  1. No they shouldn't If fluids are stuck then your stomach would have to be completely swollen shut and they wouldn't get stuck they would come back up or slowly drain through. It may be hard to get them down though.
  2. Well at least it's over! I hurt to when I woke up. I never lie about that when someone's asks. I was only nauseated the first two days when I stood up. Good thing is it's all getting better right? It's a process and not always sunshine and roses, but it's worth it

Do you now have a prescription for a nausea medication? Rest would be good.

    Atkins/Stalled

I do low carb so I guess Atkins or a modified version, I'm probably way more strickt though. It works for me.

    Can you see the loss?

    Yes I can see it.
  7. I did small sips in the beginning but now 5 months post op I can drink water just like I use to. Keep at it!
  8. Fluids can be slow going at first because your stomach is swollen, you just keep at it and yes it gets much better.
  9. You look great! Congrats!
  10. I'm 5 months post-op and still have days I don't want to eat so I'm a protein shake and quest bar girl to the max. The two things I never have an issue with.
  11. 1) Not going to lie I hurt! And I was told I wouldn't so I was also mad! it was short lived though, maybe 15 mins. 2) I was in the recovery room for about 20 mins after waking, then to my room. 3) I got up and walked as soon as I got to my room (to pee). 4) Yes I had a PCA pump (morphine) 5) I didn't have any home meds, only what I was prescribed at discharge (narcotic, PPI & nausea med)

    I need advice

How is your body suppose to heal and function without a protein source? That's very odd. Protein is extremely important in the way the body functions.
  13. @@IcanMakeit I'm with you.
  14. I might be "Hippie" not sure. I have hips. My waist has always been smaller. Anywho I'm losing a lot in those areas.

    So disappointed

Your doing fine. I do low carb, which is easy when your top priority is protein. If your mom sounds disappointed she will have to get over it it's not going to be a fast process,if your doing what your surgeon is telling you to do than then there's no need for disappointment or added stress. I wouldn't worry about how others feel your doing unless it's your surgeon..he's the professional.

true confessions; how I invaded the "mens room"

    That's hilarious!
  21. Congrats on making the decision. I am 5 months post op welcome!
  22. C@@Anumarie you can call and talk to a BCBS rep and find out what's going on. I have BCBS Fed and I called plenty of times for different things. It could just be paper work mistakes? I would call and see what you can find out.
  23. Ok mini stroke as in she's still capable of taking care of herself and being alone once discharged? Cancer as in what stage? I guess what I'm asking is how sick is she? Are you her only care taker once she's released? Does she live alone? Will she need a home nurse or someone to watch and be with her as soon as she leaves? Those are the questions I would want answers to before making a decision. If it were my mother (whom I love more than life) if I was her only caretaker and she was sick enough that she would be needing me immediately upon discharge I would postpone my surgery until she was ok. It's true you will probably only be out of commission for about a week (give or take) but I know how I was right after surgery, I'm also a nurse and I wouldn't be able to care for a patient properly at that stage Let alone my own mother. Now, this is all depending on how bad your mothers condition is. If she's still ok to not need someone with/watching her 24 hrs a day then you will probably be fine to have your surgery. I don't know your entire situation or hers so it's hard to give you the correct advice. I may also be a little crazy about my momma so I would put her above my own needs/wants just as she has done for me I wish you both all the best.
