STILL STALLED. help :(
Djmohr replied to berkeleycurves's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Stalls are the worst aren't they! I have had one big stall that lasted almost a month. For me I learned that I was not eating enough and exercising too much. As soon as I made changes I saw the pounds star dropping off. Now, I think I may have another stall happening, I sure hope not. I have been stuck for just under a week now. I am trying to break the stall by trying a different form of exercise later in the day. I have learned from research that if your body gets use to the same routine it can stall as well. They are very frustrating. -
Glad to hear you are doing much better!

Post op diet - what was yours?
Djmohr replied to kevinsvsgjourney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is pretty normal. You have to remember your stomach inside has a lot of sutures. You can easily damage your new tummy by not following the food plan. It needs time to heal. I personally would refrain from trying anything besides clear liquids until you are allowed to. You should also be able to have chicken broth, watered down apple juice. These items will give you a bit more energy. For me it was homemade chicken broth that really helped me that first week. Good luck and take care of yourself. -
You do not need someone as abusive as that guy in your life. Run and never look back! I used to have someone in my life that was toxic to both me and our children. It took me 6 years but I finally figured out how to get away from him. I remarried almost 28 years ago and I thank god everyday for my supportive spouse. Even my kids have nothing to do with him, they call him the sperm donor!

I too was planning on the sleeve until I met with the bariatrician the first time. I suffered from uncontrollable reflux to the point I was coughing all day every day for over a year and a half. In addition I had type 2 diabetes. After doing more research and talking to my gastroenterologist I felt so much better about doing the RNY. I had it done in Sept., immediately my diabetes went into remission and I never get heartburn or reflux and I am off all medications related to reflux sine I hit the 30 days post op. I could not be happier with my decision. I am one of the folks who so far have not gotten sick however I now do not like sweets of any kind. I was a sugarholic before surgery. I hate anything that tastes sweet from sugar or even artificial sweeteners. Good luck on your decision.

honestly I refrained from cooking for that first month post op. Knowing I was going to be on liquids and mushy foods I did not want to be tempted. I made sure I had meals prepared and frozen before I actually started the pre op liquid diet. I knew it would be difficult once that started. Thank goodness my family was super supportive. In fact my husband would refrain from eating in front of me which I had to tell him many many times how ridiculous that was. He finally understood that it did not bother me at all. Post surgery I had no appetite for the first 8 weeks.

What do you look forward to when you lose all the weight?
Djmohr replied to Faithluvhope84's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So many good ones have already been said. For me, I plan to have plastics done. I cannot wait until I have lost enough weight and stabilize so that I can get that done. Then, I will look forward to shopping for clothes in normal stores including bathing suits. -
Had I had the chance to do it in 30 days I absolutely would have done it. I remember being so frustrated that it took so long to get through the process, for me it was 9 months long. I had done a ton of research before even meeting a surgeon the first time so I was ready. I would say there was a positive about taking so long, I was able to make changes to my lifestyle ahead of time and by the time I got to the morning of surgery I was so excited. For me there was no question about moving forward but I was miserable at 310lbs. I wish I would have done this years ago vs. waiting until my health declined. The good news is my health is so much better now. Good luck to you! Don't be afraid, just make sure you follow the plan.

2 bands, now a revision to RNY or VSG
Djmohr replied to losing_the_band's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
The big thing for you to talk to your doctor about is the reflux issue. The sleeve can make that situation worse. Bypass resolves it. Also both surgeries require Vitamin supplements. I personally planned to get the sleeve initially until the reflux issue came up and that is why I chose RNY. I have not regretted it for one second. Good luck on your decision and your revision if u choose to continue down that road. -
@@Tweety208 so sorry to hear about your struggles. I hope you get well soon. Do you mind if I ask what caused your complications?

