Unfortunately I'm in the same boat. It's not just sugar for me, it can be sauces like Honey Mustard salad dressing or the grease something was cooked in also sauce on chicken wings. I have to be very careful what I eat. I also can not eat and drink at the same time. Mainly because it fills me up quick but it will also make me dump if I eat something like bread or cake.

[emoji122]????[emoji122]???? I couldn't agree more! I was sleeved on 3/25/15 -
Thanks for the info! I do not have gallstones because I had an ultrasound but I do have sludge and pain on my right side. I have to eat clean or I get this pain that's similar to extreme gas pain. It hurts!! I will hang on to this in case my situation changes.

I had that same problem and it actually made me second guess my weight loss goals. Then as @@Dkdebose said they didn't have a problem when I was pushing 300lbs so their opinions no longer matter. I have to do what's best for me and my health. Now I'm back on track. I hit the 60% of excess weight in my 9th month so now I can go as far as I want. Good luck to you but block out those negative comments and keep doing you.

Starting my journey - Boston Ma
mechele8 replied to Juhygtfrdsd's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Surgery can be scary because you are not in control and your life is literally in someone else's hands but it really is not bad. My biggest concern for you and your upcoming procedure is that it's not your decision. The way your post read it seems like everyone else thinks it's a good idea but you. This is a major lifestyle change and only you go through it. This has to be your decision regardless of diagnosis and Doctor recommendations. If you were 100% sure you wouldn't have fear you would have anxiety to get the party started. I advise you take a deep and hard look at everything and make a decision that's right for you. I was 5'10 and no one knew I weighed almost 300lbs because I carried my weight well. It wasn't about appearance it was about health. I had some of the same issues that you have plus high blood pressure. I'm almost 10 months post op and 84lbs down. I feel great!! Good luck girlfriend. I'm originally from Mattapan but I've never heard of the hospital you're having your surgery. I wish you the best. -
Tall Women, Tell Me Your Story!
mechele8 replied to AshleyMidwife's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'm 5'10 and I weighed 287 before surgery. I am currently 215 at 9 months out. My primary care doctor suggested 170 but I'm not sure I want to look like that again. I was 154lbs in high school 20+ years ago. I took this picture a week ago. Here is a picture before -
Congrats!! That's awesome! I'm 32 weeks (8 months) and I'm down 73 lbs and counting. I don't get on the scale that often but I have been at 223 for a while now. I work out and try to eat healthy. I'm not counting calories or anything. I just try to eat protein first.

I enjoyed reading everyone's post on breakfast. I'm pretty basic so I have oatmeal but I will add raisins to off set the sugar. I also use Almond milk. Some mornings when I get to work, I may get a few slices of bacon and a little grits. I don't like grits so I mix it together just to give me a better taste. I can't finish it but I get a few bites in before I have to throw it away.

I would love to see more of before and after pics. It keeps me motivated during this time of my journey! Thank you everyone.

Pre-Surgery and Post-Surgery clothes shopping *Rant*
mechele8 replied to Reckless Moxie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I totally get your rant. I'm 5'10 so it's always been hard to find clothes in a store regardless. Now I can find long slacks or tall pants. I can even find shirts that fit off the rack. I'm 7 months and I actually enjoy going onto stores but I only buy things on sale. I had my procedure in March so maxi dresses was a recommendation and I did just that. It helped save on money and questions. Now I did buy some jeans because the weather is changing but I got a 14 I will be wearing them for a while. Good luck! -
@@saraburnett It will pass but you are too early to try to hang out especially with people that don't know you had the procedure done. The time flies by so focus on your recovery and getting out of puréed foods into solids. Just a heads up, even on solids you can't eat much and you may find that things you could eat before will make you throw up. I stayed away from people that didn't know until I was on solids and figured out what worked and what didn't. You have your husband to hang out with and I had my guy friend so the depression was short lived for me but I went through it. I regretted having surgery. He would eat so fast and I felt I wasted his money but it was all in the process. My co-workers hated going to lunch with me because I couldn't eat much. I'm 7 months and now I can fake it and eat a lot more than I could at 3 months. It will get better. Keep your head up!! Good luck.

Does everyone's hair fall out?
mechele8 replied to alindsey's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm experiencing it now at four months out. I take biotin and hair skin & nail pills. It seems to be working. I also take a multivitamin. I'm hoping it passes quickly. -

I'm 4 months post op and I'm down 58 lbs since surgery. I have a total loss of 67 lbs. Surgery 3/25 287 lbs Today 8/3 229 lbs and counting I am so happy that I'm losing this weight. I have been wanting this for a long time. I can finally see the difference but the sad thing for me right now is, not knowing what size to get from the store. The weight is coming off pretty fast. Good luck everyone

I've noticed that when I eat I feel like I'm going to throw up. It's like I'm full and can't take anymore so it makes me feel like I need to empty my stomach or something. My stomach hurts sometimes after eating certain things. I've also lost about 55lbs. Good luck and I hope you et it figured out soon.

Does everyone experience hairloss?
mechele8 replied to mechidallas's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm natural as well but I take Hair Skin and Nail pills. It helps. It scared the crap out of me at first because it was coming out in long clumps. Now I wash my hair and there's very little in the shower. I'm almost 4 months post op. -
Dehydration Question
mechele8 replied to missykrissy79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@missykrissy79 I was going to suggest watermelon. I have been eating it like crazy and it has helped a bunch. I also drink coconut water. It hydrates really fast. I'm going to the gym this week for the first time so I hope I stay hydrated. I'm going to take it easy at first and I plan to do some water aerobics until I get back into the swing of cardio. Good luck with everything and be well. -
I was terrified and eager at the same time. I had lost about 23 lbs when I started solids. Just be cognitive of the fact that you won't be able to eat much and chew very well. When you eat slow and chew everything to mush it's not too bad. I tried foods that were moist first. I know you don't want tuna but it slides down. Eggs, grits, soups, and chicken. I couldn't do breast because it was too dry at first. I can now. Good luck and venture out. I can't have bread. I learned after throwing it up a few times but I can have tortilla bread. Quesadias (sp?) were my thing for a while.

I asked my surgeon and he said the only issues with straws is taking in too much in at one time. He also mentioned the possibility of gas but if you don't have gas issues, it's fine.

Surgery Buddies, who was sleeved 3/25/15 or that week
mechele8 replied to tamelntre's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved on the same day 3/25. I have lost 40lbs so far. I'm so happy to be on solid foods. I try to make sure I get in Protein first. I can't do another Protein shake. When I tried one a few days ago, it came right back up. I am doing pretty good. My PCP wants me to come in and do another physical just to check my levels and make sure I'm not having any Vitamin deficiencies. I will definitely make that happen sooner rather than later. I experience some fatigue at times but I try to get in more protein. I haven't gotten started with a gym workout. I walk and that's about it for now. My intake is still rather small but I am experimenting with different foods to see how I tolerate them. I can tell you right now bread is not the move. I can do a wrap but of course only half of it. Sugar is definitely out. I also find that things high in fat, carbs, or sugar will send me right to the rest room. Oh, nothing fried either. Good luck everyone on reaching your goals.
