It really doesn't matter if this was happening in the US. Even if there was no welfare system in the United States at all the good ole government would find something else to do with our tax money, like start another war with another country etc. I think that the welfare system needs to be reformed in a serious way, people should only be allowed to receive welfare/food stamps/government housing for a certain time frame and during that time frame they should be going to some kind of technical school to better themselves. My sister is a single mother of 2 children(ages 15 and 9) and she makes $12 per hour at her job, she was told that she makes "too much money" to qualify for food stamps. She lives paycheck to paycheck. This government is seriously f***ed up in the way it "helps" people.

It is hard to tell how someone is meaning something with typed words, you know what I mean? We all have different personalities and we all have our own sense of humor. I used to be like you, couldn't do it no matter what. I had a girlfriend tell me about doing it and I asked her how she could b/c I would literally gag at the mere thought of it. One time I just put it out of my mind, focused on the fact that DH was LOVING it and just kept going.

You know I say to each his own. It is not that I like it per say, but my husband gets imense pleasure from my performing oral sex until he has an orgasm and it is simply easier for me to swallow than to run for the bathroom and spit. I personally dont like the idea of having him warn me so that I can remove my mouth and him to ejaculate all over himself or me. I dont think of myself or my mouth as a trash receptacle. Do you let your husband perform oral sex on you until you have an orgasm?

I say if you don't want to tell them then don't. If anyone asks how you are losing weight, tell them diet and exercise b/c it is not a lie. It is nobody's business except for your own. I haven't been banded yet but I have told 2 co-workers and my family knows. Everyone has been supportive of the decision. I have not told my other 2 co-workers because 1 I am sure is the one that would say something about the easy way out etc. and the other is a man and we aren't close at all. My hubby is supportive and my family is supportive and that is all that matters. I'm sorry your family wont be supportive but at least your hubby is and that is all that matters.

I dont know if this is true or not but I heard on the news that Oprah is planning to have Hilary Clinton on her show. I don't watch Oprah because I work but if I happen to be off of work and she is on I will watch if her topic of the day is of interest to me. I don't go out and buy a book just because she said it was good and I certainly don't plan to vote for someone just because Oprah or any other celebrity have endorsed a candidate.

lilacbeauti58- you can get the records from the ER and use those weights. You will need one weight from 2007, 2006 and 2005. I don't think that the dr prescribing you Phentermine 37.5 will count towards the 6 month diet. I was told it has to be a diet like XX amount of calories per day. I am using weight watchers and am 3 months into the 6 months. I hope to be banded by July. June would be better but as long as it is done by July I will be happy. You also need to check your policy to see if they have a pre-existing condition clause since you haven't had insurance for the prior year. Where are you attending your seminar? I attended the seminar at St. Vincent's East(formerly MCE) on Nov 17, 2007. I had my initial consult with Dr. Miles on Jan 17. I hope this info helps you.

I am 31 years old, have been with my husband for 16 years(will be 17 in Sept) and we have been married for 12 years(13 in June). Ever since I started dating my husband I noticed his mom was not quite normal. He told me she had "attempted" suicide several times, she would get angry with him and kick him out of the house for something like failing to feed the pets. My husband was adopted by a very nice man who had a daughter from a previous marriage. She told me when she was living with her dad and step mom(my husband's mom) that she witnessed her get angry with her brother(my hubby) because she was helping him with his homework. She was HELPING him NOT doing it for him, his mom came in the kitchen, saw her helping him and proceeded to come back into the kitchen with a 13 inch tv and throw it at them. Their father promptly told her she would go to rehab or she could pack her things and go. My hubby was 12 at the time, his sister was 16. His mom was drinking at the time. Anyhow I am giving you a little background to get to this. Three weeks ago she called my hubby's cell phone and our oldest daughter(13) answered the phone. She first asked for me, which was odd considering she has my cell number(we only use cells, no landline), my daughter told her I wasnt home. She then asked for my hubby and my daughter told her that he was busy(he was cooking dinner), well my psycho mother in law proceeds to tell my 13 year old daughter that she is tired of this and that etc and that she is planning to kill herself and hung up on my daughter. Of course my daughter freaks out and my hubby tries to call his mother and she wont answer the phone. He isn't terribly worried about her and honestly I couldn't care less what she says she is going to do. The reason for such attitudes from us is because over the last 16 years she has "tried" to kill herself no less than 20 times(seriously). OK. Now most people who really want to kill themselves actually do it. She is what I call an attention whore. If the spot light is not on her she can not stand it and must do something to get the attention she craves. SO this last time she actually stabbed herself in the stomach in front of a police officer, was taken to the local hospital and the MENTAL HEALTH worker LET HER GO!!!! WTF!?!?!?!? So I have blocked her from emailing or sending me instant messages as well as doing the same for my children. So now she is ticked at me for this and is threatening to call her attorney(for what I am not sure) and she is threatening to send my work some info on me from 10 years ago. Does anyone else have a nutjob like this to deal with?? Oh and for those of you reading and wondering the info she is referring to is this: 10 years ago she lived with us for about 3 months and she had an account with Fingerhut and she told me I could order some stuff, so I foolishly did. THen she got mad and moved out, called the cops and told them I was ordering stuff in her name without her knowledge etc. and I had to pay for the stuff right then, which I did. I was NEVER charged with anything and I guess she thinks she is going to send that to the company I work for.

