Hey yall! So I was just wondering what kind of protein shakes yall use. I started off with the premier protein shakes but decided to switch over to body fortress super advanced whey protein powder. I switched bc the premier protein just was too chocolatey for me. If anyone uses powder, what do you mix it with? I mixed mine with whole milk, but I'm not sure if that's allowed after the surgery... I have my surgery next Friday so I started drinking the protein shakes again today to get me in the habit.

Foods that are a no nope not gonna happen!
yungshi replied to Countrygrrl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had two bites of a Chiquita banana and five minutes later, I was reaching for the closest bag in my car! Definitely way too sweet! I can't tolerate bread but can tolerate whole grain rounds but usually only eat one half of one. I can do steak but really really slow! I cut my pieces into tiny pieces and chew about 25 times. I usually have to end up warming my food again lol. I love love love deli turkey!! -
Absolutely no desire to eat or drink...

So I'm almost two months out, surgery was 11/14/14 and I have lost around 30 pounds. The weight loss has slowed up a bit. I go to the gym about 3-4 times a week and also go to the park and walk with my sauna suit. The problem is, I have no desire to eat at all. Eating is not enjoyable for me anymore...I guess that's a good thing. But for the past two weeks or so, I've only been eating one "meal" a day and a few slices of deli turkey when at night. I have no desire to drink anything but I do so I can stay hydrated. I'm just really bored eating the same thing. This coming Saturday will be my "week 8 and beyond" mark and I can basically eat anything that I can tolerate, except steak. Any suggestions?! Thanks -

Absolutely no desire to eat or drink...

I'm pretty sure if I didn't make myself eat, I wouldn't eat at all and wouldn't think twice about it. And I know this surgery wasn't meant to do that. According to MY nutritionist, I'm supposed to be eating by now but I have no appetite/hunger feeling. It's almost like I have to set an alarm to make sure I eat. -

Thanks yall! I definitely don't get in all my Protein. That's also a big problem for me. I'm supposed to be at 70-80 grams a day and on some days I may get 1 gram. I have Premier Protein but my no desire to drink really just doesn't help. I'm gonna get back on it though bc I don't want to be bald! -
As of last week, I was down 30 pounds. I try not to weigh myself often.

I have no before pics but my after pic makes up for it ☺️ A little over a month out and loving my progress already!

I'M OBSESSED WITH MY COLLARBONES! I'm just shy of being a month out (I make a month on the 14th). I've lost just about 30 pounds so far. I'm basically on losing a pound a day. My collarbones are now showing! My face has gotten noticeably smaller and I've been getting all of the compliments! My aunt even asked if I photoshopped my face on one of my pictures! Yes, I take that as a compliment. My body in general looks smaller, my breasts are pretty much gone with the wind but my booty is still plump! I guess since it's hereditary! I can fit a medium/large now in pants and shirts. Depends on the material. My legs are smaller, stomach smaller, I'm just so happy. 10 pounds away from the 100s!!!!!!!!! I've been toning my arms and legs and I've been walking at the park and on the treadmill at the gym. My diet now includes grits (but not often), oatmeal, red potatoes, cooked vegetables, canned fruit (light), diet gatorade, green tea, crab grape juice. This weekend I add boiled and scrambled eggs, multigrain crackers, Melba toast. Next week I add baked salmon, canned tuna, stuff to that nature. I've been doing really well, keeping everything down. Only thing I really loathe is those damn Protein shakes! I'm just so tired of them. I'm supposed to be at 60 grams a day and I'm getting at least 30 grams. But today I started drinking on premier Protein shake in the morning, and I'll have one later during the day. I get really really really fast. Like after about 5 small spoonfuls of grits or I can eat about 3 pieces of red potatoes. I'm still having problems not drinking with my meals. food makes me thirsty! That's pretty much it though, I need to start my Calcium Vitamins today also. So that's on my to do list. Well wishes!

So last Saturday my dietician started me on mushy foods and on my list was boiled red potatoes. So yesterday and today I had some boiled potatoes from a seafood place and I don't know if it's me or something but these damn potatoes are EXTREMELY spicy. I don't know if it's because I haven't had real foods in awhile or something to that fact. Can spiciness cause ulcers? I don't feel sick after I eat the potatoes, I just need a sip of something cold but I know I'm not supposed to drink while eating. Eeehh maybe I'll just stop being lazy and go buy some potatoes and boil them myself.

