    Don't Laugh! MAN-BURPS?!

I do that as well and I have read where a lot of banders have as well. Mine usually happens as the food is passing through my band. My stomach makes the loudest weirdest sounds at all the wrong times but it is what it is:)
  2. I would just Like to have the vitamin chews and calcium chews. Someone else can have the bottles of vitamin pills and protein powder:)
  3. I am interested. Mostly for the vitamin and calcium chews.

    Second day post-op

The pillow definitely helped with the pulling feeling. I carried mine around with me for the first week. Try putting a pillow behind your back and then one kind of under your side and against your stomach. It will support your stomach so it doesn't pull. I'm all healed and ready to start back exercising but instead I'm bringing in the New year with the flu:/ Hope you get some rest hun!

    Second day post-op

It took me about a week post op to actually get a good nights sleep. I'm a stomach sleeper so it's been rough. I am 2½ weeks post op and sleep on my side with a pillow against my stomach. I can't wait to get back to sleeping on my stomach. My stomach doesn't really hurt anymore except for a little tenderness around my port. I want all the tenderness to be gone before I try sleeping on my stomach again. Good luck to you hun and Congrats on being banded!

    Blood Thinners

I give myself one the night before surgery and the hospital give me one the night after my surgery and I gave myself shots for 9 more days. I took my last one last night. Mine was called Lovanox.
  7. My band was super tight right after and for the first 5 days or so. I was just banded on the 12th myself but I am noticing that I am getting hungry more often now. Be careful what you choose to eat. I've had my first real stuck experience last night. It was awful and it scared me. I just didn't chew it enough and it would not go down. I had to make it come back up to get relief. So chew chew chew and try not to eat too much at once. Mine has been about 2 ounces of chunky foods and a little more of softer foods. It's definitely a new learning experience. This forum is loaded with just that...experience and very helpful people. Happy learning lol:)
  8. If you feel up to it I say go for it but I wouldn't lift on anything. I'm a stay at home Mom but I know after a few days I could get back into Mommy mode lol. Take it slow. Congrats on being banded hun:)

    January 2015 Banders

Hi Solagirl:) YaY on your upcoming surgery:D I was in the hospital just one day. When I woke up I was very groggy, in and out and SO thirsty lol. They made sure I didn't hurt by giving me Morphine so pain was mild. They want you to walk as much as you can as soon as you feel up to it. I did that night. You will notice the restriction of your band as soon as you drink something. I know I did and my band is empty still. That night off of my dinner tray I ate a Popsicle. I was full lol. It's odd because it's a liquid once it melts but that tells you what kind swelling there is after surgery. I'm 6 days out and liquids do move through quicker now. But I still only can eat about 2-3oz of food. I reuse jello cups to eat out of bc of the size. I can comfortable eat a half of a jello cup of food and be full. It's amazing:) I wasn't going to weigh yet but I couldn't resist. I've lost 6 more lbs since my surgery. So that's your proof it works:) I haven't even started exercising again yet either. Gonna heal completely first. My stomach healed pretty quickly. I am still pretty tender around my port site but its healing great to. Keep me informed on how it goes hun. You will be so proud you made the decision to be banded!!

    How are you eating pre-op?

Wow! Lucky you:) I can understand wanting to have a little of this or that before surgery just because you won't or shouldn't have it afterwards but be careful because if you take in to much sugar, carbs and fat, it will enlarge your liver and that will then make it difficult for your surgeon to safely get to your stomach to do the surgery. That is why most have the pre-op diet. Heck, I did a pre pre-op diet to prepare for the actual pre-op lol. I am so glad I did. It helped so much. I say if you have something you want one last time, go for it. But only a bite or two and make it that one time. It's good discipline now to teach yourself to eat different so that you succeed after surgery. Good luck hun and Congrats on your upcoming surgery:)

    January 2015 Banders

Hi there hun:) Yes i am very short lol and Yes I did a pre-op diet. It was a 10 day all liquid diet. I won't lie...it definitely wasn't a breeze BUT for about 2 weeks leading up to my pre-op diet, I starting drinking 2 protein shakes and at supper I would eat only about a half of a cup to a cup of lean meat. I highly recommend doing this to prepare for such a strict diet. The diet is so very important to shrink your liver so that the doctor can perform the surgery. There were some days I felt like I couldn't do it but I did and lost almost 7 lbs in that 10 days. From November 20th to surgery day Dec 12th...I lost 16lbs. I was so proud of myself:) I am still healing. I am a stay at home Mom with a wonderful hubby that won't let me lift a finger right now but if I did work, I feel I could as long as I didn't lift anything because my port site is still very tender. I really wish you all the best hun and please keep me updated. If you ever have any questions, just shoot me a message!
