    I need your help/opinion

I say if your physician, nutritionist , and psychiatrist all recommend it and you want it then go for it! Your parents will get over it ! I understand them being worried about it but they should be just as concerned with your health being overweight. You are grown, you make the decisions now.

    Discouraged Already

@@lljenkins Lol!! Sorry I had to laugh because I KNEW the responses you were going to get to this!!! I see that your new and just joined here so you probably aren't aware of the amount of post that are pertaining to this same subject..losing a dang good amount and never thinking it's enough, comparing your self to others ect....Since you are new I can see how you would come to some of the conclusions you have. For some reason we look at pre and post pictures, read all the success stories and get the illusion that as soon as we have surgery we will turn into that person with those results. I think sometimes we forget to take note of the time frame that a lot of this happens in and a lot of post stories don't add in all the extremely hard work they put in on a daily basis to get to where they are it doesn't just happen Because they had surgery. Point being....get your inspiration from the success stories, pictures, weights ect... But focus your attention On lljenkins! Be proud of yourself for your choices and work hard to make YOUR OWN success story! Don't add stress where stress is not needed! Good luck loVe!

  4. And that my friend is why they call it a "journey" everyone is different. I read plenty of post on here almost daily about people not getting in the right amount of fluids, hate protein drinks, not losing fast enough, still hungry, wishing they could eat more, Ect...heck I think you could find all of that in the last 24 hrs! I myself am a mix. I do get in what I'm suppose to. I am losing at what I feel is appropriate for me, I let my body do its thing so no pressure. I have a variety of foods so I don't eat the same things all the time, I HATE the metallic taste but I deal, I will also hate losing my hair so it is what it is. I don't have hungry and I'm elated that I don't want or have any desire to eat large portions...hell that's what Got me in this mess in the first place! So see it's different for everyone! I think it's a lot in what you put into it. Something's you really need to do like protein but you don't have to eat the same thing all the time, you just have to put some effort into finding some recipes that suit your requirements. Everyone can make adjustments one way or another to help the process along if they so choose. Variety is nice!
  5. Don't be scared be grateful you don't have to worry about that! Your doing awesome!

    Yay!
  8. @@meganrae<3 The one big fear I had during my process was the fact that The requirements said I had to have a BMI of 40 with proof for two years documented and I like your self lost a huge chunk Of weight just less than a year before (for my wedding) I was down to 197. Being 5'8 That put my BMI at 30 so no where near where it needed to be. I to this day have no clue how or why they approved me?! I did write it all down for them And on top of that I only have two documents I could give them for the two years because the clinic I was going to to do my travel nursing blood work, physical ect closed down and that's all I had. My other document had 220 as the weight which was only maybe a 34 BMI. But like I said at my first weigh in I was 256 so rt on the money. (I actually had to gain 6lbs) . My husband works for the federal government and he just added me to his insurance plan and within a week I was on the phone grilling them with the questions about how to get approved. I had the insurance maybe 3 months on the day of surgery. You will probably want to get approved for the insurance before you start Asking about the requirements...or not I don't think it really matters. If you find one and you know wls is in the plan then go for it! Mexico would be a little scary but that was my plan B. Truthfully I am lucky that I had a great surgeon and I'm thankful that my office visits are all paid for by insurance (along with my surgery) so my whole out of pocket was @500 for everything BUT If I couldn't go see him once every month and now every 3 I would be fine. All they do is weigh me and ask how I'm doing, give me a vitamin b-12 shot and I'm out the door. I have been lucky not to have any complications though.

    Pre-op nausea

@@Catcutie I never felt sick from my protein drinks during pre-op but you may need to alternate Between drinks of protein and drinks of water to thin it out a little or try a different shake. Good luck!
  10. @@sld010 Yes, your right you really should stop and stick to your surgeons plan. Remember just because you can do it doesn't mean you should. The last thing you want to do it cause yourself Issues. Your stomach is no where near healed yet so be careful! Hang in there you will be eating "real" food before you know it. Don't rush!
  11. @@meganrae<3 It's usually quit the process, and Im sure For a whole heap of reasons but a big one is they want people to be prepared and understand what their getting themselves into. I'm not so sure a one month and done process Would be healthy or advisable for most. My requirements were shorter than some I only had to do a 3 month monthly checki-in. I didn't have any health issues but my BMI was right on 40 at the first weigh-in and with my insurance I qualified and was subsequently approved on the first attempt. As far as your insurance not approving wls that is going to give you a whole new set of issues with finding a insurance company that does approve it. I have BCBS FED So unless you are a federal employee or married to one ect...I don't think mine would be a possibility BUT do your research and find something. I have a feeling your in for quit the wait but if it's something you truly want you will wait it out and succeed in having it done. Another option is going to Mexico and paying cash. I can't speak on that because It wasn't the route I took but there are people on here that have and could help you out with that I'm sure. Good luck to you! Patience is a virtue !

    No restriction

@@sbtanewme Hi, what is it that you are eating? Are your calories mainly from protein drinks? How are you measuring your food?
  15. @@HawaiianTexan Every other day is not good enough If your having acid, did you tell your surgeon? I take Omeprazole 20mg every morning and he ok'd me to take two a day if I needed because twice I felt that burn. What mg are you taking? I'm not going to tell you to take meds but If it were me I would be taking those puppy's daily until you call Monday and check. You shouldn't be hurting when you have a medication specifically for acid.

    40 French bougie

No but mine used a 38 so mm smaller. I have really good restriction and I've lost 30 lbs in 5 weeks. The bougie sizes are just an estimate there's a lot of different techniques that the surgeons can do that make it smaller ect. @@sbtanewme
  17. Meat and cheese plates! Boiled eggs, chicken and tuna salad, any lean protein really. If your not sick of soups they can be a good option. I really like the P3 packs that have the meat cheese and nuts. They are small and perfect size.
  18. What a lovely feeling huh!? I love not having to focus soooo much on food all the time!
  19. @@Spooney Ha! I had that same question! I don't think I ever really got an answer, seeing as how they are a liquid that's how I treated them. The not drinking water is in part to help not push the food through so fast to where you can eat more so protein drinks won't be an issue....I don't think.
