Is the term Morbidly Obese considered offense?
pinkbunies posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was wondering if anyone here considers the term "Morbidly Obese" offense? I was Morbidly Obese until a few months ago. When I talk about my surgery, I don't use the F word. I say Morbidly Obese. Some people have become so offended and they aren't even large people. They are pencil stick thin and act like they are defending larger people. It irritates me because they have no idea what it is like to be Morbidly Obese your entire life and then finally slim down and see what its like to feel normal. I think Morbidly Obese is more polite than to say... I was fat... there's the F word I try to avoid. -
what type of surgeries are available to get rid of the scars?
pinkbunies posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have very minimal scarring but since the surgery I have splurged on myself and I finally appreciate how I look. I want to look my best. Does anyone know of surgeries or procedures that are available to get rid of the small scars on our tummies and make them look as close to normal as possible? I've heard some stuff about laser surgeries. Any information would be appreciated. In the US or even Mexico. I've racked up another 425,000 miles since my surgery so I can def. go to Mexico again if needed. I don't have excess skin, but I do have scarring. -
Question...do you look older after your weight loss?
pinkbunies replied to allyray's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 31 and I'm getting carded now. I reached my goal weight today of 220 lbs. I'm going to keep on losing as much as I can. I've been told I look anywhere from 21 to 24. Before surgery, I looked like I was upwards of 38 and I felt like I was 50. Always tired, out of breath and couldn't do anything and slept all the time. Now its almost impossible to stop me. -
Is the term Morbidly Obese considered offense?
pinkbunies replied to pinkbunies's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We live in a very sad society. What concerns me more is that the US is becoming more and more obese and its not as simple as "work out" and "eat better". I had said in a discussion else where that food was addictive and its hard to get into shape. People started telling me that food was not addictive and I was full of it. I then took a picture of a loaf of bread and asked them if they knew what half of the chemicals in the bread were. They went silent. I then went on further about what MSG does and how it makes you want more more more. Let's face it, if food wasn't addictive then food companies and fast food companies would be out of business. They have to use chemicals in their food otherwise our body doesn't crave it. It's the same argument with Cigarettes. -

The "bariatric Blues"
pinkbunies replied to kymmiej11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@kymmiej11 I bet you'll have access to Nioxin at cost. That stuff does great on thinning hair. Hairdressers work their butts off, so I can def. see you being exhausted. The weight loss varies for everyone. I lost a lot of weight then it slowed down. I worked out and worked out and I couldn't burn anymore than what my body was willing to part with. Soon you'll be falling out of your pants and shirts like me, then you can complain about your clothes not fitting... It is the best thing I've ever enjoyed complaining about. I def. suggest that you make sure your taking Biotin and your Vitamins. I didn't notice my hair thinning until a couple weeks ago. I upped my biotin and got some Nioxin and its coming back quick. In terms of regrets... think about this to help... there is nothing you can do to go back now. You can only go forward. It's a lot to go through but you said goodbye to bad habits and hello to exciting new good habits. In a year, you'll look back and laugh and be telling people the same thing. I was scared to death at some points but I just had to stay calm, realize there was no going back and all I did was say good bye to high blood pressure, diabetes, sleep apnea, bigger clothes and insecurity. I hit my goal weight of 220 lbs today. I'm not stopping yet. -
You did great. You don't have that far to go to get rid of it. I keep procrastinating about joining a gym because its so cold at home right now and I think this post finally made me do it. I'll know by 6pm tonight lol. Eating out is fun but try to stick to salads and try to avoid alcohol. Maybe once a week is fine but if your doing it each weekend, your going to pay for it. Also try to avoid sugar and starches. We all know what those do to us. grr And btw @@Faith41 you look amazing.

Try to get hooked on sugar free sobes or low calorie Gatorade. I'm still soda free, though I do have sweet tea often.

Oh and when I say hurts it is a weird feeling that lasts a whole 30 seconds. So it isn't that bad.

Dry Hair, Hair Loss, Too Slow Weight Loss
pinkbunies replied to BarnGirlWK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tea Tree Oil is amazing. I'd check out Sally's Beauty Supply and get the generic. It's half the price at Sally's. They have the tea tree oil shampoo. There is also Amazon if your lazy like me and don't want to go to the store. -

This made me realize I needed to upload some pictures. I'm not very photogenic and I don't see much of a difference, but I know its there. The wedding picture was taken in August. The small drivers license pic was taken in April of 14. The rest are all afters. -
Did you spouse diet with you?
pinkbunies replied to kikicoates78's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Yep. My hubby did and he's lost 25 lbs... not that he was large or even big to begin with, but my unhealthy eating habits rubbed off on him... and I put 35 lbs on him and the healthy habits have now rubbed off on him. We now fight over the last Protein shake and who is going to go get more We rent out three of our rooms in our house and our room mates complained at first because we changed our eating habits completely, but they now eat healthy too. No one in the house even drinks soda anymore. The room mates have also trimmed down and become healthier and have been very supportive. Sobe, Gatorade, bottled Water and tea is the only thing anyone consumes. We also found that we were spending an average of about $100.00 a week buying drinks while we were out working/running errands etc. We stated buying sugar free Sobe's at Wally World and we've taken that number down to about $40.00 because we're not going to QuikTrip all the time We also make it a point to keep 4 bottles of SOBE in the car with us at all times so we don't have to buy something unhealthy to drink. I figure over the course of a year this will add up to a lot. It's freezing cold here, but we try to get 10 miles a week in. Once it warms up again, we'll go back to 12 miles a day 7 days a week. -
I feel like I'm eating a lot but I found that I'm not eating enough. Did you suffer from depression before your surgery?
-
I'm in the same boat. Low and behold, I stop eating ice cream every night and then I hit a stall. I start eating ice cream every night again and then it starts falling off. True stuff. I'm taking Testosterone shots. I told the doc to up the dose and he did. I'm hoping this will help with it too. I just wan the current stall to go away for good.
