When did you start gaining weight
KikiVal315 replied to georgia girl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
...title is a joke:rolleyes2:. but i remember my dad saying when i was only 4 or 5 mos old, he got a cupcake and smeared the filling around my mouth and i went CRAZY. he said i was 'destined' (sp?) to be overweight. or maybe it was my grandma taking me to mcd's EVERY single day after pre-school? so i think i would say i started gaining weight since i was a baby. poor eating habits were inflicted upon me i guess; i did try doing something about it in h.s. lost a whole bunch of weight, but of course gained it all back and then some.:mad2::glare: -

Are you usually "on time" for work?
KikiVal315 replied to TerriDoodle's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
i'm usually 10-5 mins early to work, unless there's an accident or ppl on their cell phones (LOVE SO.CAL!) then i 'm probably in right at 8. but at my old job, since the pay was horrible and managers demanded workers to bust their asses for nothing, i would come in 30-45 minutes late...never heard a complaint...then again i would leave at 7or 8 at night...:cheers2: -
katie & misty- i'm on the same boat! i have no one really who's going through or went through wls; i'm the first in my family! and not everyone knows, only a handfull of people in my family know...give me a buzz, i live in norwalk.

heheheh! i tell my hubby the same thing. he's 30; he's a stick and stuffs his face with anything & everything. i did tell him to watch out cuz all of that will sooner or later catch up to him and i'll then be the skinny minnie:tongue2:

lol, i like the jaeger part! glad to see you're back and congrats on entering bandland! i'm thinking on doing the same thing and going MIA. not because of the freaking out thing, but i always stay on here way late, and i'd imagine you need to be relaxed leading up to & day of surgery. . . -

hi ellie- i don't live in s.d. but i will be passing thru for my surg. i'll be getting it done in t.j. too; before i had crap insurance that didn't cover l.b.& now i got blue cross but don't want to jump through firey hoops to get approved:rolleyes:. i live north of you in norwalk, too bad!!! i'm looking for a gym buddy too, i get lazy real quick. i keep on telling myself, oh tomorrow i'll go...tomorrow...and it never comes. i still have a ways away till banding, but i do know that exersise IS important before and most certainly after surgery and for the rest of our lives. i have started changing how im eating and that's surpisingly going great! well, good luck there girlie, and if you need to talk p.m. me =)

in all of these situations, you best believe i would have thrown down some verbal bitch slaps. i don't care...when people are rude and pigheaded (ie-kat's neighbor against big guy; your poor neighbor went out of her way to explain and that @$$hole still created a huge scene) or age...i know my momma taught me better, but that still doesn't make it okay for an old biddie to tell you "stuff". (like jlobyxmas, i'm on the same boat as you. i'll be the nicest person you know, but disrespect me or talk crap, oh you're so done for!!!) pix i know your son was with you, but oh man, that did take a lot of restraint! i hope you can get that episode out of your head sooner rather than later.

Has Anyone Wanted to Eat and Eat before pre op
KikiVal315 replied to yellowroseaz's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i did feel that way in the begining; i thought, 'hell, im going to be banded in a couple of months, my world's going to change, live it up now before banding.' funny thing is, i didn't nor haven't been going overboard with food. as a matter of fact i'm starting to train myself, and re-think my food choices, quantites, no drinking liquids with food, etc. so when i do get banded, it won't be such a shock for me. i started doing this about two weeks ago; first week was awful. i was missing my big lunches and even bigger dinners. but on week two, i didn't have any cravings or missing those big meals. i'm okay now...on to week three. -
that stinks don't it??!! today at work like around 10:30ish (still considered Breakfast time mind you) two of my co-workers ordered pizza and breadsticks...HOW DARE THEY. it filled up the room with yummy smells and of course these girls offered me some; you'd be proud, i was strong and said "no thank you." not to mention these girls are of average size and eat JUNK all the time and stay small...i'm so jealous, lol. but your right size 4's in your mind and i'm pre-band with goals too. we know its all worth it! keep up the great work!!!
-
lvly- first off, hugs to you. you're not a failure; we're all human and do make mistakes. you fell off the horse, so what? dust your bottom off and get back on. the important thing to remember is to get back up again. food is like an addiction as mentioned, try to take it one day at a time. i hope you feel better soon!

you need to do research...LOTS to be honest. here in the states and in Mexico, you will find the best and the worst. i woundn't pay attention to anyone's claims on a bad doctor; do your own invesigations. some people tend to make false claims, others really push their doctors;maybe getting money out of it, and some are undercover patient coordinators advertising around. (there was a problem about that in an old 2007 thread...it got really nasty). this really helped me in with my research: "How to research a Mexican doctor" go to: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f11/resea...s-101-a-43575/ that i copied from a fellow lbt member, wasabubblebutt, i haven't had the chance to thank her yet, but the above link really helped! good luck to you

norwalk, ca -> s.e. los Angeles county anyone need a gym partner, let me know (l.a. fitness)

i'm 5'7, my goal is 155; seems so far away right now  but when i used to weigh 190 i was a size 10/12 and i was so happy to look 'normal' but most importantly i looked healthy & my curves were still there but everything was in a tight neat package. i really do hope i don't loose my booty at goal weight; my husband and i both love it!!! but i guess booty exercises can help with that, if not surgery to regain my latina-ness!!! lol :biggrin:

What to tell co-workers
KikiVal315 replied to Rachel In L.A.'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
uhhh, im on the same friggin' boat! i just started this job back in december and i'm already debating on telling my managers. i kind of do want to say 'medical procedure' and im hoping they won't ask for details. i've only told one person at work so far. i don't know, maybe as time gets closer to my surgery, i might spill the beans! -
thinking about having surgery
KikiVal315 replied to terriruth's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
hi terri, welcome aboard! well, i'm to be banded in may. i cannot wait to begin a new life. i had never been able to keep my weight off, but now due to health reasons, i'm ready to make some serious changes and i already started making some. just know that you will have to do research before you come to a decision. you might upset some people along the way, but your husband is right: its what makes you happy. and remember, the lap band is a tool; so you have the power to make it work to its full potential. if you have any questions, you're at the right place! best of luck to you... -

what to bring along pre/post surgery?
KikiVal315 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
hello- I'm kind of new; I was doing research on banding late 2007. I finally have a surgery date. The last time i was on lbt.com, there was a great thread on what to bring with you pre and post surgery. I will be driving to Mexico for my procedure, and I was hoping to get tips here from all the pros on what to bring with me; necessaries and those little things that will help comfort in a time of discomfort...
