Last week I got some disappointing news and found myself eating some French fries left behind by my family from their dinner. While I wouldn't usually beat myself up about this, I noticed that it was completely connected to my emotions. I wasn't hungry, I wasn't even craving the fries. I was feeling down and automatically reached for the fries. Today, I found out that one of my kids has been lieing to me, which caused an array of emotions ranging from sadness to anger, and again my mind went to food. I recognized it and didn't feed my emotions, but still, I have discovered that the potention for that pattern still exists inside me and so I had to vent to the only people that could possible understand.

I regret this surgery
cantseemytoes replied to QueenTiff's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, it's not easy and you'll learn to adjust to your own life as you go. I'm 2 yrs post o.o and I eat pretty much anything I want, slowly and in moderation. I know too much sugar gives me stomachs pains so if I'm craving sweets, I have just enough to stop the craving. The trick is to not overindulge. It'll get better, I pronise! Exercise question (spin, walk, barre)
cantseemytoes replied to dreamynow's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
2 years out and boy do I remember those days. I would walk half a block and feel out of breath. The first time I walked a mile and a half I was about 2 weeks out. I spent about an hour napping to recover. Doctor cleared me for light workouts at about 4 weeks. Now, I can drink tons of water, as long as I do it before or after eating. It looks like that stays with you. I hike or walk 5 miles 2 to 3 time a week and take ballroom dancing classes 2 to 3 times a week. I've kept of the 120 lbs I lost even though statistically, I should have gained some of it back by now. The nutritionist I go to says the trick is that my exercising is a social even for me since both my hiking and dancing is done with friends. Don't worry, it'll pass and you'll be back to your active self in no time. You might even end up a little more active. [emoji6] Sent from my SM-G935T using BariatricPal mobile app -
What are you eating 8 weeks out?
cantseemytoes replied to Alisa11/18's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I alternated my protein shakes because after a while, they start to taste really chalky. I'll do one month or so of the vanilla flavored and then i buy the powder for the nectar protein drinks. I prefer the strawberry kiwi flavor personally. Its not as thick as the vanilla/chocolate shakes. Its 100 calories and 23g of protein per serving. I drink it like as part of my regular water intake, not as a meal replacement. Even 2 yrs post-op I still have at least 1 protein shake a day so I had to find something that works for me. Falling back into emotional eating
cantseemytoes replied to cantseemytoes's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's a scary thing. I'm 2 yrs post-op and you'd think by now if be over it. I had even deleted this app from my phone, but no one can really understand unless they've been there too. Thank you! Sent from my SM-G935T using BariatricPal mobile app -
Crossed over a few "speedbumps" this past week!
cantseemytoes posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I know it sounds silly, but I felt the need to post this. I don't even know if "speedbumps" is an accurate phrase, hence the quotation marks. 1. Last week at my son's back to school night, I sat in a high school desk.... without having to squeeze in, or even having my belly rub against the desk. I was actually quite comfortable. 2. I went to the county fair on Sunday and went right through the turnstile. No need to go through thw stroller gate. No need to get on my tippy toes so my behind could go over it. No need to suck it in so I could squeeze through. It was like finally beating my nemesis. 3. This morning I cross my arms and realized they were crossed over my mid section! Usuallu, when I cross my arms, they sit on top of my boobs, but now they are under my boobs. I don't know how long I've able to do that! :-) :-) -

Donating clothes that no longer fit and I want to give it away
cantseemytoes posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm just about 3 months out and I've gone down from size 26/28 to 20/22. I've decided that it's time to get rid of some of my clothing, but I'm not sure I want to take it to the Goodwill. I've been there in an attempt to find transition wear and I haven't really had much luck, so donating it would be helpful to anyone like me, who needs transition clothes after surgery. But I also hate for someone to have to pay for clothing that I'm no longer using so..... If anyone lives in the Inland Empire and needs clothing in sizes 24-28, it's yours. I've already donated some, but I have, you can have for free. Contact me and we can set something up. -

Go back to the basics. Drink plenty of water, make sure to get your protein, and exercise. Good luck, you can get back on track. -

