If you have a Dress Barn in your area it's worth a look. They have regular sized on one side and plus sizes on the other. They carry a very nice label made by Jones of New York called Jones and Co. Their professional clothes are nice. They have great accessories and the prices are reasonable. I agree with Kohl's too. When they have a sale, it's a real sale, and if you use your Kohl's card and watch for their coupons you can save a ton..... I bought my husband a Ralph Lauren sports coat for his birthday that was regularly priced at $225 and ended up paying around $65 for it with the sale price, my coupon and the additional % off for using my Kohl's card..

Hey gang, What's going on with all of you? I'm still plugging along, and feeling pretty good. I rejoined the gym on Friday and I'm looking forward to getting in there to do some working out. I'm going to work with a trainer for the first week, to put together a program that is best for me. Hopefully it'll speed up my weight loss. I do have a question...... This last several days I've had an issue with my lips, tongue and inside my mouth being very sensitive, itchy and tingling. Has anyone ever had this happen to them? I took some benadryl before I went to bed last night and it seemed to help, but as today has gone on it's getting annoying again. I haven't changed anything as far as food or meds so I'm not sure what it could be from. The only thing I can think of is that it seems worse after I finish drinking my flavored waters. I'm wondering if I'm having an allergic reaction to the artificial sweetener? I've been using stevia if I add a sweetener to anything, but I'm not sure what kind of artificial sweetener is in the Crystal Light or Mio squirt in drops. What do you'all think? It's driving me crazy and I don't know how concerned I should be about it. I think I may give my doctor's office a all tomorrow. So who's going to play in the Super Bowl????? Any football fans out there? I would like to see the Packers and the Patriots play the big game. Beyond that I'd like to see the Patriots win , but I'm afraid the Packers will stomp them..... -
BariatricPal Launching Online Store to sell Discounted Bariatric Nutritional Products ? (Vitamins, Protein etc.)

For sure. I'd like to see Quest Bars, Unjury Protein, Isopure Protein Waters (really hard to find locally), and anything else that other's have tried and like. -
You go girl!!!! I had my surgery on 11/11/14 and I'm doing fine too. I really feel good, and my clothes are starting to look pretty sloppy too. You've done terrific with your weight loss. I've lost about 47 lbs. so far. I wish it would come off faster, but until I get my butt into the gym it probably won't. I like the dancing idea. I love to dance and it would be a good way to get moving when I don't get to the gym to workout. Keep up the good work!!! You should be very proud of yourself. I know I'm feeling better about myself than I did before I started this. I've got a long way to go, and it'll be a while before I can be more comfortable with my appearance, but I'm working on it. We're all in this together in this group and that's a great thing. There's some wonderful people here.

