    Anyone Exhausted???

Niterun, congrats on the 30 pounds! Way to go! skw08 - hang in there, you will feel more like yourself in the coming weeks and eventually you'll have even more energy. DD told me this weekend that she couldn't get over how energetic I am now. :-D

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

Thanks Tkl. I will say that even though I'm slow, this program has made a huge difference in my body. I went down a size from 8 to 6 even though I only lost a couple of pounds since then. I can see a drastic difference in my legs and even my stomach! We do need a diploma. Somebody who's good at that sort of thing should make one and post it where we can get it. LOL Congrats on starting the program! Keep us posted on your progress.

Quiet group here, how is everyone?

Ang, Great to hear from you! I was terrible about exercise, but then I tried the Couch to 5K and I loved it. I just finished the 9 week program on Saturday. I plan to continue running. I'm really enjoying it! Best of luck to you and keep us posted!

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

Kathy - Congrats! That's awesome! Well I'm officially a C25K graduate. I did it! I honestly wasn't sure if I would stick with it the entire 9 weeks, but here I am and I'm so happy about it. Sat DH and I ran that track near my house. It was soooo much harder than the treadmill. It was super windy too which I'm sure didn't help. I made it the full 30 mins, but I was going really slow the last 5-10 mins. My pedometer says I went 2.5 miles and again, that includes 10 mins of warmup/cool down. DH could walk past me while I was "jogging".:smile2: Anyway, I kept at it and I finished the 30 mins. Later that day we played baseball with my nephew and yesterday DH and I played tennis with my 21 year old DD and her fiance of the same age. Whew! I can barely walk today. I'm soooo sore, but in a very good way. I plan to run Tue, Thur, and Sat this week and Sat will be on the track. May 9 is just around the corner and I don't feel ready for it.

    Betrayal is a BITCH

Hi Tina, So glad to hear you are doing so well. So what you aren't 21 anymore, you still deserve to enjoy yourself and have a good time. I was 27 when I went through my divorce and I did exactly what you're doing now. I still look back on that time as "the good ole days"! :-D Enjoy and best of luck with the PS. I can't wait to see the new you!

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

Carol, Thanks I did see your post about the mulch. There is a school near my house with a dirt/gravel track. I think I'll see if DH will go there with me Sat morning so I can try that out. The 5K is on blacktop. I've walked/jogged it the previous 2 years and know the route, but I've never tried to run the whole thing. I'm going to try though!

Help Me Get Up Off This Computer Chair!

Well said Mac! You always inspire me! For me, I needed a specific program. I'm a Step1, Step2, Step3 - list checker kind of gal. So the Couch to 5K was perfectly suited for that. I do it at home because I have very little time for anything outside of work, so that helps me too. Little by little I'm adding other things, chin-ups, push-ups, hoola hoop, etc. Good luck and get moving!

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

Hey Guys, I'm on WEEK 9 of the C25K! Yeah me! So here's the thing. I'm still really slow. I have a question for you veterns. I am signed up for a 5k on May 9th. Currently, at week 9, I'm running 30 minutes, but only getting about 2.6 miles in and that includes my 5 min warmup and 5 min cooldown. So I have a long way to go to get the full 3.1 miles. After this week, should continue to add time to my run each week in an effort to eventually get to 3.1 miles? OR Should I keep it at 30 mins and focus on increasing my speed to attempt to get up to 3.1 miles? I'm concerned that I won't be ready for the race. I haven't run on the ground at all still, just the treadmill. Mac, Whosya, Kathy, et al, words of wisdom?

    Hypoglycemia???

I used to keep a glucometer and test my sugar from time to time, but the thing with hypoglycemia is that is unpredictable and testing the sugar doesn't help you establish patterns, etc. It's really only good for telling you exactly how low you are.

    goal weight versus happy weight/body

My doctor and I discussed it and he agreed with me in the beginning, but now as I fuss about struggling to lose the rest of the weight, he said "I think you are at a healthy weight and for me you are there, you are a success story." He said I could get the rest of it off, but probably would have to "diet" it off and that the band had probably taken me as far as it was going to. I'm still working on it, but it's very slow going. LOL I totally understand wanting the TT. As for your butt, try some stairs. Mine was nearly gone from losing weight and I started walking the stairs at work. It did wonders for me!

