    Catheter problems.

It's more common to have a catheter at least during surgery. Most will place one once your knocked out and Remove it before you wake up. You may never even know you had one.

    Catheter problems.

The inability to urinate after surgery is usually caused by a condition called neurogenic bladder, a type of bladder dysfunction that interferes with the nerve impulses from the brain to the bladder. abdominal surgery, general anesthesia and pain meds can attribute to it. Don't worry it's not permanent you will be peeing in the potty before you know it! Hang in there! Now, that's probably more info than you wanted but what the heck! : )

    Do's and Dont's

The first two days home where probably the worst days but after that everything started getting so much better! I pulled (took) my own JP drain out and felt automatically better! I hated that thing! Time flys after surgery! I can't believe it's been 6 weeks! It seems like it was all a weeks ago.

That's a good decision! Pre-op was pretty easy as far as my insurance approval, appointments, ect.. Pre-op diet was just as I stated above. Not The funniest two weeks of my life but not unbearable. The actual surgery itself went smooth...waking up in recovery SUCKED until they got my pain under control (probably 5-10 mins but it was bad!) after that the rest of my hospital stay (2days) was good, a little nausea the First two days when I stood up but I never puked. I had a PCA pump with morphine that made me all loopy. I never had any gas pains ect...dry mouth was one of the worst parts Until the next day when I passed my swallow test and was allowed water (hallelujah) I had a JP drain that was not my friend and staples that I didn't Appreciate but over all a success!

Are you asking how my surgery was or how my pre-op was?

    Do's and Dont's

@@Pr33ty Heard I have heard of patient being told that but I think in part it's a scare tactic that they use because they want you to be serious about losing the weight they asked you to. Now, if they pushed your surgery up I don't see how they can expect you to lose that much weight in that short of a time period?! It's a Huge expectation on their part! I don't know your medical history or stats but if you have any serious health issues such as heart ect.. And your weight at this point isn't considered safe for the procedure Than yes I can see them denying you. If it's just to shrink your liver then no it does not take a full month or certain number of lbs lost to do that.

You could also do a pre-op diet like I did for two weeks: 3-4 protien shakes a day (premier protien was my go to ) low sodium broth sf popsicles and sf jello...that's it! I lost 11 in that two weeks.

@@Pr33ty Heard Well it sounds like your eating right. Keep it up you will lose if you continue on a low carb diet and keep up the water intake. Peeing all the time stinks!

    Dizziness

May I ask how you are taking your blood pressure? A blood pressure can read normal when your sitting and drop when you stand up its called Orthostatic hypotension. Try taking your Bp in a seated position and then take one immediately after you stand up to rule out a Bp issue. If you are diabetic it could very easily be your BS, and even if your not. Do you have a glucose meter?

    In need of some advice

The difference is especially in the beginning you won't be able to "Fall off" because you will (should) have such a restriction that you CANT over eat. Also, in "most" cases you will lose your appetite. Using myself as an example: I use to eat all the time...I mean all the time and way to much. My whole world revolved around eating, what I was going to eat later while eating lol! Now I have to remind myself to eat. I don't feel hungry ever (which is amazing) and when I do eat it's Maybe 2-3 oz of food if I can fit it and more often than not I can't. So instead of worrying about what I'm going to eat all the time I place importance on eating period, and Just trying to get at least 600 calories in in a day which can be a struggle when you don't have a Hunger sensation. I like the taste of food I just get full really easily. Granted I am only 1 1/2 months out and with time my stomach should relax and I will be able to eat more but I'm forced to eat light which in return has helped me lose weight (30lbs in 5 Weeks and counting!) That is the difference between this surgery and all the other weight loss plans I've tried and believe me when I say, I've tried a lot!

Well I hope I read that wrong and your not JUST drinking a protein shake and That's it?! Because if you are you will put your body right into starvation mode and it will hold on to fat ect for survival and you probably won't lose what you need to lose. Why do you need to lose so much in a month? Your best option would be to do a low carb diet and drink LOTS of water...lots!
