Getting tired of nothing but shakes and protein. What fun is there in drinking this?
-
Well, had an appointment with the surgeon this morning. Everything went as I expected. I was down another 5 pounds. I am down a total of 31 pounds since my heaviest of 405!!! Things are looking pretty good. He said I'll be in the hospital for 1 night and out by 2 on Friday.!!!

Well, 3 days of this all liquid diet and then....SURGERY! Nervous, excited, struggling, feeling a little down...i want a steak, a peanut butter & jelly sandwich, pringles, pizza, etc., etc., etc. HOWEVER....i have to continuously remind myself of all the benefits! Good luck to us all!

HANG IN THERE...its mind over matter. You'll be glad that you stick to the surgeons recommended diet! Be STRONG! You got this!!!!

Started my "all shakes" diet today. Piece of cake. Sure the temptation is there to eat a spoon full of ground turkey my kids cooked up but im quickly learning to direct my attention to something else....like a shake. Was surprised to hear from the bariatric nurse today that ill be in the hospital for only one night....which made my day. For some reason i had it in my mind id be in for 3 nights.

i too hadsomr issurs with PCP. He was dead set against this surgery. I have been fighting him on it for about 3 years. Realizing i pay his wage, i basically told him im going to do what im going to do....your either going to support me or not. Of course he is looking at just the potential negatives....which sucks to have a dr whose focus is there. At any rate, youll be fine...just get it into your head that "you CAN do this". Take care!!

My last solid breakfast for a few weeks...yippie!!

Well, last day of having my rabbit food..hehe. Tomorrow I begin a week of all shakes and pureed fruits. Im down a total of 14 lbs in just 6 days and feel pretty flipping good. Ive consumed more avacado, potatoes, carrots, brussel spouts and asparagus than i have in the last 15 years. My body is clearly recognizing this as I am craving more and getting hungry faster. The protein shakes with PB2 is helping along. Tomorrow begins a new phase in this endeavor...the body will be freaking out for sure. Ah, yes, let the head games begin!!

ok, so I'm on day 4 of the pre-op diet. I started our last year at my heaviest at 405lbs. Scary huh? Then, after the first of the year, I was down to 395. Odd, considering I ate like a KING over Christmas and Thanksgiving Day. 395 pounds was my starting weight when I started the preop last Thursday (march 12th). I just weighed myself and was pleasantly surprised....384lbs!! I'm down 11 pounds and I've done nothing other than eat exactly what the dietician has told me to eat. I havn't worked out at all! Scary how much I'd be down if I hit the gym. If nothing else, it's motivation to my family that with the correct foods (all perishable) and portion control the weight will drop off. It's time to get after it all!

Love4peace...i hear you loud and clear. My surgery is set for the 19th and it feels like eternity!! If nothing else, these 2 weeks are preparing me mentality for a food fight...more like a war on food! Stay strong...you'll be fine.
-
Not sure if this is normal but im 3 days in to my preop diet and am not hungry. It's almost as if im becoming afraid of food. I know that this cannot be good if it goes on for an extended period if time but wow...a week ago i was woofin down big macs. So, im convinced its a mind set, not a disease as some are suggesting.

hey Jill, its a brand of a shake my dietician provided me. They seem to be ok and taste good too. I use a blender bottle which make it more smooth. Hope all is well!
-
Ok, well started my 2 week pre-op diet. 2 kiwis, 1 banana, 1 HMR 800 shake and a vitamin. Hey, its no chik-fil-a spicy chicken breakfast biscuit but ill take it. I feel....pleasantly satisfied.

I start 2 week pre-op diet tomorrow, surgery on the 19th. Nervous as ever but cant wait to have ankles again...lol...no seriously though..it'll be nice to eat absolutely nothing and feel stuffed!

I'm March 19th. This will be the 3rd time I've attempted. Nerves and the thought of not eating whatever I want, whenever I want has me freaking the heck out!! Food has become my god essentially.
-
I'm scheduled for March 19th, 3 weeks from today. Foodfighter78 has some good advice, PRAY! God says in scripture to put all your cares upon Him and He'll give you a peace that passes all understanding. Try it, you might like it!!

Where is all the fellas at? I'm in Sioux City and will be scheduling surgery for a 3rd time this coming week. The first 2 times I put it off because it just didn't feel right. After researching a little more, and realizing that this will be just the tool I need to finally get my butt in gear (since I love to work out), and move on to the next chapter in life, I am going to schedule a 3rd time. My problem is this, I LOVE TO EAT and contrary to popular belief, us men are emotional eaters...just ask my wife!

Hey all, back on November 28, 2014 I smashed my shin against a step and it caused a mild case of cellulite. I was prescribed a high dose of an antibiotic on 2 different occasions which has eliminated any infection I assume. However, there is still a baseball sized spot on my shin (see pic). My question is if anybody has had this and if this would prevent my February 10th surgery date? Of course, the doctors would be able to tell me but am curious of other's experiences. Thanks!!
-
I'm no longer on the anti-biotic. Workmans comp wants me to go back to the Dr. Just to make sure. It was quite large. I've had 2 different doses of the same antibiotic. I just hope and pray this doesn't set me back yet again.

Not cellulite...cellulitus (I can't stand auto correct)

Hey, what are you most looking forward to? (Other than being post-op...)

Also, it'll be nice to have and wear clothing that fits and looks right too. I am wondering though about my skin...I read somewhere that bariatric patients could take a particular supplement which would help reduce flabby skin... -
Eli...I just looked at some pinterest pics and WOW...you are right, the "sparkle" is back in their eyes!...a confidence!
-
Eli..I too am a few week's out from surgery and feel a tad nervous. From what I can gather, as long as we precisely follow the doctors orders, we should be in good shape. Good luck to you!!

Hey all, for me it'll be the energy I'm looking forward to and being able to buy clothes anywhere I want!! -
Hey all..was at 405 lbs...with current weight at 395 and the surgery is set for Nov. 20th. I'm shooting for 275 lbs. as a goal weight but everyone I talk with says I'll likely hit 220-240. One woman even thought I'd hit 190 but I don't believe I'll get that low. I want to look healthy.