  13. I found these great adult gummy Vitamins at Target. Taste good and easy to take. Plus I take the calcium chews. I was taking liquid Centrum, but it can have an awful aftertaste as well. I'm happy with the gummy vitamins. I saw an ad for them in my SHAPE magazine.

    goal weight versus happy weight/body

Hi, I set my goal using the exact same logic as you. Now I'm a little over 10 pounds from my goal and I am acutally pretty happy with my body right now. I started exercising and lost another size, even though I only lost a few pounds. I'm now in a size 6 and I'm getting much more toned and fit, but I can't let go of that number. Doc says as far as he's concerened I'm at goal and everyone around me keeps telling me not to lose more, but I am obsessed with reaching that number. Unfortunately, that doesn't help you, but I thought you might at least want to know you aren't alone. As for the PS - you lost 35 pounds and need PS? Did you lose more before LB or something? I lost almost 80 pounds and although I would like PS, I probably will never have it. I don't have any overlapping skin or anything like that. Basically my birthday suit looks like stretched out panty hose. LOL

    Betrayal is a BITCH

Hey Tina, Glad to hear you are doing well. I've been thinking about you. Congrats on FINALLY calling him your Ex! That speaks volumes about your mental state. Way to go!!!
  16. Thanks. I went to my GP to discuss my sugar problems. He's going to do another GTT. When I have my 5 hour test 19 years ago, they took me to the hospital in an ambulance. I'm really dreading the test next Fri. Ever since I started exercising, I'm having trouble again with my hypo. Doc said I need to eat more carbs. I'm not so sure about that.
  17. Hi, Thanks for the response. I've been eating 1/2 banana and a snack size protien bar before I run. I'm on week 9 of the program and my sugar is all over the place. I thought it would stabelize as I got in better shape, but it's not. Doc says I need more carbs, but he doesn't seem to believe in hypoglycemia. He's going to start me all over again with a glucose tollerance test. :-(

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

Kathy - Congrats! I'm starting week 9 of the C25K tomorrow. I can not believe I have almost completed the program!! I'm so proud of myself for sticking with it. I've been struggling with blood sugar issues lately. I'm going to call a nut to see if I can get it back under control. I'm hypoglycemic and was doing so well since losing the weight, then when I started running, it's acting up again. You know what they say "No good deed goes unpunished."
  19. I gained 2 pounds when I went from liquids to mushies. I remember I started my first thread on here about it. The thing is that you have been on liquids for weeks now with pre-op and post-op and your intestines are basically empty. Normally we carry several pounds of stuff in there at all times. So when you start mushies, well, it loads back up and your system gets back to what is normal for it. Now that you've endured that jump, you'll begin to lose again and will be fine.

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

krtork, so sorry about the sprained rear. Take good care of yourself so you will heal properly and can get back into your routine sooner. Carol, wow SGK in January, I would have never guessed. My son is in the Navy and is currently at PCola, he complained all winter about how cold it was down there this year.
  21. Same here. I'm really looking forward to summer this year!
  22. Ebony, I agree with the others! I was thinking about cutting and pasting your advice in an email to my 21 year old daughter. Although I need to make them more generic since the nature of her problem is less personal. I really liked the part about the "I" sentences. Very well said.

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

Carol - Hey! Glad to see you are sticking with C25K. I started week 8 last night. I can hardly believe it! Hey, check out Susan G. Komen, race for the cure for your area. I think their 5k is always near Mother's Day weekend across the nation. I run the Richmond VA race and it's May 9 this year. I'm even signed up for a timer chip! Rene - So glad to see you back! Good for you for starting C25K again! I wasn't on here when you were before, I wasn't ready to exercise but I finally accepted it and am having fun with it! Angie is also starting again after having her baby. I have to share an NSV with you guys. DH told me last night that he can really feel the muscles in my legs and that there is a huge difference! He's such a sweet guy and his complements come straight from the heart, so it meant a lot to me. Now if only my birthday suit wasn't too big! :cursing:

Hard Time Eating - Stuck & Slow Weightloss?

Being too tight will def hinder weight loss. I know because it happened to me. What happens is that you slowly being to eat slider foods and they are inherantly high sugar, high fat and high carb. This will in turn make you hungrier than ever and you get on a vicious roller coaster. Get the unfill, under fluro if you can so he can get you at the right amount of restriction.
  25. SuzanneG

    extremely frusterated

If you are eating slider foods and carbs, that would explain why you are hungry. Try eating low carb, high protien, no white carbs at all, no sugar and of course, no liquid calories. Weigh and measure your meals. Let me know how that works for you.
