Sharp pain under main incision --did I do too much?
Thenewnic replied to sarina55's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved on 11/21 also and have exact pain daily...especially if I overextend myself. My surgeon has said that particular incision takes the longest to heal. -

You look fabulous!! Your story continues to inspire!! Keep up the great work and GO GET THAT FULL MARATHON!! ???? -
My entire family has had a stomach flu since Friday. It's actually circulating around my little town. I started with the nausea tonight and instantly took a Zofran (anti-nausea pill) left over from surgery. I'm definitely going to call my surgeon first thing in the morning, but until then has anyone dealt with the stomach flu while being recently out from VSG? I'm 10 days postop.

Where are the November Sleevers?
Thenewnic replied to ToccoraVSG's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had surgery 11/21. Pretty much easy up until a stomach virus invaded my household last Friday. I've been queasy for the last 24 hours, but Zofran is helping. Other than the nausea, the fluids have begun to go down easy. I actually worried that I drank too much soup broth hot and sour has been my fav along with progressive light's beef pot roast broth only. I can take large sips of Crystal light and protein shake. Makes me wonder if the surgeon really operated...lol Anywho, I start seeing a therapist tomorrow that specializes in bariatric Surgery and eating disorders. Hopefully, it'll be one more tool to help me on my way. Congrats to Everyone's success so far!! -

@@Elode I seriously have used Clorox on everything...lol. Zofran has contained the nausea so I think I made it past the ugh stage. Everyone's back to school tomorrow!' Thank God. ???? BTW..love the new pic!!

I'm 8 days post op and need to start my vitamins. Per my surgeons office, I'm to take the bariatric advantage calcium chewy bite. These are huge. How am I supposed to swallow them down (even chewed they're like caramel)? What about my new tummy and damaging it? Anyone else take these? OR what do you use??

Thank you for the positive reply!!????

I was at home four hours after surgery and having no pain. Except for several hours later, I had gas pain which is easy to get rid of by walking. The next day my incisions sites were slightly sore, but better in a day. Good luck!!!

Protein Drink That Isn't Sweet?
Thenewnic replied to Connorsmama7's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I too am tired of everything sweet. I tried the Un jury Chicken soup and gagged. I tried adding unflavored protein powder to my broth and it was nasty. Mainly I'm trying to drink my soup broth which is savory and then waiting 30 minutes and drinking my protein shake. -

Thenewnic replied to MS_Science_Sleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here's my stats: Surgery date 11/21 Preop diet weight: 291 Day of Surgery): 281 Today's weight: 261 Total weight loss: 30 pounds! I had an uh-oh freak out moment last night. My daughter had a stomach virus and without thought, I picked her up (50lbs). Afterwards the top of my rib age felt sore. I called my surgeon this morn and he said I probably pulled a muscle and should be fine. The worry with lifting after VSG is hernias at incisions sites, but since I was laparoscopic that decreases the chances. I shared my fear of tearing my new tummy and said it was virtually impossible unless I over ate or ate the wrong thing. Other than that...I'm great!! So far so good!!!! -

i'm six days postop. And totally normal. Keep walking. If you can walk for 10 minutes every 2 to 4 hours it will help. I feel great now and no more gas pain.

Surgery at 8:30 am at home by 12:30.pm. I too was worried about outpatient even though my doctor is Chief of Staff at one of the largest hospitals here in the South. And founded one of the largest bariatric programs here. But as he explained most of the surgeries for VSG are being done more and more outpatient and in a year they'll almost all be preformed that way. He does the leak test before he even sews you up. Six days postop now for me and I'm feeling fabulous. First couple are rough, but Walk, WALK, walk for 10 minutes every two hours especially that first 24 hours and it helps!! Praying you have a safe surgery.

Happy Thanksgiving Y'all. ???? Six days post-op and feeling great!!! Going to a big Thanksgiving feast today. I'll be the one not eating, but just giving a silent thanks that as of today I'm not diabetic and celebrating being alive with my beautiful family. Two quick questions...anyone daring to shop for Black Friday this early out of VSG?? Also anyone get a pain in the lower left stomach when you're full??! It only when I drink more than 3 ounces of fluid. -
I'm three days post op and have been a type II Diabetic for 10 plus years. I've been medicated on and off with Insulin, Glucophage, and Diabeta at different intervals during that time having been on Glucophage only these last several years. Uncontrolled type two diabetes has brought me cataracts in both eyes and other health related issues. My surgeon had me discontinue meds after surgery. As of yesterday, my glucose numbers are completely normal and Dr. says they should stay this way. I am both amazed and awed at the turn around the sleeve has brought me already.