Anyone in Charlotte, NC interested in forming a local support group?
Dabliss111114 replied to Dabliss111114's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
For sure....I need all the help I can get..... Ate out last night and came home and got sick. Didn't eat much at all, but the sauce on the chicken was very rich. I guess my body couldn't handle the fat content. It sure tasted good on the way down though. Coming back up......YUCK!! -
Anyone in Charlotte, NC interested in forming a local support group?
Dabliss111114 replied to Dabliss111114's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Gosh, I feel like the veteran here since I'm 8 weeks out. Hopefully more people will see the post and join us. I'm happy to help you guys through the pre op as best I can. I just think it'll be good to have a group of people in the area that are all on the same page that want and need the support. It can be a great venue for sharing, venting, and just plain getting to know each other. It's always fun to make new friends. Where in Charlotte are you located? Jaysen, I know where you are . What about the others? Great. Looking forward to meeting you. Keep checking the post and we'll settle on a time and place soon. -
H-pylori-who has had it?
Dabliss111114 replied to innwtitdtity's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had it before my surgery too. I have no clue how or when I got it, but I had to do the antibiotics for 2 weeks. My meds were a combination of 4 different things. My surgery was delayed too. They tested me a second time after the treatment to make sure it was gone before they moved forward with my surgery. Fortunately it was gone after the antibiotics. Good luck. -
When can I start eating spicy food?
Dabliss111114 replied to krisstep's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been spicing it up since week 3. The spices help the blander foods seem more satisfying. I had my favorite Chinese place Hot and Sour Soup last night, complete with the tofu, shredded pork and veggies. Wonderful. The only thing that worries me is that I was able to eat about 3/4 c. of it. No discomfort. I worry that sometimes my new tummy can handle too much, and that I'll end up eating more than I should and not lose the way I should. Right now I seem to be losing slowly. -
Grapes and salad
Dabliss111114 replied to gennylynn1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 8 weeks out, and started eating most things at 6 weeks. My NUT said to add things slowly, see how I did and go from there. I tried to eat beef 3 different times over almost 2 weeks before I could handle it. I had about 4-5 small pieces of lettuce at 6 weeks with a drizzle of fat free dressing and did fine. I actually ate a few grapes last week with no trouble, but really chewed them well. I still peel apple though. I was told no tough fruit or veggie skin for 8 weeks. -
Feeling a little down.!
Dabliss111114 replied to molina10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ditto..... Too cold to walk outside. Starting the gym next week. I do track my food and liquids, take all the Vitamins and still feel like I'm loosing too slow. Maybe I'm expecting too much, but I've only lost 42 lbs since I started my 2 week liquid diet, and had surgery on Nov. 11. I keep thinking that by 8 weeks out I should have lost more. Sometimes I think I eat too much. I don't seem to get as full as quickly, and don't have a problem eating about 2/3 cup of food at a meal. I eat only lean Protein and healthy veggies/fruits, and I know my calories are no more than about 600 a day, but I worry that my pouch is stretching.... How much is everyone else eating??? -
I need help - very slow loss - what to eat? Thyroid?
Dabliss111114 replied to Stinab64's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so glad to hear that I'm not the only one in this boat. I had my surgery Nov. 11th and I've lost just about 42 lbs. Only 27 since my surgery. I get my 60 gms. and sometimes more of protein every day, and am getting in my fluids most days. Sometimes I find that if I'm busy doing things I just don't even think about eating or drinking. The holiday weren't a problem for me and I ate what I could and passed on the rest. No carbs, so sugar except for a tiny piece of chocolate on Christmas Day and a tiny bite of a cookie a few days later. I did get out of my walking routine with the weather turning so cold here and having to go out of town for my father in laws funeral, but I know I have to get on the exercise band wagon....... I'm going to start the gym next week, and may even pay for a trainer for a month or so to get me really going. I think I should be loosing faster too, and I still don't feel like it really shows much. People tell me they can tell in my face.....big deal..... My clothes do fit better, but nothing dramatic. I'm frustrated too. -
Question regarding smoking (quitting cigarettes)
Dabliss111114 replied to ohclementine's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
My surgeon said he wouldn't touch me unless I quit at least 3 months before surgery. He actually adds something to the blood workup right before surgery that can measure nicotine in the blood,if he thinks a patient is noncompliant. As for picking it up again. I was told in no uncertain terms that if I started to smoke again after RNY that it can result in serious ulcers and internal bleeding. Not good..... I wanted to quit for years, and never did it. Now I know I'll never go back. -
I've heard that adding too many carbs too soon can cause you to hold Fluid in your intestines because they tend to swell up and not move through too well. Maybe you're bloated and constipated. Quite a few of us have had trouble with that. Maybe try a mild laxative and see if that helps. I'd call the doc if things didn't improve after a day or so. Keep us posted.

Bite size question ...............
Dabliss111114 replied to Laurac727's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 7 weeks post op and I still have to think about how small my bites are and how slow I eat. When I'm at home I use a baby spoon and fork ( it was actually one of my sons when he was a baby). When I'm out I try to only pu food on the tip of the fork or spoon. I think it'll be something well have to think about for a long time. Hang in there, you'll do great. -

Before everything gets hectic here at my house with prepping for the family to land on top of us this evening I thought I'd take a minute to wish everyone the very happiest of holidays. No matter how everyone celebrates, I hope your time is filled with joy and the love of those around you. This holiday we've given ourselves a great gift, one that will last us the rest of our lifetime if we take care of it. Enjoy every minute and savor every hug. Life can be way too short, often we find ourselves missing someone we loved very much, and sometimes we get caught up in the material things that make the holiday. Keep it simple, keep it true, and celebrate with your heart. Love to all my new friends. Deb -

