@@CowgirlJane Thank you so much for your reply. I agree that VSG'ers need to try and stay away from "food vacations" because you're entirely right about that first year!!

Ahhhh @tauruslady5... I knew someone would have to throw their smartas* comment in to be an a**hole. But hey, I like smarta**es and a**holes alike. So to reply to you... I'm glad they fixed your brain at the same time and made you diet superwoman. I mean surely you weren't perfect before and that's the reason you had to have the surgery in the first place. I'm also sure you're the first one now to point out the fat a**es since you've lost all your weight AND doing it perfectly. Fabulous for you, Hun. Keep being your supportive self!' Much love!! ????

    Egg Drop Soup?

I loved strained Hot & Sour soup after surgery. Yum!!!

Can you really stretch a sleeve?

My surgeon says it would be very painful to stretch.
  8. My surgeon performs his VSG's on an outpatient basis. I've read multiple medical articles supporting this, BUT have rarely found other sleevers who didn't spend at least one night in the hospital. Now I'm getting nervous with my upcoming surgery. Any pros or cons for those that were oupatient? What would worry you about going home the same day?????? Much LUV to you all! This forum has literally been a lifesaver!!!

    Day surgery? ?

I had outpatient surgery. In at 7 am and out by noon. I too was concerned, but felt it to be a positive experience, especially since my surgeon is top in his field with zero fatalities and leaks. The key is making sure to get up EVERY 2 hours to walk 15 minutes for the first 48 hours. It will make all the difference in the world. Oh, and liquid Lortab to help you sleep the first couple of nights. Good luck!!

    november sleevers.

11/21 for me and down 46 pounds since pre-op diet. I've ate a few things over the holidays that I shouldn't including too many bloody Bloody Mary's. ???? BUT getting back on track tomorrow and joining gym on Monday to start exercising. The emotional side has been the hardest part for me and thank goodness I've a wonderful therapist that works with me.

    4 months post op

I'm allowed 3/4 cup of food three times a day with 2 Snacks. I usually never eat that much. I try between 600-800 calories daily. I see a therapist that specializes in working with bariatric patients. He's wonderful because he understands everything I'm going through. This is a life changing event and having someone to talk to really helps!!

    Plateau

I had a stall from week 3 until 5 then lost almost 10 pounds in a week. I didn't do anything different other than quit stepping on the scale everyday. I only weigh once a week.

    I want to give up

I felt the same way. Fat-free refried beans with melted cheese was my go to!! Lots of protein. Hang in there!!

    Solo recovery?

Nothing. Came home 4 hours after surgery and even though my hubby was here...I didn't need him. Just make sure and go ahead to have any post op meds filled (pain) and vitamins/protein shakes and first week of what you plan to eat/drink. I drove two days after surgery no prob. Walk every 2 hours for 10-15 minutes the first 48 hours for gas pain and sip Fluids. Good luck!!!

    No problems eating....

@@mahazeezoo No...I'm saying a month out of surgery MY surgeon says I can eat what I can tolerate. You need to follow your Bariatric groups plan. Everyone's is different. AND it's not all "kinds" of food. It's healthy choices with protein being my overall goal. I will not add breads, grains, pastas to my food for a year because that is my choice. Good luck!!
  19. First off...I want to say that my heart goes out to anyone recently sleeved that is having any types of problems. So my question is not one of complaint, but genuine interest. I'm four weeks post op and starting solids. Until this point I've been lucky not to experience any nausea. I'm able to drink Water like a fish and am up to drinking one to two premier shakes daily and eating meals and two Snacks. I'm eating no more than my 1/2 cup per meal...BUT I never get that full feeling that everyone describes. I make myself stop. I've joked that maybe my doctor didn't operate on me...lol I've lost 30lbs since surgery...plus 10lbs preop. I've been able to tolerate hamburger meat, chicken, eggs, spicy/hot seasoning. Eating ALL Proteins at this point because I don't want veggies or fruits, but should I add them to my meal? I see my NUT the week after The New Year.

    No problems eating....

@@HalloweenBaby24 Thank you for your reply. Have you tried pretty much everything as far as proteins? I'm wondering how far to push it. From my NUT's schedule I can begin trying anything I think I can tolerate. I would love to try a bite of steak, but scared to death..lol

    Spicy Food

I've been drinking/eating spicy since two weeks out with no prob. My sleeve doesn't have problems with spicy, but I get nauseas with plain mash potatoes. My NUT says it's what you can tolerate. Try tiny bites and go from there.
  24. Thenewnic

    Food tastes funny

Peanut butter is a no go for me now. Taste awful and my sleeve doesn't like. ????

    Food question

I did!! Super strain and try a sip to see how it goes. My sleeve tolerates spicy and it went down easy for me,
