  1. @@HappygoSusan you had the tape on for 2 weeks? was it covering your stitches/staples? Were you able to shower? they took my tape off when I left the hospital. My staples are exposed and so is that hole where that alien drain thingy came out of my body. Thanks guys for the suggestions!
  2. I was sleeved on October 30th and somehow figured that I would get to go home that day or the very next day. I was WRONG! they kept me 3 days and almost kept me a 4th! I wasn't in pain (at least not from the surgery). In fact, from what I can tell the surgery went very well. Apparently, when I was in recovery I was sooo tired that I would only wake up to say that my back and my chest were in pain. Well I am rather large chested and I guess laying on a hard flat surface with no bra was not good for the muscles in my back or chest. I don't know if they kept giving me pain medicine - I can only assume so. I kept tossing and turning on the gurney/bed trying to get to a more comfortable position. Obviously, the incisions in my abdomen were of no concern. When I finally found a good position, I was sure to let the nurse know (It was on my left side). My surgery was around 10am and I didn't get to my room until around 6pm. I was very lucky, I ended up in a room all to myself (not sure if this had anything to do with me yelling about my chest and back in recovery). My nurses were all very good to me. They made sure I had everything. Helped me walk, counted my fluids, helped me to the restroom and took my blood several times. I heard my blood count was low and they needed it to be stable before I went home. I threw up 3 times which was more like large spit ups rather than a normal throw up. They kept asking me if I was nauseous. I wasn't. They didn't want me to go home until I wasn't nauseous. Turns out the anti-nausea medication was making me throw up! Good thing we figured that out because I would have been there another day. I was able to leave the evening of the 1st! I know it sounds like a lot but the pain was almost nothing. The surgery was really much easier than I expected and I haven't really been in any pain. My biggest surprise was how exhausted I have been since surgery. That and the removal of the leak tube felt like an alien leaving my body the weirdest experience ever!
  3. No pain except when I bend or toss and turn but nothing like I expected. I'm struggling getting the liquids and protien in. Good luck!
  4. I heard somewhere to take 10000 mcg of biotin. Are you at least getting 5,000? Seems like you are doing everything. Wigs sound like fun!
  5. I heard that you should take about 10,000 of Biotin per day for the hair loss and that it should stop after about a year post op. If it doesn't then to check Iron levels.

    Shapewear?

I wonder if anyone has tried one of those waist training bodyshapers. I had purchased a genie bra body shaping tank post op and have been wearing it since I got home to keep me from messing with the staples (5 days post op). It's not a great fit but it keeps thing from rubbing against the staples.

    Full liquid stage

Thank you for the strainer idea. I think I've been hurting myself by not making sure my soups can go through a strainer!

@@par1959 There are some low fat foods that are processed. Low fat does not equal healthy or better, so her question was valid.

    Day 4 postop

I was sleeved on the 30th - no poop at all. I can only assume my body has nothing to poop. I had clear liquids for 2 days pre-op. and haven't had any food. I did have 1/2 cup of Soup today. We shall see.

    How long off work?

My doctor said 6 weeks. I have a desk job and took off 4. I am 4 days from surgery and don't see how I am going to make the full 4 weeks. I'm not in much pain.

    "My monthly visitor"

I think my surgery caused mine to start early. mine started the night I was released. 1 week sooner than expected. But might explain why my blood count was low while I was in the hospital.
  14. @@mnmlst How are you doing? I don't have any pain but I did have a longer hospital stay than expected!
  15. I'm suddenly feeling nervous. I don't know if I am ready. I don't know what to pack for the hospital stay. I feel like my house is a mess. I don't know what I'm going to eat when I get home.

    Clear Liquid Pre op Diet

thanks guys! This is day 2 and I didn't struggle with the eating but I think I figured out why. I am so nervous! I don't want to eat because I'm nervous about tomorrow! At least I know why. I couldn't figure out why it was so easy whith the liquid diet when a normal day I can't say no to food! LOL
  17. My Doctor told me that I have to do a pre op diet for 2 days before my surgery. Not bad except that it has to be Clear liquids, Jello, and no Protein. I really don't know how I am going to stick to just Water and broth. Surgery is in 8 days.

@@Sunnyskies2283 that's what I am hoping to have happen to me. I didn't notice how tired I've become since putting on all of this weight. i can't wait for it to be gone!
  20. Has anyone noticed an increase in energy? My surgery is a couple of days away and I;'m hoping to have more energy to get things done. It feels like I'm always tired.

    October 30!

today was my first day of liquids. It wasn't as bad as I thought. I'm very nervous about sticking to it. I'm totally not packed for the hospital. I don't know what time I'm supposed to report there on the 30th. I need to organize my house before I go in! uggh! time is flying by. I'm nervous and excited at the same time.