@@jessica2014 I'm so sad to hear that you had to go to the hospital. Try not to get too down about tomorrow being Christmas. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers. @@ready2B I was in a terrible stall until this past several days. I had been doing really well, just like you, then all of a sudden nothing....... Constipation Club
Dabliss111114 replied to wildGoose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a terrible time post op with constipation. After my surgery I hadn't gone yet when I saw my doc to get my staples out. He told me to stop on the way home and get Milk of Magnesia, and to take a dose and a half to get things moving. After that he told me to take 1/2 dose every other day until my body got into a routine. He then said to take a natural softener like senna every day to keep things regular. So far I'm ok now. Once you're eating more real food I think it makes a difference too. I'm almost 6 wks. out and am eating many more things now. -

I think most of us that have eating issues have tended to do our worst eating and snacking at night. It's too easy to park the butt on the couch, turn on the TV and sit there and munch. If you're like me, it didn't matter what or how much you ate, you still weren't satisfied, so you just ate something else. I would end up feeling sick, but it didn't stop me. i've been fixing myself a cup of hot herb tea at night when I feel like I need something. I sweeten it with a little stevia and so far it seems to help. -

So sorry to hear that you're still having a hard time with not feeling well. It does get easier, so give up hope. Have you spoken to your docs office about how you're feeling? If you're not doing a lot better within the next few days, I'd put in a call to them before the Christmas Holiday weekend. There probably isn't anything wrong, but it would be hard to reach someone if you really started feeling badly next week. If you let them know what's going on they may have some advice and it'll give you piece of mind. Hang in there and take care. -

Charlotte NC here Doc info please
Dabliss111114 replied to Salonboi's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really don't know if he has on online seminar. I do know that Bauman only does his surgery at CMC Northeast in Concord. I'm glad i went there. That hospital is amazing. Beats CMC in Charlotte hands down. My guy probably is booked way out too. I've heard that your guy and mine are the two best in the practice. Bauman does the procedure a little differently, and is the only one that does it his way. My understanding is that he has a patent on his technique and the other docs aren't able to use it yet. Private message me if you want more details. -

Hi gang, I just read this article and thought I'd share it with ya'll. Let's all start doing deep breathing exercises!!!! Exhaled Pounds: How Fat Leaves the Body By Bahar Gholipour3 hours ago When you lose weight, where does it go? Turns out, most of it is exhaled. In a new study, scientists explain the fate of fat in a human body, and through precise calculations, debunk some common misconceptions. Fat doesn't simply "turn into" energy or heat, and it doesn't break into smaller parts and get excreted, the researchers say. In reality, the body stores the excess Protein or carbs in a person's diet in form of fat, specifically, as triglyceride molecules, which consist of just three kinds of atoms: carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. For people to lose weight, their triglycerides must break up into building blocks, which happens in a process known as oxidation. When a triglyceride is oxidized (or "burned up"), the process consumes many molecules of oxygen while producing carbon dioxide (CO2) and Water (H2O) as waste products. [8 Strange Things Scientists Taste and Eat] So, for example, to burn 10 kilograms (22 lbs.) of fat, a person needs to inhale 29 kg (64 lbs.) of oxygen. And the chemical process of burning that fat will produce 28 kg (62 lbs.) of carbon dioxide and 11 kg (24 lbs.) of water, the researchers calculated. "None of this biochemistry is new, but for unknown reasons it seems nobody has thought of performing these calculations before," study authors Ruben Meerman and Andrew Brown of the University of New South Wales in Australia, said. "The quantities make perfect sense but we were surprised by the numbers that popped out." The researchers showed that during weight loss, 84 percent of the fat that is lost turns into carbon dioxide and leaves the body through the lungs, whereas the remaining 16 percent becomes water, according to the study published today (Dec. 16) in a special Christmas issue ofthe medical journal BMJ. "These results show that the lungs are the primary excretory organ for weight loss. The water formed may be excreted in the urine, feces, sweat, breath, tears or other bodily fluids, and is readily replenished," the researchers said. The calculations also show the frightening power of, for example, a small muffin over an hour of exercise: At rest, a person who weighs 154 pounds (70 kg) exhales just 8.9 mg of carbon with each breath. Even after an entire day, if this person only sits, sleeps, and does light activities, he or she exhales about 200 grams of carbon, the researchers calculated. A 100 g muffin can cover 20 percent of what was lost. On the other hand, replacing one hour of rest with exercise such as jogging, removes an additional 40 g of carbon from the body, the researchers said. Even if one traces the fates of all the atoms in the body, the secret to weight loss remains the same: In order to lose weight, one needs to either eat less carbon or exercise more to remove extra carbon from the body.
