  1. Got the call today. I hate to say it but this is as bad as a child waiting for Christmas! Three weeks are gonna take forever to get here. Was so hoping to have it by years end but they said that there were several people who's insurance would be terminated on January 1st so they wanted to try to get them all in first. Oh well, the important thing is I was approved and have a date. This just gives me more time to loose a few extra pounds and shrink the liver. Lol Good luck to all those who have their surgery between tomorrow and the end of the year. Chime in and let me know about your experiences. I would so like to hear about them.
  2. Well, I am down a few more pounds. I weigh less than I have in a lot of years. I am at 235 from 303 since my first consult on July 18, 2014. They want me to be at 200 by my next follow up on April 2. I have stalled out a few times on my weight. I still can't eat but a few teaspoons and I have to stop. For the last week though, I have been throwing up a lot. Not sure why. Very mucusy. And I know before hand as I get that "frothing" that they talk about. Shew....anyone else have that problem? Been very emotional too lately, which everyone is blaming my surgery mixed with hormones. I don't know. Can others share their experience since surgery? Would like to think I haven't gone off the deep end...lol. Thanks
  3. How are you feeling? I was in terrible pain also. I have just started feeling like myself for about the last week and a half or so. Hope you are feeling better and things are a little easier for you. Take care.
  4. Sorry, I know I haven't logged in lately. A lot been going on between family life and work. By the time I sit down at night, I am worn out. Things are going ok. I have lost 26 lbs since surgery. Was still really sore up til about a week ago. Still eating creamed soups and liquids as I can't seem to eat any thing else yet. It hurts. Dr. wants me to try again tomorrow. Hope everyone is doing well. I will try to do better about checking in. Best wishes to all. Take care.
  5. I seem to be the only one that is having a very hard time with this. Yesterday was my first day out of the house and it took all I had just to go to church. My back and right side is very painful when I stand just for a few minutes. I have not been able to get even half my intake in due to every sip is painful. This morning has seem to go a tad better with the sipping. I also have my first follow up this afternoon. Mixed feeling about it. There wasn't much communication and interaction with my surgeon before surgery. His nurses and staff took care of everything. I think I found out why. The way he talks down to his patients like they are idiots and have gone into this like they know nothing, was very hurtful when I made a call into him Saturday evening. He talked to me like I was a 2 year old and trying to stuff a double cheeseburger down my throat. I called him because I was concerned that I couldn't get down any protein, had only been able to get about 30 oz of water in since Wednesday, and felt a huge knot above my large right incision. I told him I had tried to take about 5 one half teaspoons of broth in in about 10 minutes and every half teaspoon hurt. He said well 5 teaspoons is too much. I said, I didn't say full teaspoons, I said half teaspoons. He still didn't hear me. He said you need to take 4 or 5 teaspoons and then wait 10 minutes more so and do it again. His lack of not listening to what his patients are saying scares me. He has a great success rate. I don't doubt his abilities as a surgeon but his bedside manners SUCK! Not sure how I am going to handle our visit today. Part of me tells me to just go in, let him check me out and then leave. The other part wants to express how I feel about him. He hasn't personally had this surgery, so he can't possibly imagine how any of us feel and what feels normal and what doesn't. All of his words are based on textbooks. I am not the least bite sorry I had this surgery but am somewhat regretful it was with him. Not seeing him the 6 months throughout the wait should have thrown caution lights I guess. Some people can tolerate a bad attitude and I can too to a degree but DO NOT treat me like I am an idiot and went into this surgery blindsided and act like I am not "playing by the rules". I have worked hard to get to where I am this very day. All his nurses said they wished all their patients were as organized and a go getter like I was. Please don't think I am bragging on myself. I just did as I was told or asked. They made the statements. Anyone have any of the same problems or ideas on how to handle it? I am glad all seem to be doing well and God bless you all as you continue on with your journey, those still recovering and those yet to have their surgery.
  6. @ - I couldn't imagine going shopping now especially for 4 hours. I don't have staples, he used glue to close me up. And cottage cheese is off limits for two more weeks for me....does anyone have the gurgling feeling in their esophagus and stomach every time they eat or drink anything? It is so getting on my nerves.
  7. I am finding out that the sugar free jello and Popsicles that I loved so much is toooo sweet now. The new whey protein shots taste twice as bad. Water and chicken broth is what I am living off of. Had a small episode earlier with getting faint but was over in just a few minutes. Think it must have been a drop in my sugar. Bp was fine.
  8. Day 4- still quite sore. Walking as much as possible. Not getting all my fluids in. Stomach is constantly gurgilling. Right arm right above elbow is painful off and on. I am trying to stay positive. I don't regret doing it, just wish it would hurry up and heal. Tried not to get too descriptive but here is the two main cuts of 5. The one on the right is the most painful. That is the one they pulled my stomach through.
  9. Well, I am 2nd day post op and feel like crap. I am shaking and it feels like there are bricks building on top of one another from my neck down to my stomach. This is rough. I knew it would be but no c section or hysterectomy I had felt this bad. Trying to think positive. I will write more later. Good luck to all of you out there.
  10. Well today is the day ladies and gentlemen. For all of you that are having any type of wls, my hope for you is a successful surgery and a speedy recovery. I have been waiting for this for 7 months and it is finally here. I have been anxious for today to get here but now I will have to say that I am a tiny bit nervous. Who wouldn't be? This is a major surgery but best of all, the beginning of our new lives. I am blessed to have such a great group of supporters on here. Just know I am cheering for you all too. Have a blessed day. Will post later.
  11. Well, tomorrow is the big day for several of y'all. I wish you all the best in your wls and am hopeful for a speedy recovery for you. I will be starting my 1 day liquid diet in the morning. I have to be there at 5:30 Tuesday morning. Not sure where I am scheduled in line but oh well, the good thing is I am in line. Headed to bed. Will probably post again tomorrow. Good night all. Sick, hungry, headache

