I would not consider YOU a successful WLS patient!
Elode replied to RJ'S/beginning's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Of course you should be here! Does this site help you? Do you find comfort here and can you shed some light on certain situations that may arise with someone else who is struggling or just needs some advice on something you have already experienced? What your "friend" fails to realize is that this site is a "SUPPORT" group of people! We don't just support the people who go through WLS and never have an issue or have the picture perfect out come! How boring would this be if people didn't have different "journeys"!? What the hell would we have to talk About?! Don't you DARE for one second let an "outsider" with no freaking clue tell you you don't belong among your own! How dare she even say such nonsense?! You do what makes you happy! -
True!

Thanks for the recipe...hope your feeling better!

I would say it's all in how they were taught. Just as we nurses don't do patient care exactly alike. It's all in the training and just overall care in general. It sounds like your DR is very Thorough and admit about certain aspects that he deems the right way for his practice, it doesn't mean your friends DR isn't a good surgeon. My surgeon is also a top trauma surgeon and he didn't recommend any protein shots in the morning and we sure as heck don't spend and hour talking (he's way to busy for that!) But he did answer all my questions ect......I also had a drain it's just all in the practice! Sounds like you have a good one

Congratulations!

Yay! Hope your recovery is speedy! Congratulations!

It could be from what ever meds you may be taking. And sometimes even when we think we are drinking what seem like a ton it's really not as much as our body actually needs. It will go away...eventually.

How much weight can i expect to lose with gastric sleeve
Elode replied to grace1989's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would say it all depends on how much work your willing to put into it most numbers are achievable if you do the work. Good luck! -
Girl take your pills! Even if you don't "feel" acid its in there and it could cause all these symptoms PLUS ulcers In your new stomach!

They do have 30 days legally to make a decision, If your already approved and it says that then I don't see why you can't make a surgery date? I have BCBS FED and they called me before they even told my DR (mainly Because I harassed the hell out of them unfortunately as aggravating as it is they have the power for the most part so just Wait......BUT hey who cares Your approved!!!! Don't be aggravated be happy!!!! You waited this long!
-
If it's already approved by insurance I doubt they would cancel it. They would lose a lot of money. Good luck!

Is it itchy where you had the blood pressure cuff on? Is it your actual arm or shoulder pain? Air can get trapped In Your shoulder after surgery...even days Later....

Went out shopping and came back with a super full feeling
Elode replied to tfarr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It could just be your stomach swelling Especially in the healing stage it can get aggravated and swell at times. -
Yes, it's more than likely because your body is in ketosis. When ever you limit your carbs to an extreme like most of us do on pre-op diets and after surgery our body's start burning stored fat as its fuel source And that fat break down is what's making your breath yucky!! (That's the short of it) it's called ketosis breath and its a good thing (and annoying!) Brushing your teeth ect..can help mask it but the smell is coming from your insides so there's really nothing you can do about it until it either goes away by its self or you up your carb intake. Drink lots of water (well what you can). Embrace the stinky-ness lol!!

THE MAGIC WORDS: "YOU'VE BEEN APPROVED!"
Elode replied to blissfulbeing's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yay! Congratulations! -
@fluffy4nowByes YES you will more than likely have trouble getting in fluids at FIRST...its a struggle but as time goes by it gets easier. I am almost 6 weeks Out now and I can drink pretty normal for the most part..water being the hardest to get through. Everybody is different so only time will tell how you will do but it's very normal to have issues in the beginning.
