  8. I had surgery this past Friday and I've had this chest tightness especially under my diaphragm. Is this gas or fullness from drinking protein shakes? No shortness of breath. It only slightly pains to take a deep breath.

    Tightness in chest...

@@dashofsunshine Thank you so much for your reply. Oh my goodness it hurts so bad. I just talk to my surgeon's group and they said the same thing you did. I'll just be glad when this passes. And I'm walking all the time also. I ended up sitting up for most of the night. Can't wait to be back in my bed.

Discomfort breathing 4 days post op

I'm two days post op and just talk to the nurse with my surgeon 's group. I'm having discomfort when I take a deep breath and chest is really tight with discomfort. She said it's just the gas that however if I have any shortness of breath that could be a pulmonary embolism so you would definitely need to have it checked out. But she said gas should pass by third day..so I'd definitely check with your surgeon if you still have.

    Tightness in chest...

Nope, never needed it. I'm thinking it's still gas from the surgery. Anyone who just had surgery experience this?

    I knew better but...

You're not the only one... I kept having food funerals. Lol I was only required to do a one day preop diet but chose to do a two week because I would have kept eating. Now that I had surgery I'm glad I did!!! Good luck and enjoy your food for now!!
  13. I was informed by my anesthesiologist that the doctor sewed a small hiatal hernia repair after surgery (he was already in his next surgery). I've never been on any meds for GERD and was surprised. If this happened to you did you have any problems with GERD afterwards? I know with the sleeve that sometimes these issues arise.
  14. @@andym Me too!! I was a little freaked about going home right after surgery, but so far so good!!! Thanks for the reply!!!
  15. @@andym WE HAD THE SAME SURGEON!!! I love Dr. Hart. Did you have it at johns Creek Hospital or surgical center????
  16. Well I made it. Not as bad as I feared, but not as easy as I hoped. I had the surgery at 8:30 AM and then was home by 12:30 PM. I've been walking every 10 minutes every two hours for the last 24 hours. Does anyone know how much longer I should continue to do this or is it just for the first day home? Also I'm tolerating the nausea very well, I am sucking on ice chips and sipping zero powerade. Surgeons office suggested starting the clear protein shakes today, but I'm thinking about just keeping to clear broth clear liquids did anyone else do this for the first couple of days?

Check in: Week of Nov 17th Sleevers!

Hey guys. My surgery was yesterday it was done outpatient for the sleeve. I had the surgery at 8:30 AM and was home by 12:30 PM. I felt nothing really until I got home and then had the horrible gas pains. The only thing that helped was walking 10 minutes every two hours for the last 24 hours. They are getting better. Also the spirometer they gave me helps. My incisions are really really sore today. Taking the liquid Lortab but it takes several yucky baby sips to get them down. Walking seems to help that pain also. Hugs to you all for sharing your experiences!!
  18. Thank you all!!! I did have horrible gas pains. I couldn't even take a deep breath because my shoulders hurt like the devil. Walking helped!!! I'm just going to try for 30min a day. Today the gas pains aren't as bad, but the incision sites are sore...walking seems to help them also.
  19. @@Elode Thanks!! I will def try to get them in. What about the walking?? How much did you do that first couple of weeks??
  20. I'm on my way to the Surgical Center guys. Nervous and terrified doesn't even come close. I waiting for the excitement to hit.... Thank you all for the support over the last several weeks!! See ya on the other side.
