Finding the right fill level.. Can you relate?
dogluvr replied to jennalee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Granted I've only been banded for 2 months, but I prefer my band tighter. Thats why I had the surgery, I need something to tell me to stop eating. Its forcing me to chew like crazy, which takes time, so I dont just hack it right back up. The little bites, and feeling of fullness right now is whats working for me. But maybe when my weight is lost I will feel a little different and want a more flexible fill amount. -
Yeah I live in Everett right outside Mukilteo off the Muk BLVD

^ They did that to me too, with the scheduling. They made 3 apts 3 weeks out in a row- I cancelled my one for this thurs but am keeping the one on the 29th. I PB'd yesterday on a veggie omlette I didnt chew well enough again.... I think my restriction is pretty close to my sweet spot. I like Audrey shes really nice, but Im glad that Dr Montgomery is doing my fills for the time being because I have a puppy crush on him lolol

CHEW YOUR FOOD! Yesterday a coworker and I went to Toyama's and I ordered 2 pieces of fatty tuna and one yellowtail. And a half order of calamari. Well, calamari at a Japanese joint is tempura batterered. I was so hungry I ate a whole 4 inch iece and a bite of another one. I didnt chew it well. I spent the next 4 hours barfing and holding my chest like I was going to die! It was so nasty. I had to leave work, and barely made it home without spitting up and driving off the road. Please, CHEW YOUR FOOD! lol, and no more calamari for me!

Good luck to everyone waiting on approval with Aetna, or are chugging through the approval process. Hang in there.

Yeah I did actualy. I was really bruised over my port site, and I have a panic disorder so I kind of leaked tears through the whole thing, and then when I made it out to my car I lost it. I did go back to work through.

The short of my first fill was, audrey couldnt find my port. She poked me with a needle 9 times, pressing on it, and found out I also have a lot of scar tissue. So into the xray I go to get the fill. She couldnt get it in with the xray either, so she called the head nurse Jessie in, (whos amazing!) and she poked me 10 times and dug around and felt like she was jumping up and down on the same spot 23445 times. At this point I started to freak out a ltitle, and DR montgomery had to come in and get the big ass needle, he numbed me up witht he lidocaine (bless him!!!!!) and in 10 seconds he was done. Apparently my port is deep, (I carry a lot of weight in my front apparantly) and Ihave a lot of scar tissue. And you have to get the needle directly into the center of the port at an angle and the nurses like couldnt get it. So Dr M is doing my fills now. He did my second one weds the 14th and it went smooth sailing. Handsome surgeon. Heh. /swoon Ive def got restriction now Im at 6cc in my 10cc band.

I paid 250$ for the psych eval, 25$ copays for my 4 apt s for the 3 month regime, and then 989$ is whats due for the surgery after Aetna paid. I checked online at Aetna Navigator and they paid almost 19,000$! <3 Aetna! So total for my surgery 1350$ about.

I dont believe this to be a true statement. My friend, myself, and a coworker did the 3 month regime and were approved all the same.

Apparantly the time from surgery to your first fill is called Bandster Hell. We can make it! Just heal, try not to go overboard, and know soon the weight is going to FALL off. :biggrin2:

Crap. Lol. Counting the days until my first fill on the 30th. Ive still managed to keep the weight Ive lost off- but havent lost any weight in a week. Any other early April bandsters got their appetite back? :glare: Okay so Im not pigging out but I do actually have hunger now.
