And this is why I WALK ALONE!

Remind her that you are in competition with no one. Show her that you are thrilled being you. And no matter what speed you are going, you are lapping the ones sitting on the couch. Good for you! Don't let her negativity even bother you, laugh it off and see what kind of response you get

    One week till surgery

I was terrified, so badly that my bp was so high they weren't sure they would be able to do surgery that day lol I was completely stressing myself out and just knew I was going to die. Now I just laugh at how I made it so much harder than it had to be The feelings you are having are completely normal. I honestly didn't have any problem with pain. Only issue was that I sleep on my stomach normally, and couldn't for the first week after. Definitely a small price to pay for all that the surgery has given me. I am not quite 3 months out yet, and other than eating less ( & losing weight obviously) , I can't tell I even had the surgery. All that fear for nothing Best wishes to you all

    Slow Weight loss

I had surgery Oct 20th. As of today I have lost 34 lbs. My Dr says I am losing faster than he expected, and that it depends a lot on what your original weight was as to how quick you will lose it. You can't compare your weight loss amount to someone that weighs 100 lbs more than you do. Each individual is different. I think a misconception about surgery is that weight will just fall off.. you will continue to lose it over time, and as long as the scale moves, then it's a success Besides, if you lose it super quick , you may be left with loose skin. I prefer mine goes slow and easy

    Achy arms!.

yes! My arms ached more than my stomach ever hurt.. but as previously stated, it was because I was using my arms to pull myself up and easy myself down, to keep from using my core muscles after surgery. It did go away as the healing continued
  5. Surgery date weight : 240 Current weight :215 Original Thanksgiving goal:215, since I hit it, I will now make it 212
  6. Everyone was right. I have lost again now that I am out of the 3rd week. Funny how that works .. Thank you everyone for your help!

9 days post op and STARVING, why?

YES!!! I went through the same thing. Like to the point of insanity. I had a hard time with protein drinks bc I wasn't allowed milk by my surgeon- water was gross with it-.. and I was on the acid reducer as well. It does pass, I promise. As soon as you get to the step to eat eggs, canned chicken etc..you will be full quickly. Best of luck & hang in there

    Telling about surgery

As of his post yesterday- he hadn't. I find it interesting that just yesterday he was commenting on a post that discussed just this- judgement... http://www.bariatricpal.com/page/articles.html/_/healthy-living/no-a-daughter-reacts-to-moms-decision-to-have-wls-r301 Let's be civil to each other, regardless how well anyone does, or how anyone gets through it. Many of us made the tough decision as to whether to do it or not... and we all could use a little encouragement

    Telling about surgery

I guess I don't understand... if you want to save the world.. then why are you pointing out people and their flaws? Being bullied into other's way of thinking and depression is just as hard a struggle as people that are overweight. So live and let live. Honestly if you wanted to help others so much, why be so hard core on telling them they are in denial and that they are wrong? One would think you would be happy for the other person in taking steps toward a better life. Which is what you did say you wanted. Hearing the things you have to say and being so critical is EXACTLY why many of us keep things to ourselves. Because there is always someone to criticize a decision, regardless what it is...I can just see you at my job saying" She is trying to lie and act like she didn't go under the knife" WHO NEEDS THAT? It's no ones business what I do with my body. Period. I prefer to just be happy. This is supposed to be a SUPPORT group, so can we support other's decisions to do as they choose? Tell or don't tell... everyone is allowed to choose for themselves and I don't slight anyone regardless how they go about it.

Yes!! i work under 4 doctors and then my boss has her PHD. Soooo they alllllll know so much better than me. And they are all against surgeryfor this, well all but one of them. They are all psychiatrists, and only one will even do the psych evals for any bariatric surgery. Did I mention they are all stick thin? lol

    Telling about surgery

I don't feel like I am hiding anything. When I had to have some female surgery done, I didn't tell anyone then. Honestly, I am just not a sharer of info like that. And I wouldn't ask a co-worker about their personal surgery or info. I do have a very critical boss that would say I CHOSE this and wouldn't need to be off work for it etc.. She would be googling what I am supposed to do and pretend to be my doctor. No thanks! Also, when my best friend had hers done.. and people that see her now.. it's never " wow, she looks amazing" or " wow, she has worked so hard" it's " yeah but she had surgery to get skinny" It infuriates me to hear it said about her and I have defended it for so long. The last thing I need in the struggle of recovery is to hear negative comments. I do get great motivation here, and from my 2 people that do know. Even though a few close friends don't know about the surgery, they continue to support me working out and eating well. If I had someone working out with me and eating the same and was to get frustrated and not understand why they weren't losing the same as me- then I would tell them in private so they wouldn't be discouraged as though they were doing something wrong. Otherwise, this is my private journey

    Telling about surgery

Only 2 people know that I have had it. My husband... and my best friend who is a critical care nurse, that also had the sleeve done a year & 1/2 ago. My own son, mother, grandmother, co-workers.. no one knows. I did have hernias repaired during surgery and that's what I tell them I had done. Period. Around here, surgery is looked at, as the easy way out. As if it isn't terrifying and a struggle. And also, I don't want everyone watching & judging me daily. This is mine.. and I want to keep it that way. I lost 55 lbs all on my own, in about 5 months before I ever even thought about having this done or contacted a dr. I worked my butt off and ate right.. then I hit a huge plateau and could never get past it. So everyone knows how long and hard I have slowly been losing. I will just keep on working hard at it.

    The day has arrived!

Many of us have those same fears. I was so terrified that I even made videos, set up an email account that I sent emails to, and planned much of my own services- just in case. I have a son that I love dearly, and wanted to leave behind memories of me, advice for the future etc. They did have a hard time waking me up, and the next 48 hours really stunk.. but after that, I have done great. So even in the times it seems tough, remember that we have all been there and we have made it. We understand your worries. Praying for you today

5 days post op, gurgle coming up throat

It's weird how different dr's progress people on their eating schedule. I was on full liquids until 21 days, so 23 days total including pre-op. Then I was allowed to try eggs at 22 day mark post-op. I am not allowed to try chicken until 4 weeks. A friend had this done.. and she was able to progress food-wise much quicker also. Best of luck, hope all goes well
