Diane, I'm also sorry to hear that you are going through this. Many wishes are sent your way, along with strength and love. Second opinions are always best, glad to see your doing that. Take care of yourself.. You have been through so much lately, you are one strong person. God bless you and your family. Take care, keep your chin up and most of all... try to be positive. Hi, Well I'm not a nurse.. but I had to go in for my pre-op testing and that included a EKG. I also have HBP, the day I had my appt. my BP was 161/90 and I didn't have to lose my surgery date. When do you have your pre-ops? Every situation and Dr's rules are different, this was just my experience. Best of luck to you.

Just to update.. I got my approval a day after I posted my last post. It took me just under 3 months from start to finish to be approved. Like i said, it was great because my first appt. was a day long process from 9-4 and I got to see everyone that I needed to see in one day. Then I lost ten pounds within one months time, the nutritionist gave me an appt with the Dr. 2 days later, along with my temp. surgery date.. pending insurance approval and boom i was approved within 2 weeks. I will be banded on July 27,2006

I will be having a full body lift, when I'm around goal. I am actually on a savings plan with a Dr. in my area. We'll see how long it takes me to get my cash together. LOL I might be dead first.

just wanted to tell you all the NH speedway was fun, the race was great. It was a long ending though... wasn't it?

congrats to all of you who have been banded, it seems like you all are doing so good. keep up the good work. I really hope I feel as good as you do so soon after surgery. Keep posting.. Leona.. thanks for the food info. Anyone else have any suggestions on what they liked and didn't like. What protein powders were good and what ones you could do without.

Marlluvia, sorry to hear that you are going through all of this BS. This is one of the reasons why I have chosen to only tell my Husband. It's upsetting to hear that one of the few people in your life that you should have full faith in, to stand by your side and keep alll your secrets safe, failed you. BUT you'll get through this. I know you can't do anything about it now. As someone has said the cats out of the bag, BUT do your best to stay positive, you most likely will have your family watching over every bite you have, making neg.comments and telling you what you should be and should not be eating. Just tell them to keep there neg. comments to themselves and that you are doing your best to use this"TOOL" that has been giving to you. Unfortunately this tool doesn't work overnight and you'll have battles and struggles often, just as we all do, with or without the band. Every once in awhile give the smack back to them.. When they pick up food that they shouldn't be eating.. tell them, just as they would tell you... "It's not good for you, should you be eating that?" :mad: Anyway, best of luck to you.. Stay positive, keep your chin up and prove them all wrong.. lose those pounds.. watch them melt away!

Funny, I know this might sound nuts to you.. But when I went in for my post op teaching class the other night.. We were told that if we had uncomfortable aches or pain in the port area.. Ice it for 20 min. at time through out the day and night. I hate ice, personally.. but try it out and see if maybe you'll get some sleep after the first try or two with the ice. A few people who have been banded said it worked wonders for them. But all of us are different.. Just a suggestion.. Best of luck

Sherri and Funny, when you read this.. I missed you a lot!!!!! I was starting to get worried about you ladies. I thought maybe you have decided to move to Mexico. It's great news to hear that you had fun while getting surgery.. LOL sounds weird doesn't it? BUt how awesome to have a buddy with you, in what could have been one of the most exciting days of your life. How cool was it to hang out the night before and just let loose? My Dr. didn't put me on a pre-op diet either. He said that alot of Dr's are getting away from the liquid pre- op, as well.

LOL I kill me.. I met with the surgeon today and he was giving me all the pre-op info. and then he led into the "NO SEXUAL INTERCOURSE" from now until I let you know it's okay... You don't want to get preg. and then after, you'll need to recoop. ... so in my cute little voice I said.. "Can I give my husband oral sex, to the fullest"... HAHHA you should have seen his face! He turned a nice shade of red.. and said ummm I'll be right back. He came back in a min. or two later.. and said. You can do what you want.. but that wasn't my thoughts on clear fluids!! Your husband is a lucky man and by the way.. can you talk to my wife and let her know that girls really do like to do that! LOL Okay, I now have to tell you, that I do know the surgeon on a friendly level.. I wouldn't have the guts to ask, if he wasn't a family friend.

I met with the surgeon today and he told me to wait 2 weeks. I know all Dr's are different, but I asked for myself too. I live on a lake and I was curious.