How much water should be mixed with the bouillon cubes without killing the flavor?
  14. Well, I had my appt. with my surgeon yesterday. I have pre-op tomorrow at noon. They said it takes about 3 hours. Scheduled to be at the hospital on the 6th at 5:30 am with a one possible two night stay. Is it sad to say that my life is centered around this surgery now? That is all I think about. Started my protein shake for breakfast and dinner and a high protein meat and low carb veggie for lunch yesterday. Won't deny I was kinda hungry when I went to bed but I stayed out of the kitchen. After pre op tomorrow, I am going to go do some shopping to get what I need for after the surgery. I am making a list of what few items I am going to take to the hospital. Chapstick is on top, seeing that is what all post-op sleevers HIGHLY recommend. Everyone else ready??? What are your thoughts and feelings as we are just a week out, some others longer and others right around the corner?? Voice it!!

Congratulations and best of luck on your surgery.
  17. I have been told to buy everything chewable until you can tolerate regular food again. I have already started my multivitamin and calcium, both chewables, before my surgery. Hope this helps. It's getting closer. Final surgeon appt on Monday.

    Any December 23 sleevers?

Good luck with your surgery. Mine is January 6. Let us know how it goes.
  19. @@ms_ladybug Congratulations on your date and welcome to the group. What better way to start out the new year than with a great tool to help make us a healthier person? And what better support can you find than others that are going through the exact same thing? The baby plate helps to keep your proportions in check and is a visual in your mind that your plate is full, well for me 2/3 full. At first my mind said "that's a baby plate, your an adult. You need more than that. Your gonna starve to death." Won't lie. The first few days took to getting used to but with a little determination that I was gonna do this, I don't even think about it now. Let us know about your journey. It's great to share experiences and thoughts. It may just help someone else through a rough day or help achieve their goal. Best of luck to you.
  20. @sleevedmanda Main thing to remember is NO bread, Pasta, rice, potatoes of any kind, corn, green peas, soft drinks of any kind. Easy way of remembering most of it is that if it has more carbs or sugar than Protein, don't eat or drink it. I don't have it with me right now but tonight I will post my sheet that my dietitian gave me. Been a life saver. Have a great day.
