As a future sleeve patient and an OR nurse I can tell you that we DO get the gas out but the CO2 happens to irritate the nervea and causes referred pain up to the shoulder and stuff. BUT, I can also say that I have had laparoscopic surgery before and didn't have that shoulder pain at all. It was easy!
