Hi! I'm just looking to see if anyone in Central Illinois wants to talk and commiserate about the ups and downs of the sleeve. I was sleeved on 2/2. Hope there is someone close!

Hi! I'm just a little over two weeks out from my surgery on the 2nd. I have been at the same weight for a few days. I am getting in my 80 oz. of water, and my 80g of protein, and yet, the scale isn't moving. I have a pretty active job, so I always up and moving. I guess I just need to hear some encouragement, or any suggestions on what others did to jump start their weight loss again. Lastly, I do three protein shakes a day, and two small 2 tbs. of shredded tuna and chicken, which is part of my programs food choices. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hi! I'm from Springfield, so not too far from Urbana. I had mine done on February 2nd. So just a little over 3 months out. -
How many calories to lose faster?
Stephanie Ged posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! I just reached my two month mark on Tuesday, and so far I'm down 40 lbs, which is great, but I was wondering how many calories everyone was getting after 2 months. I know my dietician said I can't work out too much because I don't have enough calories going in now. I'm getting around 870 calories a day, and I know I will eventually be between 900-1100. How many is everyone else getting? What is the intensity of your workouts? -
I had 4! They said they typically have 5.

Anyone have trouble sleeping after surgery?
Stephanie Ged posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone! Ok, so, I used to be able to take naps, and get a full 8 hours no problem. I am two weeks post surgery, and I can maybe get 5 hours a night, and then I'm wide awake and raring to go. Even now, I am sick, and would love nothing more than to sleep, but I'm wide awake on here. Anyone else have this issue? What did you do? -
Anyone else in a stall?

Thank you for all of the encouragement! The article was very helpful. I will try to stop weighing myself, and just follow the plan. -
Sleep Quality After Sleeve
Stephanie Ged replied to Justoperated's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! I was having the same problem. I would only be able to sleep 3-4 hours a night, and I did have some really weird dreams. I talked to my Surgeon and my regular physician, and said both sleeplessness and weird dreams are very common. They told me to take melatonin. I don't fall asleep in 20 minutes, but I sleep really hard now, and a full 8 hours. Maybe try it! I hope it works! -

I drink Nectar shakes, but that's mainly because there are no carbs or sugars in these shakes, which I know is a big deal for weight loss things. I'm open to hearing whatever else you are trying. I, too, am getting bored with just one flavor that I like. -

Anyone have trouble sleeping after surgery?
Stephanie Ged replied to Stephanie Ged's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's not just me then! I went to bed at 11:45 tonight, even though I laid in bed starting at 9, and I woke up at 3:50. This is so annoying. I'm going to see my general doc tomorrow, and she also works with the Bariatric team, I'm going to ask her for suggestions. I will let you all know what she says. -
Didn't loose as much as I thought I would at this point .....

I'm two weeks post op and I feel the same way. I'm down about 8lbs since surgery, and I was getting really frustrated, but, I realized that my body is in starvation mode, and I need to step up my protein intake. My programs goal is 80-90grams of protein a day. So I have three small meals, and 3 protein shakes. I'm going back to work next week, so I hope that helps kickstart my workout. Also, if you feel down, measure the inches you've lost. My chest and hips are down about 4 inches each!! This alone made me super stoked. -

February 2nd anyone?
Stephanie Ged replied to Stephanie Ged's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey everyone! I'm almost two weeks out and doing much better. My main incision is still healing, and I have to pack it everyday, which is not fun at all. I've moved on to soft proteins, but can barely get a teaspoon down. I'm getting my fluids in no problem, and been working on my protein. Anyone else having incision issues? I feel so lazy, but the binder has been my absolute best friend. How is everyone else doing? -

Hey everyone! January is almost over! I'm so excited. Just 2.5 more days, phew! It's been a loooooong time coming, but I'm very happy it's almost near. I go into the hospital at 5:15 am on Monday, should be done by 8 am! If I don't talk to everyone before Monday, good luck with your surgery. I'm wishing everyone the best! -

It's almost 2/2, and I'm getting super excited. So many people are sick here at work, so I've been lysoling everything and washing my hands a ton! I know I can't get a cold before surgery! I must admit, with the shakes my hunger is almost gone, once I drink them, I feel fine again. I'm down 11 pounds in a week and two days since starting the pre-op diet. I'm ready for it to be over! How is everyone else doing? -

7 days until surgery! Getting closer! I'm so worried about catching a cold, but I've been trying to get enough sleep, and take all my vitamins. Hopefully I can stay healthy for another week! Hope everyone is counting down! -
February 2nd anyone?

I'm on day 5, and I promise it gets easier. Yesterday my co-workers had a pot luck, and I sat with them and had my shake and yogurt. Yes, it smelled soooo good, but after I had my shake, I didn't have any cravings. I just kept telling myself, "Focus on what you can have, not what you can't" It has been my mantra. I have found that getting out of my house has helped as well. Staying busy is key! How is everyone else doing? -

The pre-op diet is going easier than I thought it would. In our program, I have to do high protein, low carb, low calorie. So I'm basically having 4 protein shakes a day, and I can have unsweetened applesauce, regular oatmeal or cream of wheat, greek yogurt with no chunks, and as many non-starchy veggies as I want. The first day was awful! I had the worst headache, which I'm assuming was from the sugar withdrawals. I went yesterday to meet with my surgeon, and I was already down 4 pounds in 3 days. My program recommended the "Nectar" protein shakes, which are AMAZING! I could drink the chocolate truffle shake all day long. I use unsweetened soy milk because it has more protein. I'm 4 days in, and I feel like I can do this. I know it's more mental than anything! How is everyone else's experiences? -
Anyone on February 2nd? I start my pre-op on Monday the 19th, and I'm super nervous. Would love a surgery buddy!!