I told my husband that if he wanted to continue to see his mother/have a relationship with her that was fine, I would not try to stop him. I told him that I will not see her ever again nor will our children. I personally dont understand how after 32 years of head games and these stupid things she does to draw attention to herself he would want to continue to see her but I am not going to tell him not to.

I have been told here in Alabama that state and Federal BCBS does not require the 6 month diet.

Andy~ Congrats on approval!! :wink2: How long was it from when your surgeon submitted the paperwork to when you got the approval? I am 2 1/2 months into my 6 month required diet. I have already done the seminar and support groups, I have to do the sleep study on Feb 11 and have not yet scheduled my psych evaluation which I will schedule tomorrow. My surgeon told me that I will have to do the nutrition class/surgery prep class(one class for both subjects) but I cant schedule that until I have my surgery date. I hope to be banded in June or July.

I had my first consult with my doc on Jan 17. I asked about the pre surgery diet and he said right now they do not require it unless someone is over a certain weight. He did say that his partner is pushing to start the pre surgery diet and by the time I get around to having my surgery(should be June or July) they may require it then. I only have to have the psych eval and the sleep study done. I am 31 and my doc said based on my history besides being obese I am healthy there I do not need all of the other testing done.

Luluc-that is terrible that she would not allow the child to visit the man she knows as dad. She will pay for that in the long run-I firmly believe in karma and eventually it will come back around to her. As for my sister and her ex. The guy turned out to be a pedophile, molesting my daughter as well as 3 other children that we know of. He spent his time in jail(and my sister received NOTHING during this time) and was released. Well he met some new woman, got her pregnant and ended up murdering her. He is currently incarcerated and awaiting trial. My sister cut all ties to him after they briefly reconciled(when their child was 5) and she became pregnant again and he insisted she have an abortion. So their oldest child recently turned 15 and their youngest will be 10 in May. She wants nothing to do with him and would rather struggle to make ends meet than have anything to do with him. She makes $12 per hour and per state guidelines here(Alabama) she makes "too much" to qualify for food stamps or any other kind of government help. My husband and I help out as much as we can but we have 4 children of our own.

I have 4 children, ages 13, 10, 7 and 22 months. I never thought of abortion when I found out I was pregnant with any of them. The first 3 were planned children, the 4th one is a result of my taking antibiotics while taking birth control pills and not using a backup method of contraception. While shocked my husband and I were both excited by the fact we would be having another baby. I am glad to know that if for some reason I had a reason to have an abortion I could have done so. Abortion is not the right choice for me BUT if my sister or friend decides to have an abortion that is their decision NOT mine. And for these people arguing about viability-a fetus that is 12 weeks(meaning 12 weeks after conception) has a heartbeat, has brainwaves, has eyes, has everything really but if that fetus is "born" there is very little chance it will survive. I think that is what some people are referring to when they say "anything less than a 50%" chance of survival. I have a friend that knew from about week 13 that something was wrong with her baby, she had some kind of blockage of the urethra(sp?) that had stopped her kidneys from developing properly...the doctors called this condition myosistic kidneys. They informed my friend that the chances to deliver a viable baby were less than 40% but she put her baby's fate in the hands of God. She made it to 24 weeks and her labor was induced because she had severe hypertension(which was intensified by the baby's condition) and it was becoming dangerous to her health to continue the pregnancy. Her daughter was born, she weighed 11 ounces and the doctors told my friend that her heart was "twittering" meaning it was trying to beat on its own. They told her they could work on the baby and get her heart going but they also told her in their medical opinion she would suffer. My friend told them no to leave her alone, if God wanted her to live she would. She did not. So I feel it was a no win situation either way for my friend. IF she had an abortion she would have always wondered "what if" so she had the baby and the baby was officially listed as stillborn and she still wonders "what if". The decision whether or not to have an abortion can never be easy for anyone I dont think.

It really is a terrible situation for this man to be in. I feel bad for him but at the same time I have to say it is not this little girl's fault. And I can't believe after 10 years he is just ready to abandon her-makes me wonder if he really loved her at all. I think the justice system is really backward in this country. My sister sued her ex boyfriend for child support(they were both teenagers) and a state required paternity test was done and of course the child was proven to be his and he was ordered to pay her a big $50 a month in child support...yes that is FIFTY DOLLARS PER MONTH. $50 per month won't buy enough diapers and wipes to last the month and wont even put a dent in the cost of formula.

Kat thanks for the info!! How are you feeling? How bad did you feel after surgery? How bad is the gas...I have seen some people say they had little gas pain and others say they felt like they were dying. I am more scared of the gas pain than the actual surgery.

I was told that once you submit the paperwork it can take up to 30 days for approval. I don't know personally as I am only 2 1/2 months into the 6 month required diet. I hope to submit paperwork for approval by the second week in June and really hope to be banded by July.
