I have had a hard time even eating carbs since I got the band. i don't eat rice, bread or anything like that on a regular basis. I don't think i get enough protein since it is really hard for be to eat meats. What are good sources of protein that are easy to eat?

Hi all, I definately consider myself a slow loser. I was banded February 2007 and to date have only lost a total of 37lbs. I haven't even broken the 200lb mark which frustrates me the most. I go through spurts where I excercise a lot but got a little lazy over the holidays. I have seen my surgeon pretty regularly every other month and have always gotten a fill. I asked at my last visit what I could do about it and the suggestion was to add a Protein shake to my diet. Miraculously I found one right away that I like and I add Peanut Butter and skim milk to it and drink it for Breakfast. i never ate breakfast before so I know this is a move in the right direction. I have been doing this for almost a week now and to my dismay i have actually gained a pound. Should i be concerned that these shakes are going to cause me to gain weight? i am just so tired of being stuck at this plateau. I have been hovering the 210 mark for probably 6 months now. i know I should be glad i am not gaining. but i really want to break 200. Any words of wisdom? Sincerely, Tina

Hang in there and talk to your doctor about your concerns.

I am past the 10cc mark as well. I am at 11.2 cc's and my doctor talked to the vendor for the lap band as well as other doctors and apparently the 10cc band actually holds more than 10 cc's. I have had many fills to get to this point and I am still not sure if i am at the "sweet spot" yet. I try to focus more on how my body feels than the amount of liquid in the band. Especially since after the last fill I was at 11.8 cc's and ended up in the ER becasue i was too restricted. Just take it slow and pay attention to your body.

Hi all. This is my first time actually posting even though I have visited the site many times for encouragement. I am coming up on my one year anniversary and have only lost 31 lbs. I began my journey at 248 lbs on Feb 22, 2007. It was very slow to begin with. I have the "large" 10 cc band and it took quite a while to actually feel some restriction. Then at one point I went from feeling restirction to nothing, right after getting a band fill. I don't think I will ever quite understand the human body . I am now at point where I feel restriction but the weight is not coming off. I am over the 10cc mark which my doctor says is okay for this band, but why isn't the weight coming off? I do not PB often..is this normal? My cousin who has lost 100lbs in two years says she PB's at least 3 times week. Should I compare myself? I even started consistently at the gym once a week ( I know it's not much but I figured I had to start somewhere). I am desprately seeking the 199 mark. That will be a monumetus occasion! I guess I am frustrated because I spoke to a friend last week who had surgery a few weeks after me and she has already lost 50 lbs, and is under the 200 mark. I really want the band to work to it's full potential. I hate to think that I went through surgery and still weigh over 200 lbs. It is sooooo disappointing.<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

Thanks to all for the supportive words. I will continue to push through and be successful. Niki - you do the same, hang in there and we will all get there! I think I may have to start journaling too...it makes sense.
