Anyone use Dr.Vohra Hewlett NY
Cathyjo replied to cruummbs's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
No but I don't think they are a center of bariatric excellence which is very important. -
Make yourself a nice sweet protein shake and drink that instead. Get the cereal and candy out of the house.

The rate of weight loss does not stay the same. Why do you want to lose slowly? It is what it is. You had weight loss surgery.! -
2 months post op/ feeling malnutrition
Cathyjo replied to Account deleted's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 10 months out. I get 60 to 80 protein and 64 oz liquid. I keep my carbs low but not super low. I get my carbs from fruit and dairy, not white carbs. White carbs have little nutritional value and take up too much room in my sleeve. I take 2 multivitamin daily, a sublingual b12 and 2 calcium citrate with D. The sublingual or chewable b12 is critical for sleevers because so much of the stomach has been removed. Cells in the stomach make something called intrinsic factor which is required to absorb B 12 in the stomach. Because sleevers don't make enough intrinsic factor, the B12 has to be under the tongue or chewable. GNC makes a strawberry chewable B12 which is very tasty. My NUT says at one year I will go down to one multi a day. -
Does anyone else hate the way they feel after they eat

Sometimes the truth hurts. The old days are gone. This is a whole new ball game. Do your best each day. Celebrate each day. Celebrate your accomplishments. All of us are courageous for having this surgery. I celebrate each and every day that I am alive and healthy. Think about where you were before surgery. Obese, miserable, etc., Move it forward, not back. -
Gastric Sleeve Experts... Please Chime In!
Cathyjo replied to lillita's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon said the average weight loss with a sleeve is 1 to 2 pounds per week. I lost 103 pounds in 9 months which is 93% of my excess weight. If I can do it, anybody can. No tricks. I just followed my eating plan. A lot of protein, low carbs and the elimination of all white carbs, bread, pasta, rice, noodles, etc. I just stuck with it and the weight came off. -
Hernia repair with gastric sleeve?
Cathyjo replied to 4me4them's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had both done at the same time. I had some pain in the upper part of my chest when I swallowed but nothing that lasted. Having the 2 surgeries together did not delay my recovery. -

I would stop counting calories. We all failed on diets that counted calories. Count Protein, carbs and fluids. Those are the big 3 of success . -

6 pounds lost is better than 6 pounds gained. Try and give the weight loss a new spin. Celebrate your accomplishments. Celebrate your courageous decision to get healthier. -

It gets better. Try shrimp. My sleeve loves shrimp. Tuna salad, seafood salad, chicken salad all made "wet". Scrambled eggs with cheese. Ricotta with 1 or 2 tablespoons of marinara sauce with a layer of shredded mozzarella warmed in the microwave. Cottage cheese with salad dressing Hummus Cheese sticks. Dannon light and fit Greek yogurt. Ham and cheese roll ups. Keep trying new things. I eat something protein every 3 to 4 hours. Not much but enough for fuel. I eat to live not live to eat. Good luck. -

I am 10 months out from a sleeve. I eat all foods but just smaller amounts. The best thing is now I control the food. The food does not control me. I have my life back. -

Be careful what you are eating. Your new sleeve has to heal on the inside.