I usually donate everything from kids clothes to furniture, but I thought I'd try something different this time. -
One and a half years out - gastric sleeve surgery
cantseemytoes replied to sweettea's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
1st congrats! I'm about to hit 3 months and it's still an adjustment. I can't wait until I'm 1 year out. Off the topic.... what do you take for your migraines? I used to take a combination of Tylenol and ibuprofen, but now that I can't take ibuprofen anymore, I don't know what to do. My last migraine was over a month ago so I just took the Tylenol that was prescribed after surgery and that worked, but eventually that will run out. This migraine is really bad, nausea, dizziness, sensitivity to light and I'm dealing with it at work. -

Protein protein protien
cantseemytoes replied to yibarra4's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I've started drinking Nectar protein drinks. It's not so much a shake as a drink mix. It has 23 g of protein per serving and comes in a variety of flavor. It was listed on the recommended protein supplement list given to me by my surgeon. Here is the complete list, which include the places where you can buy each. -
May I get some advice?
cantseemytoes replied to iamblessed1225's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I like Metamucil. I asked my surgeon about drinking it and he said he was fine with it. It also helps get in a few extra oz of liquid and the citrus flavor tastes like tang, and the fiber helps you feel full in between meals. Plus it's not a laxative so it helps you go to the bathroom without making RUN to get there. Miralax is also good. My son has had digestive problem in the past and his pediatrician prescribed it. But it's more of a laxative. -
Trying to get to the onerland:

You're doing great! I'm also 40! I started my program at 294 bit dropped to 264 by surgery. I was sleeved on June 3rd, making it just over 2 months ago. I'm now at 228. Don't fret about you'll weight loss. I stalled for 2 1/2 weeks and was almost in tears. I kept think that I had failed ... again, but my friends on this sight helped me realize that it's just part of the process. Plus the Dr. confirms that it happens and happens often. She also said to stop weighing myself so much (I weigh myself everyday), and to switch to weighing in only once per month. I'm still working on that. It'll come off, that is a fact! Just keep working out and following your plan. :-) -
Welcome! I'm 7 weeks PO and recently got over a 2 1/2 week stall. Happy to say I'm 29 lbs done from surgery, 59 lbs done from the beginning of the year. This is a great place to keep yourself encouraged and to find support during the inevitable hard times. Once again, welcome and of course.... CONGRATULATIONS!

I'm one month out of surgery today. During my first 2 weeks out, I lost 15lbs. The doctor send I was doing great and that was higher than average. The next week since then I've only lost about 3-4 lbs. The last few days I haven't lost anything, but I've fluctuated up and down a few ounces. I've followed my eating plan, measuring and weighing my ally foos. I'm tracking using My Fitness Pal. I'm back at work so I'm walking 2-3 times per day. What am I doing wrong? Could it be that this is all the weight I'm going to lose? Did I cut up my body for 15 damn pounds? Leading up to the aurgwry I lost 30 lbs eatong 1200 calories and walking. As good as I was feeling a few weeks ago (right after surgery), I'm feeling disgusted now. I feel like my worst fear about this surgery is coming true... I failed at another attempt to lose weight.

I'm stick and I'm losing hope!
cantseemytoes replied to cantseemytoes's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I know how yoi feel. My poor son was the victim of my wrath last night. As they say, trust the system, right? I think part of my problem is that I'm not sleeping right. I'm only getting 5-6 hours a night, and I know from my experience at the start of my journey, that lack of sleep effects my weight loss. Got to get back on track. -

Thanks for the article. I know it's just temporary and I should probably keep track of inches as well as pound so I don't go CRAZY. It's funny, my mind knows the 3 week stall is a real thing, but my emotions are stir crazy ping through it. :-) -
I'm 4 1/2 weeks out and I'm doing great
cantseemytoes replied to armiller's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm 4 weeks post op too. Haven't tried testing the limits of my stomach. I've also lost only 3 pounds in the last two weeks, eating as per plan and walking 2 to 3 times per day. I'm frustrated and sad. Hope you're dealing with it better than I am. -
I know the feeling. I'm stalled and I just hit week 4. I've lost about 20lbs. I'm so sad and frustrated!

So excited!!!! Had my 2 week post op appointment today and I'm down 15 lbs since surgery, that's 45 down since January 1st this year! This just keeps me motivated to keep walking. Plus doctor cleared me for light aerobic exercises starting this weekend and weight training right after 4th of July. I'm soo happy!
