may take a while to stay down so you need to stay hydrated. GasX chewable tablets, even though I only used it twice, priceless! Pillows to prop your head up so you're not laying totally flat. I'm 5 days post op and they really helped me. Good luck!!!
  7. @@matt56 welcome!! I'm really glad to hear you are doing well. I was sleeved on Wed, March 25th and I have been doing pretty good. I walk every day and I drink water all day. Getting protein in has been a little difficult but I think I figured out a better way. Keep up the good work.
  8. I kept it between me and my best friend for the longest. Then I told my aunt. Recently, I told my close co-workers, supervisor, and boss. I mainly told them because my nerves was getting the best of me. By the time I get back to work they will all know I'm sure. Nothing is kept a secret for too long in that office. My family does not have a clue. My mom, son, sister, brother none of them know.

    New VSG YouTube Vlog !

It would be better to post the name of the blog because the link doesn't work to click on from here.
  10. @@chaggard good thing you started with the Water. I am in the same boat but I reduced my Protein intake and started doing Jello and more water. I also did Miralax to soften things up. It was not fun being constipated but I did mention it to my doctor during our pre-op visit and he said protein will do it. I'm glad you are feeling better.
  11. Good luck @@SouthernBelle69!!! My turn is tomorrow. Keep us posted!
  12. @@ladycook9713 I am so leaving work early today. I've already started getting things together to be out for the next 2 weeks. I just need to finalize a few things. I'm really glad this pre-op diet is almost over. I think I'll go home and sleep the rest of the day so I won't have to worry about food again. LOL sugar free Jello stinks!!! I'm really ready to get this party started so to speak. I'm ready to be on the other side. LOL I'm not sure if I've lost any pounds but I know inches are coming off. My pants are starting to fall down. Thank goodness for a belt. I did lose 10lbs prior to starting the pre-op diet and I wasn't even trying. I mean, of course I was eating right but I didn't exercise or anything. I'm looking forward to this journey being a very positive experience.

    Any Georgia Sleevers?

@@MoJo119 I am feeling extremely tired and wishing that I took the day off as well. It's hard to concentrate. I have not packed but I have an idea on what I want to take with me. I am hoping to be the first one so I can get to recovery and my room. I am extremely nervous and anxious at the same time. I certainly hope we can stay in touch while at the hospital. I will be using my cell phone there and I'm not sure if I can get the alerts like I do with the computer. I plan to take toiletries, a pair of slippers, a robe, and shorts.
  14. @@ladycook9713 I am so with you on that one!! I'm starving. I am on liquids today all day no solid foods. I'm sitting here at work and can barely concentrate. I'm really getting out of there early today. I think I'm tired for two reasons. 1. I didn't sleep well last night and 2. I haven't been able to eat full 3 meals a day just protein shakes. I can have jello and broth but I figured I mind as well save that for afterwards because I'll have plenty of time for that then.

    Any Georgia Sleevers?

@@MoJo119 I'm having mine at Piedmont and Dr. McGill is doing mine as well. What time? I'm at 8am but I have to be there at 6 am. We definitely need to stay in touch!
  16. I am on my last day of the pre-op diet and it hasn't been bad. I get one meal a day except for today because surgery s tomorrow. I got a high Protein shake and it helped me to stay full. Keep a stool softener near by because all that protein will constipate you. I drink tons of Water also and I haven't had any problems. Good luck and it really does fly by. I can't believe I'll wake up and go in for surgery tomorrow. ????????

    Any Georgia Sleevers?

I'm in Atlanta and I have mine on Wednesday, March 25th.
  18. I'm on the 25th as well. I'm sitting here at work just going over everything in my mind. "I can't believe I'm doing this, I need to do this, and when will this be over". LOL I haven't packed anything yet but I have it all ready to go into the bag. I'm on this pre-op diet but I get to have one meal a day until tomorrow. Tomorrow is all liquids no food at all. I'm feeling a little tired with this Protein and Water for a week. Also, protein makes you constipated. I've been drinking a lot of water and that keeps me running to the bathroom but it's not really helping with the constipation. I've had to take a stool softener. I haven't really cheated on this pre-op diet but I did eat some gummy bears. I'm an emotional eater and my nerves are about to totally take over. I'm trying to stay away from sweets as much as possible. Let's keep each other lifted in prayer as well as encouraged.
  19. @@brmbrown thank you! My best friend has a family (3kids & a husband) to consider when she's making plans. Her husband will be on travel that week. I am an army veteran and she just recently retired but her husband is still active duty. I have a male friend here that will be there. I'm definitely nervous but I'm sure everything will work out fine. This is just something I need to do for me. ???????? I'm glad you have your husband to share the experience with.

    Day One

Congrats Trish!!! It sounds like things are coming along nicely for you. I have my surgery on March 25th and I'm ready to get it over with. My anxiety is starting to kick in. ????????

    New Life Ahead... =)

That's great. Sounds like you are off to a good start. I'm scheduled for March 25th. I'm currently on the pre-op diet and this Protein is something else. I make sure I drink plenty of Water. Congrats!!
  22. @@MadameX I do not have a therapist. I do have 2 close friends that know what I'm doing and I talk to them when I need to. Right now I use this site and I'm pretty determined to see this thru. It has been a long road to get to this decision and now that I'm here I don't want anyone else's opinions about it. We will keep in touch and encourage one another. Here's my email address mechele4eva@hotmail.com.
  23. I am on the pre-op diet now and it's been 3 days. Ugh!!! I have managed to drink water and have yogurt to help fill in the gaps. My surgery date is March 25th. So far, I am 10lbs down and that's from my last NUT visit in December. The one thing that I did was go to Vitamin Shoppe and get the Vanilla Ice Cream Lean Body shake. It has 42g of protein. It really keeps me full. I have 2 of those a day and a EAS Advant Edge 17g shake before bed. My preop appointment was today with the surgeon and hospital. I'm ready to get this over with. ????????
  24. I wish you the best of luck. I know that I've tried and just couldn't do it on my own and keep it off. A lot of people are successful in doing it and I sincerely hope you are one of the ones that do it and keep it off. Sometimes I find when I get fed up with a process, I have to ask myself what is really the problem. Is it the process or is it me? Most of the time, it turns out to be me. I was holding myself back because of ego or pride it just depends. At the end of the day though, you have to be comfortable with any decisions you make. Good luck to you!!!
  25. I am feeling the same way. My surgery date is March 25th and I'm going through all sorts of emotions and thoughts. I'm on the Pre-Op diet right now as well. I will see my dr on Wednesday and do the registration at the hospital. It's getting down to the wire and I'm just now getting my Protein shakes together to get through this preop stage. I'm sure you will be fine. Just keep reminding yourself why you made the decision to go through with it in the first place. That's what I keep doing. I'm doing this basically solo because I didn't want my family and friends to know. My best friend knows and she was supposed to come down to help me through it but it doesn't seem as though she's going to make it. It looks like it's just me. At least I have a ride to the hospital and home the next day. Good luck!!
