I am on liquids for 4 more days. This month long on pourabe liquids is killing me. Actually hasn't been bad until the last couple of days, and I feel hungry all the time. I hope starting on real food will make a difference. deb

Ari, I have not been in touch much the last week or two. I am so sorry to have missed you. You have had your challenges with that office. deb

Heidi, Even if they say no, you can still continue to work to get it done. Does your Dr. know of all you struggles with weight loss and lack of energy. If not you need to start building that history, call and complain about how you are feeling. Discuss and get documented all the weight problems you are having. This will mean some extra visits to the Dr. for you, but worth it in the longrun. It might take a year, but it can be done.

Heidi, co-morbitities would be metabolic syndrome, sleep apnea, any joint, etc pain due to the excess weight, high blood pressure, diabetes, any health issue you have due to the excess weight. Lisa is right about Group Health and the difficulties but do you have bariatric surgery listed as one of the things your insurance covers?

How the Lap-Band actually works, fills and refills
dandydeb replied to Wendell Edwards's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
it was probably just 1 cc. I would give it some time. It usually takes 3-4 fills to get it to the sweet spot -
What is it you hate about the band. the way you feel after surgery?, the liquid diet? Talk about what you hate. I know I felt terrible after the surgery. Slept through the first week. Now two weeeks out I feel great, having some cravings, but honestly dealing with head hunger more than anything else. So let's see what is really the problem and see how it can be improved upon. You have taken the first great step to improved health. No one said it would be easy but we can talk about it. I don't want to be pushy is you dont want to. If you want to I am here. Feel free to email if you want.

I can't believe you two are getting fills. Let us know how it goes. My postop appt went well. I was down 15. WOW. Would love to see that continue to go that fast. But doubt it will. I will be thinking of you for your fills. Don't forget you can always come see me at my office in the school across the street. I would love a visitor.

How the Lap-Band actually works, fills and refills
dandydeb replied to Wendell Edwards's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am required to see my Dr every month for a year and we decide on fills at that time. I am only two weeks post op and luckily feel full on liquids most of the time. My Dr. Explained he sewed the stomach around the band to prevent slippage. -
what a great motivator you are. I agree Frisky got some very bad information, have you talked with a dietician? I Have not figured out the eating part yet as I am still on mushies, go to dr the 31st for the first time. Then 4 weeks til first fill. Down 15 already, but that must be water. Today i am really working toward getting in all the water and protein from here on out. Have a great day and happy new Years

I am so glad to hear you are all doing so well, even a little jealous, as the first week forme was a doozy, but am not 9 days post op and feeling great, had my first big outing yesterday and felt wonderful. We should all pat ourselves on the back.
-
Granny K and all, we all need to remember, even thoough this was laproscopic that we did nave abdominal surgery. It takes time and patience to get over this surgery. For every hour you are under anesthesia it takes one month to recover. So give yourself a break, rest lots, stay hydrated and pat yourself on your back. I finally figured this out after my third day of feeling like crap.

Today is my 6th day and I agree it is a turn around day. I feel pretty good, incision site is itchy. Still nap at least once a day. I have not had the severe gas pain. Did Lortab every 3 hours for two days. My husband said i statrted talking in my sleep so i stopped it and have been fine. The talking stopped too, thank goodness, I don't want him to know my secrets:) There is a site here someplace that talks about the body bugg, it looks very interesting. I don't think I will get one yet. Will wait to see how I do. Dr. appt the 31st. All I have to say is congratulations to all of us. WE ARE WINNERS!!! Keep up the good work.

what does your Dr. say about the fills, do you only deal with the nurse -
Christina, my Dr said the same thing. no pre fill as the lap band already does some restriction. I am now 4 days out and starting to feel human again. I was not very realistic about recovery. No pain meds since yest am. not sure i am getting enough fluids or protein, but i definately am trying
-
So glad you are doing well. I feel like crap. Stomach pain, tired, hurts to move, but not as bas as yesterday. Overall I am improving day by day. I don't know why I can't have a simple recovery. Sure does sound like I am whining. Thanks for listening anyway. I would still do this again. deb
