Agreed eggs are great for protein, but if your only a week out. It's still very early to introduce that. From what I've heard it's typically 2 (on a shorter side) to 3 weeks before you introduce anything like that. Especially eggs they say bc se people cannot even handle them early on and end up throwing them up, which would not feel good after surgery. -

I know the feeling. But how will you be able to teach yourself restraint if you 'cheated' for a bite if eggs. If your feeling hungry you must boost your protein in take and water. Our programs are designed to be step by step of what our body needs, healing process and gradually introduce food. We major surgery. It's typical to be on protein shakes and sugar free jellos, puddings water and broth for like 3 weeks. You made it as far to have the surgery, you can go two more weeks to make sure you don't overdue your pouch and allow for 100% success with the wls. Brush it off, nothing you can do, you tried a little move forward. You can do it. Good luck. -
Exciting. Great job.

Did you let your young children visit you in the hospital?
KalelsWifey replied to NCTRNL's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was in for only a night and tbh I was so groggy and drained the I slept thru 95% of my husbands 4 hour visit that I woke, said please go home, I'm actually feeling guilty that I'm sleeping while your just sitting here... He said it didn't bother him just to make sure I was fine. I was thankful my MIL was with my girls. They did come to pick me up the next day though with balloons, flowers and cards they made which was awesome. I would play it by ear on how your feeling. Good luck! -
30 or 60 minutes after a meal?
KalelsWifey replied to goodnuff's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
30/30 for my WLP too, but I take barely enough to moisten my mouth while eating. Two to three times bc if not everything feels harder to go down and I find I don't want to eat then. I have been fine and certainly don't over eat bc of it. -
This actually happened tonight!
KalelsWifey replied to SkinnyDown's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Every hospital and policy is absolutely different. I had one nights stay in the hospital and within the one night, they too came to my room stating a patient had recently been released from the recovery room, and needed my room as it was a more 'closely monitored room'. However the patient refused to take my room I was in as they said she has already been in there I'm sure you can walk down two extra rooms to make sure I am all right. Leave her be, she too is recovering. I had a lot of respect for that person. But it prompted me to ask why I was in it as I had no issues after surgery. Apparently it was the quickest room that was available. Once I got the anesthesia to wear off I was walking the halls literally every hour till 11p that night, turned on the TV to fall asleep and the woke every two hours to walk thru the night. Monitor in hand and all. The nurses were not one bit upset, in fact they told every nurse or doctor on shift 'she's going to set the new record for most walked after surgery'. Kind of a thing our hospital does to keep us going lol. My staff were terrific and I would recommend them to anyone. Since the nurses knew I was awake they'd come in to chat, give advice or ask to give me something to help me sleep and try to rest. I have the rest of my life to rest. I've not felt this much energy even tho it is after surgery I want to feel what I've been missing for so long and perhaps it's the excitement of just knowing the new me is born today (4/22)! I'm sorry you had an awful stay at the hospital and I too can relate to the infection after surgery as I had a horrible one with my first c section. It's not easy. Hang in there Hun. This too shall pass and before you know it this will all just be a distant memory. -
Where on earth do you find such a thing?! My favorite banana nut!! Plus with protein... After GB I tend to get a little extra excited when I find something that has added protein!! Lol.
-
Hooraaaaaay!! We are on the same track. I too broke my stall today. Down 2.8 lbs this morning. Congrats.
-
I have been struggling (as many of us do early on) getting in adequate Protein for the day... Getting slightly discouraged I've been talking with my sister who had GB over 5 yrs ago. Explained my frustrations and she reminded me of a a Protein shake that helped her reach goals. I tried it today and I couldn't get enough, far from just a month ago when smelling the Protein powder make me wanna be sick!! 8oz of almond milk, (or any) 1 scoop protein powder 2 Tbs of PB2 Cup of ice BLEND * Occasionally a squirter of SF Hershey's chocolate syrup * It's so good.

PB2 + Protein Shake = DELISH!

Pb2 is a powdered Peanut butter that blends really well when making a protein shake or a smoothie. -

Haha I hate the fact that I've allowed my bra to become a 5th pocket. I'm getting out of the habit as my 2 yr old now puts her 'play' cell phone in her shirt when she's done 'talking' to Grammy. Lol. -
Itching = Healing!!! It is such an annoyance, but I just reminded myself I must be healing really well then. All around the sites I used a non scented very easy on the skin butter (lotion) which helped bring the Itching down a notch.

What We Don't Want To Hear
KalelsWifey replied to ProjectMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Very VERY well said and I agree with you whole heartedly! You have a very good idea of how to incorporate healthier habits into your family diet but also room for a little play. This is exactly what I have thought of since I decided and committed to having Gastric Bypass. I never for one minute went thru any delusions that I'll never have a bite of this or that. My surgeon even told me I WANT you to enjoy the things you've always enjoyed but once I've given you the tool to help do it in a portioned and moderate way. I was thankful I found my surgeon bc instead of giving me fear of all the things I couldn't have he helped me to see how I could still incorporate it into my life without gaining all the weight back. You @@LipstickLady have some great posts and IF your on a computer before I am as I can't from my phone please friend me. I appreciate your posts and think you have a great out look on... Just about everything Thank you. -
How hard is it to get insurance to aprove the surgery
KalelsWifey replied to Monica Castro's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree, I believe it is all in how thorough your office sends off your paperwork to the insurance company. I worked my program, completed it in 6 months, paperwork sent off as I left the consult with my surgeon and an hour and a half later I received a call that I was approved. A month later I had my surgery. I have GIC - Unicare of Massachusetts. -
A week after gastric bypass has anyone done a drop of fat free cream in their coffee. If so, any issues. It's my only thing I want so badly right now is a half cup of coffee with a tiny drop of cream.

Thank you my friend! I'll continue to eat well and walk daily. Definitely need to stay out of the kitchen. Let's check in with each other and give each other help while we reach our goals! -
Between y'day & today, I've been dealing with some nausea... Today is a little worse than y'day. I know I can eat some more. Barely had a half of a chicken breast for dinner and I feel so nauseas. All I want is to just drink. Water. Nothing else. However I still need to get my proteins I'm for the rest of the day. Aside from that concern, in general I DON'T want to eat... At all... I'm tired of just proteins and in fact I believe that is actually why I'm getting nauseated when due to eat or am eating. I cannot just do proteins drinks bc I don't want to develop a textural issue with food and need my body to 'want' to eat and chew... Anyone else have this issue? What do you eat for your soft moist proteins to get thru this time? Fyi: I dislike immensely, Greek Yogurt and ricotta...

Luv2plumb Holy WOW!! That is fantastic! You've done tremendous. Seems like you've kicked a$$ this far, I hope you make your goal that would be exciting. Thank you! But I am far from my goal. I started at 228lbs 4/22-DOS, I was in high 240's after pregnancy. I'm now at one month post op and stalled at 195. Surgeon would like to see me between 140-150. My personal goal is 125-135. I haven't been that little in all my adult life. Even if it's just to say I weighed that and gain a couple lbs. Hubby agrees no less than 140. But being 5'3 I wanna see how I look once I reach wherever I feel comfortable. Being Puerto Rican, a girl needs her curves -
PB2 + Protein Shake = DELISH!
KalelsWifey replied to KalelsWifey's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I use Sure Protein (Walmart) sells it, it's so masked by the PB2 that I don't realize I'm drinking a shake. @@beachgal2935 I have not tried that. I have heard they can be expensive. Is that true? I'm trying to rely on food for protein but I don't think that'll be possible until I've reached 3-4 months and my pouch has properly healed and not so swollen. I will look into these. Thank you. -
