25 more days before surgery-and pigging out
amerdoodles posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Only 25 more days before my banding. Im excited and a tad nervous. My friends who've been banded keep telling me not go go on one last horra before surgery but it's kinda hard. I went to the store last night and bought M&M's, 3 Musketeers, Reese's cups, and Chex mix. GROSS!!! What am I doing?!?! This week I've eaten fast food a couple times and ordered subs for lunch. Is it just me or does it seem like everyone goes through this before surgery? I don't want to gain a ton of weight before surgery but I cant help but think I wont be eating this after surgery. HELP!!!! Can someone give me some advise to help me out of this frame of mind? :hungry::angry -
25 more days before surgery-and pigging out

Thanks for the replies. A friend of mine was banded 9/27 and she went on a pig out binge too. Her doctor almost didn't let her have the surgery because of the weight she had gained. When she told me this it kinda scared me. I was sitting here thinking, if I've made it this far with out shoveling this crap into my mouth, I can go another few weeks. I ate a few pieces of candy and frankly, I get sick to my stomach when I eat all of it. I don't really even know why I buy this junk. Right now I am looking at all this crap and I don't even want it. You think I'd be able to go over to my roommate and say, "here take this...I dont want it". But no...what I did, stuck it in my closet for later. I don't know if I want it or if it's just an old bad habbit that I am trying to hang on to. For now...it will stay where it is. If I don't eat it (hopefully that will be the case) then more power to me. If I break down and stuff my face then I'll be walking that off before surgery. Good luck to all you over eaters pre-banding out there. I know I'll need it for now. -
How long before you return to work?
amerdoodles replied to morningoasis811's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I've had two of my employees had banding recently. One had her surgery on a Tuesday and returned to work the following Monday. She had a hard time because of all the running around her job entales. The other was out for two weeks and she said she wanted to come back after the first week but decided to just use her time to make sure she was up to par when she got back to work. I myself am taking 2 1/2 weeks too. I will be banded 12/5 and don't go back to work 12/24. Hope that helps. -
Hi Everyone! Im pre-op and set for surgery Dec 5th. Im excited but nervous at the same time. Dr. Hess (in Boston) is doing my surgery. Im more worried about excess skin and not being able to loose the wt after surgery. Right now Im around 265 (on a good day) and hoping to get down to about 150. It took me over two years to decide what to do. I have tried so many different diets and nothing worked. I once lost 30lbs on my own and gained it all back and then some. Weight Watchers worked for a while until I just stopped loosing weight. I got annoyed at all the work I was putting into it with no results. My entire life I have always been overweight and I just hate it. I want to be able to walk with out getting out of breath, shop somewhere other than Lane Bryant, not have to adjust my shirt everytime I sit or stand, and not have knee pain. Im just sick of being fat!! Im still having some trouble loosing the pre-op wt requirement. I have to loose about 10 more pounds before surgery and they are just not coming off easy. Any suggestions? Thanks for listening!

He does not have a specific diet to follow. I have a post-op diet. My doc just said that he wants to see if we can loose it on our own before surgery.

I have not had my surgery yet but yes this is normal. You'll get your energy back in a few more days or so. Your body is just adjusting to the change and you have no food to help give you energy right now. You'll come around. Hang in there!