Thanks for everyone's responses! I'm sure it was because it was wayyyy too sugary. I may have had 2 or 3 bites and said I was done. I'm gonna stick to the regular plain sweet baked potatoes and small red potatoes. I'm not on vegetables yet, so there's no eating the Protein first then vegetables then starches. The sweet baked potato is in the diet my dietician gave me. My mom had the bypass years ago and I told her about this feeling and she said she gets that feeling when she eats ice cream. I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving!
-
Ok so my nutritionist moved me up to mushy foods and the other day I had a plain baked sweet potato and had less than half of it. Today is obviously Thanksgiving and I had some home cooked sweet potatoes...some may even call it yams. Right after I finished eating my heart started beating faster than normal for about 15 minutes. This happened only one time before when I ate some scrambled eggs. Is this dumping? Should I be worried about a leak? Helppppppp!!

Tomorrow marks my 1 week since having the surgery and things have been going really well! Although I had to stay in the hospital an extra day, my time home has been a breeze. I don't have to sip on liquids, I can drink them regularly. I'm not hungry at all during the day, I just experience a really really dry mouth and my cravings start kicking in. For example: OMG a #7 from chick Fil a would be sooo good right now. Or an m&m cookie would just be aahhh. When this happens, I just suck on a sugar free spearmint peppermint and go about my day. I must say that by day 5 post op, I was so tired of chicken broth and crystal light. Last night I drained some vegetable juice from a can of vegetable soup and that was pretty good. Today I had a few teaspoons of natural applesauce and made out fine. I thank God my experience wasn't as horrific as some of the stories I've read on here. Temptations do occur, but it's a mind thing. I tell myself, I can do this. I did this surgery for a reason. I'm just ready to get to the part where I can have real food! I've already started looking up recipes for things to cook with wonton wrappers! ???? Almost forgot!!! I'm down 20 pounds in just one week! Super excited!!!

I just had some soupy oatmeal and it was sooooooooo good!!! I even saved the rest for layer of I get hungry again!

Don't be hard on yourself! One thing I've learned from this forum is everyone loses differently! Some lose inches more than pounds and vice versa. Some lose faster than others but we're all losing the weight!

So today my new tummy officially made 1 week old! ???????????? In celebration, my boyfriend and I both got a gym membership. I just went to the gym by myself and did the bicycle for 7 minutes and burned 30 calories. I also did the treadmill for almost 7 minutes and burned another 30 calories. I did the elliptical but I was passing gas so much I stopped (embarrassing)!!! I was afraid to do any strenuous workouts because I am still recovering and haven't been cleared to lift any weights so I just kept it at a minimum. I was a hard on myself that I didn't burn more calories or even do the treadmill and elliptical longer but I have to get used to exercising again. I have to ease it in. I will be back at the gym tomorrow conquering some more! ...forgot to mention, today was my first day around my family since the surgery, and the compliments were just pouring! Everyone was saying how I slimmed down and I was just smiling from ear to ear! Only a select few of my family knew about my surgery so to get these compliments really made my day!

Awww thank you so much! I will update as often as possible!

So I've been out the hospital for a whole day now, and the gas pains come and go...but when they do come, it feels like nothing but a bunch of food sitting in my chest! So uncomfortable!! I've been using gas x strips and they've helped a lot. I also feel like hot tea & broth makes it feel better. When I swallow any liquid, I sometimes get this feeling of throwing up but it ends up being a burp or hiccup coming up. I explained this feeling to my nurse and she said basically the liquid and gas are competing for the space and as the liquid goes down, the gas is coming up. Another problem I had today was the pain/soreness from my incisions. I actually drove to school today and the seatbelt was rubbing all over my stomach. So I've put a pillow in the car for future purposes. Even through all of that, I'm still happy I had this surgery! No regrets whatsoever!

Feeling pretty good.

How long were you in the hospital ?
yungshi replied to ELI.p.m's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on 11/14/14 at around 11-12 and didn't get released until Sunday around 9:30 am. I had to stay an extra night because my lab work showed my white blood cells shooting through the roof. The surgeon was sure it was just my body reacting to surgery but he wanted me to stay an extra night to run tests again. All is well now, I've never missed my bed that much before!!! -
On my way to the hospital ????????????

So it's 7:30 am and I'm on my way to the hospital! My nerves still haven't kicked in. Yesterday was the only day I had to do a liquid diet and it wasn't bad at all. I didn't cheat not one time. I had a peaceful night's sleep. I'm just ready to get it done!!!
