Good for you Phyl! I have to pay dietitian one price and see her every month after surgery for a while. The hospital I'm going to in hands on and check you for a long time after to make sure you are doing ok. With all my medical problems, it is a nice feeling that they would do that. I'll let you kids know whats going on with my progress!

Thanks Sue. I guess I'll probably get banded in September then. I started my journey Oct 6. Thats a long time to wait but I have learned Patience over the years.

I'm going on Medicare Aug. 1 and am wondering if the Dr. has to submit a pre authorization to get approved. My insurance now is stalling and will not commit. They said I meet all the qualifications but will not say if they will pay. I had to change Dr. and Hospital to go to one with the seal of excellence. All I have left to do is the surgeons visit, The new hospital took all my tests and information from old hospital so I don't have to go through that again. Any information on Medicare would be appreciated.

I haven't been here for a while. I was trying to get banded at Trinity, (started in October) but they held me up and claimed it was the insurance. I know I have full coverage and approval cause I called the insurance co myself. Now I am going to Genesis and they are so nice and helpful over there. They accepted my records from the other hospital and am is the process of seeing the dietitian now. I go on Medicare on August 1 and hope to have it done before that, but will use Medicare if I have to. I've been exercising and working on my blood sugars (I'm diabetic) and sure hope this gets me off insulin after the band. Wish me good luck! Opus (Judy)

Great news!!! I got my acceptance letter from my insurance company today. Nancy said when the Dr. office gets theirs they will be calling me for an appointment! Finally the end is in site! I am more than ready. Judy

Chloe, Well I found out why my "insurance approval" was taking so long! My husband passed away in Jan. and when the Dr., Phyc, and Nancy found out they decided to put me off by telling me it was the insurance's fault. I've gone through greif councling at church, and Phycoligoust, and I know I am ready now. I saw my phyc last week and he spilled the beans about them putting me off till they thought I was ready.. I think I will hear good news next week. Opus (Judy)

Chloe, have you been through the phyc evaluation yet? I had to take a 3 hour computer quiz to find out that I am normal! They could of just asked me! First had to talk to Dr. then take quiz, then talk to the Dr. again, just so he could tell me i'm normal and would be a complient canidate for the lapband. Have herd from the insurance girl at Dr. Hass's office and she said she would know for sure in a couple days. To Dr. offices' I think that is code for maybe a week or so. Opus

Joann and Skittles108, Thank you for your prayers. Still having trouble with insurance but my Dr's insurance girl in looking into it again. I took a 13 week greif course with my church and just finished it last thursday. My husbands best friend passed away 3 months before him so his wife and I went together. I would recomend grief classes for anyone who has lost someone close. Husband wanted me to have the lapband for my health, he never cared what I weighed, loved me any way I was. I want it for my health, too. I'm diabetic and want to cut down or get off insulin. Thank you again, Opus----Judy

I too am gonna be banded by Dr. Hass. I have the insurance approval but the dr's office didn't get the ok yet. I'm waiting for a call from the office today. I had to call the insurance co. myself (United Healthcare) cause I've been waiting since Feb for approval. I too have a dog named Chloe (maltese) but go by Opus after the penquin. I live in Silvis and am really ready for my lapband!Opus (Judy)

Hi group, I haven't posted for a long time. I am still waiting for my LB but have have several set backs. I visited my surgeon Jan 21 and she said as soon as the insurance approval we'll get satarted with pre op. Well on the 23 my husband of 46 years passed away in his sleep. After 4 weeks the insurance reported that I did not have insurance, so I called right away and found out they changed my subscriber number without me knowing so I called my Dr office and gave them the new number to re apply. About 7 or 8 weeks later the heard that I met all the requiments for the surgery but they couldn't find my hospital and surgeon in my program! My husband had 5 surgerys in that hospital, and the surgeon had done many operations on their plan. I called yesterday to the insurance myself and found out that I am approved and called the Dr office again and am playing phone tag with the insurance girl. Maybe Monday she will return my call or I will call her again. I've gone through my grief consling and feel i am more than ready to have this done. Have good thoughts and prayers for me. Blessings Opus (Judy)

Wanted to update my progress. Saw my surgeon last Monday and she said just as soon as she gets the ok form the insurance company ( 2 to 6 weeks) she will schedule my tests and date :wink2: Sure am hoping it only 2 weeks but that stupid insurance likes to mess things up! I'll keep you updated. Opus ---Judy

Hi Group, Well tomorrow I visit the surgeon and hope to set the date. I am getting very excited and can't wait to be banded. I've been a very good girl since the 1st of Jan. with my eating and have been taking smaller bites and chewing everything really well. I just realized when I started that , that I never use to taste my food, just scarfed it down. Wat a difference it makes. I keep my laptop, not on the internet, on my kitchen table with the Perfect Diet Tracker on it, and enter EVERYTHING I put in my mouth. I found it on the web and downloaded it. Hope to have my good new tomorrow.

Its so good to find a place for the "mature" banders. I see my surgeon on the 21 of this month and hope to set up my surgery date. I've been through all the hoops so far but have the diatition to see yet. I have a lot of health problems----diabetes, heart, CHF, and hight blood pressure. My family Dr thinks this "tool" will be great for me and that I can get off of insulin. I sure hope so too. Glad to have found you!
