  1. Getting ready for shoulder surgery tomorrow morning. I made lasagne soup with ricotta topping, cucumbers & sour cream, beef barley soup and grilled up some chicken breasts. Hubby cannot cook so it's either that or have him run out for food I don't even like. Everything is done and I can relax the rest of today.

Good luck with your surgery! It sounds like you're well-prepared, food wise. Way to plan ahead! I pray it goes smoothly for you and recovery will also speed along and that the surgery will take care of your problem.

    Message to PCP

Is this letter something your Bariatric team is requiring? My team only required that my PCP was aware that I was proceeding with WLS. Of course when the time came she also performed my pre op physical. From the looks of your message she should have enough information. Your insurance company might require medical records from your previous PCP showing that you have been obese for a period of time. Good luck with everything!

    Hungry pains????

You may be at a point where you need to increase your intake a little. Especially if you are working out regularly. Can you give your nut a call and ask for suggestions? At about 6 months post op I had to increase to between 900 and 1100 calories a day and I am still losing.
  4. I am so very sorry that you are in this situation. At one time in my life my exe husband was abusive and controlling. The only way out was to get away from him and remove that control. That of course sounds so darn easy but as you know it is not. I would definately speak to your therapist or a social worker to see if they can help you get into a different living situation where you have control of your finances and don't have to take this verbal abuse. I do hope there is not physical abuse as well. Stay strong!
  5. I am so happy to hear everything went well and you are on the road to recovery! Welcome to the losers bench! Sip sip sip and walk walk walk
  6. @@claddagh66 Good luck with your tests today! I just had a nuclear stress test last week. It's a whole lot of waiting around and the drug they give you to increase your heart rate without exercise only last a couple of minutes and then everything is back to normal. Hope all goes well so you can put this stuff behind you!
  7. I take 1 generic multi Vitamin with D, 1 Bariatric calcium citrate sweet tart, I take 1 vitamin d3, I take 1 vitamin b1. I also take stool softeners with laxative twice a day. This is because I am currently on narcotic pain relievers. I am on hold for b12 until March because my b12 was through the roof as I was taking it too often. I take the vitamin b1 because my thiamin was low during my last labs. I am not on Iron because I had a hysterectomy, I was told had I still had my period I would have to take iron as well. Other than the b Vitamins my levels have been excellent. I never skip my vitamins, I am very careful because I know that the malabsorption of bypass can lead to problems. I already have significant issues with my bones and joints and would prefer to not make that worse.
  8. There are so many options. I can no longer eat eggs and I really only choose fish when I go out to eat because my family doesn't like it. I eat a lot of chicken, turkey, beef and pork tenderloin. I don't eat Beans at all and I get my Protein every day.
  9. Yay! I hope you have a safe surgery and speedy recovery! Welcome to the losers bench!

    Passing out

I do have problems with this. In June I passed out after standing up too fast. It was 2 weeks after cervical fusion and because of that I ended up in the emergency room. I was referred to a cardiologist and an endocrinologist and had a full work up. For me, my blood pressure runs low as does my heart rate. If I stand up too fast the room turns black and I pass out. My heart is perfectly healthy, I just run with a low heart rate and pressure. This is common following massive weight loss. I had to learn to be careful when standing or sitting from a laying position. I hope you feel better soon.

    Frustrated with stall...

This is completely normal. Do a search on this site for stalls, there is a ton of info on it. Your body needs time to adjust and weights fluctuate. Your first week loss was very very significant. Congratulations!
  13. Hi there! I had bypass 16 months ago. I started at a size 26/28 top and a 24 in pants. I carried a lot of weight in my upper arms so I always am a size bigger on top. I had my surgery in sept 2014. By November I was in a size 18. By February I was in a size 14 on the bottom. Now I wear a size 8 jeans and a large and sometimes medium top. I am still losing although nearly at goal. Down 141lbs with about 3.5 lbs left to go.
  14. MRI of my thoracic spine today. I hate having them because I am claustrophobic but am looking forward to getting a treatment plan that works for my thoracic spine.

Well ts over! I always ask for the cloth and headphones. This machine was so loud I couldn't even hear the music. LOL.

@WLSResources/ClothingExch I hope all goes well for yours!

I now have to wait 2 days for results and then the 18th I will have a game plan.

You're a brave little soldier. Physical therapy all around, barkeep.

What cloth? I don't know about that. And I've been unable to hear the headphones for the banging of the MRI equipment. I try to tell myself nice stories and think of people and places that I love. Nothing works quite well enough, but we try.

And i never, EVER open my eyes under there...i just go to my "happy place" and think of our lake house and nice memories...while it's banging and clanging....

Glad it's over for you, DJ...

Milk: the Reason I Look Like a Heifer?

I just switched from skim milk to 2% so I could actually add some additional fat and calories. LOL!

Milk: the Reason I Look Like a Heifer?

@@careya123 My surgeon requires 2 doses of calcium a day to start on top of the 2 cups of milk however after my first set of labs we reduced my calcium dose to once per day. Now I am bypass and calcium is one of the nutrients that for sure is malabsorbed so that could be why. I noticed you are sleeved and likely the normal dose is fine.

Milk: the Reason I Look Like a Heifer?

See now my diet requires milk, twice per day. I don't always drink it but about every other day I drink 2 cups of milk, I make a pot of chai tea out of it. It delivers 17 grams of Protein and is more filling than any other snack. I actually feel like on the days I drink milk for my snack vs. eating some other type of snack I lose. When I snack I will typically have a Protein Bar, cheese, lunch meat and very occasionally a pudding or crackers. Milk does the body good!
  20. Yeah! Clothes shopping is the best! I love simply trying clothes on that I could never wear! It only gets better from here!, congratulations!

    Nausea and Fatigue

It is more likely that your weakness and nausea are dehydration. Are you getting all of the liquids you should be at this point? That first week can be really rough and getting dehydrated is a vicious circle. Also diarrhea is very common during the liquid phase s weaned ab make your dehydration worse.

    Fit to Fat to Fit.

I saw the previews and was angered. Really? You think you can feel what it feels like to live in the shoes of someone that has been obese their whole lives? Who the hell comes up with this s#*#!
  23. There are too many great ones but this is my favorite: Best - trying on clothes in regular stores just because I can. Many times being surprised and in shock at my new normal size. Honestly had a hard time thinking of the worst but I guess this would be it for me: people who say stupid things like WLS is cheating or the easy way out.
  24. @ Um, cutting the frizz would mean buzzing my hair. It is coming out of my head that way. LOL