Veterans-I have a question for your wonderful peeps!
Djmohr replied to KatieD6982's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I was planning to have the sleeve and then was told the better surgery for me was absolutely the bypass. For me, it was because I suffered from uncontrollable reflux/Gerd. The sleeve can make that condition much worse. Once I understood the whys behind it I made the decision to go with RNY. I am sooooo glad I did. I never get heartburn or reflux and am off all medications. -
Poll: insurance acceptance/denial
Djmohr replied to bangbangbarbie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was 310lbs, a type 2 diabetic, sleep apnea, high blood pressure I had to follow a six month physician monitored program. I had to work with a Bariatric Center of Exellence. My paperwork was submitted and within 48 hours I had both verbal and written approval. My insurance was Medica. -
Does anyone end up in a bikini? Please be honest!
Djmohr replied to bangbangbarbie's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
@@MiaStacey, that is a fantastic idea. I am headed to Hawaii on a cruise 2 weeks from today. I have to go shopping anyway, so I think I will do just that! I actually think I can fit in their sizes now so we will see what happens. -
Three week stall one week after surgery?
Djmohr replied to Ivanova8's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Ivanova8, I would not worry about it. Every surgeon seems to have a differnt plan. As long as you follow it, you should have no problem. I was just surprised because it was a while before I could fit that much in my tummy. now of course I can easily get in 1/2 cup but not much more. It also depends on what I am eating. -

Three week stall one week after surgery?
Djmohr replied to Ivanova8's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am surprised that you can get 1/2 cup in. I am guessing that your body is simply waiting to see what is going to happen before it continues to release body fat. I would not worry as long as you are following the plan. Make sure you get your water, I have found it is critical to weight loss. -
I am 3.5 months post op now. I regularly am able to get 80 to 85 grams of protein in. In between meals if I get hungry I have been told to drink a cup of fat free milk. It adds to the protein, fills you up and does not add extra fat to your diet. Believe it or not that milk will carry me to the next meal. I too struggled with the amount of meat I can eat. I am lucky to get 2 to 3 oz. in.

Not sure what the Optifast diet is. I was on a liquid diet for 10 days and it was tough but doable. For me it was literally taking it one day at a time and not thinking about how much further I had to go. You can do this! Good luck to you!

sleeve to gastric conversion
Djmohr replied to mscaryn's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was around 1/4 cup around that time and that is what I was told to focus on. I could not go beyond that without feeling very very full.I have been told not to pay attention to calories as long as you are following a high protein, low carb, low fat diet. It's what you put into your new pouch that is important. -
Help! Hamada Japanese restaraunt
Djmohr replied to newlanashegog's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I actually went to Benihana with my family when I was about 6 weeks out myself. I went for chicken because I know my pouch tolerates it very well. Of course they always give you those couple of shrimp as an appetizer as well so I tried a piece knowing by the time my chicken and vegetables came I would be full. My husband ordered the hibachi fried rice and I did taste a forkful of that as well. The issue with rice is that it fills your pouch fast and does not last long which could make you hungry again in short order. It is best to stick with the Protein and vegetables to ensure you get your protein in, but it won't hurt to try a very small bite of rice. I personally would not touch the tempura out in a restaurant until you have some idea of how your stomach reacts. It would be bad to ruin your night by getting sick. By the way, I had so much food leftover that I took it home and vacumn sealed it into small portions. Then when I wanted a nice lunch or dinner I pop them into boiling Water for a few minutes to warm it up. It stays moist and tasty! Good luck and have a great time out! -
Last night I had 2 1/2. I love shrimp however it is harder for me to chew chew chew shrimp. It's almost too much work.

I think most of the time they are scared for you, at least let's hope so! it is very frustrating when people who don't know your medical history or have not done any research to understand why you have made this decision, spout off about what you should or shouldn't do. What they don't understand is that you have done your research and they also don't understand why their are different choices for different conditions. I think most of all in this case this person could have called you to have a conversation vs. sending you an email like this one. How rude! Just hang in there and stick to your guns. You will show them that you are in charge of you and can make this happen. I wish you all the best on your upcoming surgery and will be sending prayers your way!

Post-op tomorrow yeah!
Djmohr replied to Jkpizano5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Jkpizano5, congratulations! I wish you a speedy recovery. The best advice anyone can give you is to walk, sip and walk again! No matter how uncomfortable you might be, get up and walk walk walk. It will ensure the gas they use leaves your body faster and with it most of the pain will be gone. Sipping fluids helps keep you hydrated which is very important during this phase. Hydration is critical to a speedy recovery. Good luck today! Sending prayers and warm thoughts your way! -
I actually had heard so many great things about the show Sons of Anarchy so I started watching it from the first season. It is a great show! A bit violent but great characters and lots of action. Right now that would be my favorite show. I also love the Walking Dead And I too cannot wait for Saul! I miss breaking bad and am hoping they do as good a job on Saul.
