My nurse made me feel like a failure and a PIG
dandydeb replied to kbear's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is great news and information. I am thrilled with this site and having surgery in 19 days. I cant wait. -
It is very normal to feel that way. My surgery date is the 19th, I am both excited and nervous. I hate hearing we don't wake up skinny. That has been my dream all my life. but now I am finally doing something about it. I know it will take a while but I am up for it. I am hoping my ticker shows, took me forever to figure this out.

My nurse made me feel like a failure and a PIG
dandydeb replied to kbear's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In Washington only the licensed professional Registered nurse or licensed practical (vocational) nurse can call themselves a nurse. Unfortunately many people think anyone in a dr. office or hospital is a "nurse". Not true, in fact, it is illegal to call yourself a nurse if you are not one. I have been an educator at a Medical Assistant program (I am a RN with a Masters) and their education is about 7 months with a test they can or cannot take at the end of the training to become certified. They do not have the critical thinking skills of nurses. There are so many differences. The reason we see so many MA's instead of nurses. They are a lot less expensive to hire. I have seen excellent MA's. They are the ones that are proud of what they do and not the "wanna be nurses". Can you tell this is a hot topic for me. Just ask the person in the office of hospital what kind of nurse they are, they will usually have to admit they are an MA and that will help to deflate them a little. -
Hi, I have my appt with Dr. T on Monday and then will schedule for sure I am certainly ready to get there. How was your pain? That is my huge concern after surgery. Did you have any problem? deb

I know what you mean about being on a roller coaster. I go from very excited to just being in limbo waiting for things to get moving.

Are there any banded (or soon to be banded) quilters?
dandydeb replied to fluffyinks's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi All, I am also a quilter and scheduling my surgety for the 19th of December. I have a home hobby machine quilter, and embroidery maching. I love to design my own quilts. Have been in a few craft shows, but without much luck. It is what I do to relax and have fun. Wouldn't it be fun to get together and share all of our stash? I have completed all of my steps except final meeting with Dr, and to schedule surgery. I am excited to get going. and feel like I am limbo right now. Look forward to hearing from more of you. deb -
