Everyone keeps saying UHC Oxford doesn't require weight loss in the "6 month motivated attempt". I've gain like 12lbs. I was dieting before I started then I've been sick off and on for like 4 months. I pray to God that I won't be denied because of that. I'm so tired of this stress of insurance approval.

Carbs
Stephanie Salsera Perrott replied to Sunnybaby's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The NUT suggested porition The Nut suggested eating your protein first (say 3oz-4oz chicken) then have your carbs. You may find you only have room for a bite?? You've lost 98lbs!!!! Congrats. There are so many theories as to what is the right thing to do, avoid it all together, portion control etc.... Only you can solve that answer. Good luck. -
Non-Food Relaxing Actitives
Stephanie Salsera Perrott posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm curious about "relaxing" activities. Things you can do for example in the evening after you've exercised and had dinner. I'm thinking something with my hands might be good? Here are some ideas I've come up with: Jewelry Making Scrap Booking Facial Pedicure Knitting Phone games Warm Bath Cleaning out drawers mini projects like repainting a side table calling friends sewing Any ideas?? -

Why is it important to eat after dinner
Stephanie Salsera Perrott replied to jaysleever's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
We're here to support each other during a surgery that is unknown and scary not to judge what each other is eating. This is a positive board not a food debate board. Now that I got that out of the way I would dare to say a HUGE % of us on here have lost large amounts of weight previously and already know what to eat and drink. Cheers everyone. -
Pre-Op Liquid Diet -- SO hungry!

I thought if a dr required liquid diet it would be a few days not two weeks. What's up with that??/ -

I'm so wrapped up in worrying about the insurance approval I'm having a hard time thinking about all the awesome things... ughhhh 19 days till I can submit paperwork -
I have a question for all you Post-ops! How does keeping weight off with sleeve compare to keeping it off with no help? I've lost 70lbs on weight watchers before and got as low as 188lbs (44lbs from goal) but honestly I think I was able to stay at that weight for literally a day lol. Just wondering how much the sleeve makes a difference one you're close to goal... thanks.

Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Stephanie Salsera Perrott replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Question for all the Post-opers.... First couple months I can imagine your dropping a lot and adjusting to your new tummy. What happens after say 9, 10 12 months? Is your appetite exactly the same as before? This is all assuming you've been following the food guidlines and didn't stretch your stomach out etc.... -

Thanks my friend. I had a come to Jesus moment last night after my NUT group meeting. I talked to myself in the car: "what are you doing? you want this so bad but you're not willing to do some work on your own before hand? Even if UHC approves me I need to lose weight prior to shrink my liver AND and i need to prepare for all the work after surgery. I had a real do or die trying moment and I said I'm going to do this. No More Excuses. I love this board! it's so helpful. Your advice about after surgery not having a choice if you're sick etc... good rude awakening!! keep'm coming!!! -

I just got off the phone with UHC and they basically said I can't be denied because of weight gain/loss or staying the same. That said I do think that I've been eating "bad" because subconsciously I might be feeling like this is my last "hurrah" if that makes sense. Kinda like going crazy before you go to prison. Like food jail. Isn't that terrible? I definitely wasn't doing it purposely so who knows. I do have to put my foot down though and start preparing. Thanks Ladies!!! -

Well.... I'm up but here's the thing 2nd weigh in I had a sinus infection for like a month so I couldn't exercise and really wasn't into dieting. I gain 2lbs. 3rd weigh in was after christmas I tried to lose but ended up gaining another almost 2lbs. 4th weigh in I had influenza (flu) for the past month and 1/2 gain another 2lbs... THEN! i got a sinus infection again! and now I'm weighing in tonight for my 5th weigh in and I know it's going to be a gain again could be a 12lb gain by the time I'm done. I'm so scared. I've done everything else perfect. Everyone said UHC Oxford doesn't look at weight but I can't imagine them not seeing the gain. Ugh. Add on top being sick for almost 4 months straight. -

JerseyCityGal - First off congrats! that's so exciting. Seems we are about the same stats and I love your progress! Couple questions if you don't mind... 1. Did UHC Oxford mention anything about your progress as far as weight loss? I've gained some weight because I had the flu and basically sat around for days on end.... 2. My Bariatric facility seems to think right after my 6th visit with the NUT we can submit my paperwork my only concern with that is that's only 5 months total on the "motivated attempt" I'm wondering if that's true... I'm so worried about the weight gain it's driving me crazy!! Any encouragement will help. Thanks. -

Scared husband
Stephanie Salsera Perrott replied to heav85's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your "chunkyness" is not who you are. Who you are goes a lot deeper than that. You can look at this a million ways i.e. he's insecure, he married someone cause it was comfortable etc... but the truth of matter is you are who you are and whether the outside improves or deteriorates over time real love is powerful enough to overcome such superficial things. I'm glad he's being honest with his feelings but doesn't mean you should enable him. I would suggest instead of him wanting it because you want it so much how about supporting and trusting you. Good luck. -
