    February 3rd Sleevers

I will pray for you Jazmundo. Having a feeding tube sounds awful, I hope you can avoid it.You are doing great with your protein intake, so good job there! I am moving on to purees today, sounds like nursing home food, however, my surgeon said I will probably like this phase (I am on it for 3 weeks) as there is more variety and flavor. Best wishes for your appointment today!

    Finally joined the forums!

I am sure you will do well. There are quite a few band/sleeve revision people on this forum and they seem to do fine.

    Recovery period experience?

I had surgery on Feb. 3rd.I had no issues with gas and had no pain meds after I left the hospital. My stomach muscles were a little sore as if I'd overdone sit-ups. I did have severe nausea that took about 4 days to leave ( I did have to take anti-nausea meds at home). I walked 30 mins every day and felt pretty much "normal"after 5 days. I am really not tired, or weak, in fact I feel very well.
  5. There are quite a few people on this site that have gone below their goal weight and are maintaining that weight. It is great to have that physical object (pants) as a tangible goal to reach for. Good luck!

Booked in for feb 27th in the uk :-)

After the third day the pre-op diet is pretty easy. Try to stay busy the first days. Good luck!

Goal weights? And photos for "shorties?!"

I am 5 2 1/2. I would like to be around 130 lbs, however if I get anywhere around 150 or below I will be pleased. My surgeon never set a goal for me but he did say they figure you can expect to lose 65% of your pre-surgery weight. That would be a big disappointment.

    Can't eat anything... Help!

Oh Jazmundo how I do relate! I had surgery last Tuesday. I find greek yogurt (lime flavored) is the easiest "protein" for me to get down, however it takes me two to three hours to finish 5oz. The Protein shakes are a real chore. I am lucky if I get 32 oz of Water down a day. Last night I was determined to finally finish my one Protein shake of the day and pushed my little tummy too hard. Man was I uncomfortable for about 4 hours, salivating, foaming, it was awful. I couldn't even go to bed until it finally resolved itself. I think I pushed myself hard because I had been to a group post-op meeting and two smug self satisfied people sitting across from me were exclaiming how it was so easy to get 64 oz of liquids down every day plus Jello, yogurt soup etc. I sat silently detesting their cheerfulness and their recipe concoctions for the full liquid diet we are on. Lesson learned- I will try to get in what I can, however, the goals they have set for post-op protein and liquids are just not realistic for me. Maybe not for you either. It is a steep learning curve for all of us, and as many have said we all respond differently to our new sleeves. As we have been assured many times-it will get better!

How long was your hospital stay?

I ended up staying two. I had severe nausea and could not get down all the liquid they wanted me to. I still couldn't get enough down after the second night, however I begged to go home and they took pity on me and sent me with nausea meds.

What Does Valentine’s Day Mean to You?

Been married to my husband for 38 years, don't really need Valentine's Day to know and or express our love for each other. When our children were younger we used to enjoy taking them out for a special lunch/dinner as they were our little loves!

    March 10th starts my journey

I think you will find invaluable information here. The information I gleaned from all the people here prepared me for my eventual surgery, I felt I had a pretty good grasp of the good, the potential bad, and every complication imaginable, but I would always live in hope that I would be like so many other people here and have the best possible outcome. So far so good. Best of luck on your Quest to a healthier you!
  16. Really???? This is new to me. I would think people with good dental hygiene and regular dental visits would not have any more problems than non-WLS population.

    Before and after picture

    You have done well!
  18. I had planned a few things I wanted to have "my last" before my pre-op diet, and then my surgeon's office called and since my insurance approval came back so quickly they moved my date up by two weeks and I had to start my pre-op diet that day! No regrets though, I know some day if I still would like those things I will have them- just smaller quantities.

    Bougie size

I asked my surgeon what size bougie he would use and was told a 40fr. I was very happy with that answer. He also explained that there is only mm differences between sizes, and he felt there were fewer issues with the larger size and weight loss would be pretty much the same.
  20. When you go back to the prep area they will keep you so busy that the time for surgery arrives in a flash! Good luck!

    Urinary catheter

I did not have a catheter either. I expressed my concern about my urgency incontinence and was outfitted with a pad and the spongebob squarepants undies the hospital provided. I was fine with that.
  22. Thanks for the update nprcowboy. I will, as many others here keep praying for you. So many complications for one man to go through.
