you go to the main site, aetna.com, then in the "search" field you type in "bariatric surgery" - otherwise it wont come up or you have to search through pages of crap. -
Congrats!!!!!!

I have my 3rd apt out of 4 with the "3 month" physician on the 25th... and my 90 days is over end of next month. I did my sleep apnea overnigth testing over the weekend... and am getting my medical records together, although I do not have 5 years in a row, I have 12 years of being pretty grossly overweight. So we'll see- its going to come down to whoever reviews my file and if Im denied Ill appeal it. Hope everyone else keeps chuggin along as well!

I have PPO and am currently going through the 3 month supervised program. My 2nd apt is friday. I have spotty medical documentation for the 5 year history... but severe GERD and apnea. If Im denied I will appeal. Chuggin along......

I have Aenta PPO and I am "covered" - but it remains to be seen whether they approve me or not. I am getting all my ducks in a row and getting a sleep study done since I do not have a consistant 5 year history.

I am 23 and hoping to be banded March-ish of 2008.

This is my issue..... I switched doctors a year and a half ago.. the old clinic I used to go to, I would always 'opt out' of being weighed because I was so embarrassed about the skinny little nurse seeing my weight. So Im not sure if I can provide proof of being so heavy for so long :c(. I stopped letting them weigh me. Am I screwed? The woman in insurance coordination says that if Aetna denies me, they have a lawyer that for 1100$ will take the case and run with it. Has anyone with Aetna been denied and then had their appeal overturned? I want this so bad and will be devastated if I cant get banded because I had such low self esteem those years ago. :help:

Aetna 5 year problem.. and appeal advice?
dogluvr replied to dogluvr's topic in Insurance & Financing
thanks for the input... the insurance coordinator is optimistic about the outcome, but we'll see! -
I am going through the process of trying to be banded, gathering the info, found out my insur covers it... and I dont know if having it done will have any adverse reactions to the meds I take. I was hit by a drunk driver and suffer slipped discs in my neck and nerve damange and am on a pain management agreement. I take 4-5 pills a day. Is this going to be a problem... with digestion... or whatnot?
