Help I've gained four pounds this week and don't know why!
pinkbunies replied to Wendyfm's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've gained three pounds this week... but I'm not worried about it... I'm going to chalk it up to all the cookies and cream candy bars I keep eating... I have an addiction and I'm going to stop... wow that sounds bad... but seriously your weight will go up and down. I'd say if you gain 10 lbs back then that is the time to start worrying. Try to stay active and def. keep an eye on it. I'd guess its just water weight as everyone else has said. -
I wish I had the patience you guys do. I gave up on counting calories and just work out like crazy and hope it works. So far it has.

I chose the sleeve because it is a more up to date procedure. I also have had many friends who had the bypass and they have regained all of the weight, whereas with the sleeve you do not regain all of your weight. The recovery was also quick and it was a very quick surgery.

My biggest fear with VSG
pinkbunies replied to AllisonK1986's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Its a life changing operation. It changes your entire life style for the better of course. Even if you only lost 40 lbs, thats 40 lbs less than you have been able to lose. The surgery is well worth it. No regrets here. -
2 week follow up appointment-feeling low
pinkbunies replied to MsTodd's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Don't pay attention to the scales. Weigh your self once a week and thats it. If you keep weighing on the scale it will drive you insane. I had a problem shortly after my surgery, like 3 months out of eating all the time, (grazing) just small bites here and there. I had to stop eating and restrict my intake. I also joined a gym and go everyday now. My Surgery was in October. I knew I would not lose weight instantly and I knew that the sleeve was only a tool and I had to pitch in and do my part... I also got scared to death knowing that it wasn't reversible and then I had to just come to terms with it and realize I did the right thing. If I don't go to the gym, I feel horrible. It's a lifestyle change for sure. You'll get there, don't give up. -
How accurate is your calorie counting?
pinkbunies replied to Sara51692's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I don't count calories. It'd make it way to hard for me lol. -
Do You Eat like a "Skinny" Person?
pinkbunies replied to GirlOnFire's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It takes a lot of work. I'm guilty of grazing. It's hard to over eat and if you do, no worries you will puke it back up. Keep in mind that it is a complete life style change. You need to exercise and workout everyday and eat right in order to take the most advantage of your sleeve. Remember, its only a tool... you gotta pitch in some work too. -
How many people have got the surgery because of your success?
pinkbunies posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm wondering how many people you know that have got the Gastric Sleeve Surgery as a result of seeing your success? I've seen 7 people now get it. 4 of my family members are getting it this year. They have said I've inspired them and I made it look simple. I've told them to use the surgeons that this forum suggests for the $3800.00 price. I've even offered to help them pay for it if they need it. I wish I would have done this 10 years ago. I can't wait for all of us to get pictures this time next year and see the changes. -
Everyone told me I didn't need to lose weight... and I said screw them... I knew I was morbidly obese and I told them that I appreciate them trying to be nice, but I had to face the reality that I was fat and I wanted to change my life for the better. Now they tell me... don't lose anymore weight, you look sick. I'm still 30 lbs away from my goal weight and I'm not stopping til I have a six pack or better. For once I feel amazing, attractive, I run every single day and I'm a gym rat now... they are still themselves, most of them overweight and no desire to change anything in their life. Remember that if Insurance is paying for this, your surgeon knows the insurance game and your surgeon doesn't make money if he/she doesn't do this surgery. They may mis-read the scale, but I doubt they are going to turn you away over a lb or two.

We went out for Mexican food the other night. I ordered a side of black Beans and could not finish the whole thing of beans and it was a small bowl.

BE HONEST SLEEVERS, did anyone think okay they are going to cut half of my stomach off and the weight will just fall off?
pinkbunies replied to tamelntre's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I never once thought about that. My biggest worry was... I thought they would put a thing in my weenie...forgive me I can't think of the medical term... but the thing that allows you to pee through a tube... so please find humor in that. I knew that it was not reversible and knowing that this is what they would do for people who had stomach cancer and it actually worked made me feel a lot better. I am happy I can't eat two extra large pizzas any longer in one sitting. I'm happy I'm not drinking 6 two litter diet cokes a day. I'm happy I'm not eating 6 double cheese burgers from McDonalds as a snack any longer. I'm just amazingly happy. -
Best piece of advice you have! I'm a day away from Gastric Sleeve surgery.
pinkbunies replied to Sara51692's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ask your Dr. for an anti anxiety medication. It did wonders for me. After surgery I felt like I was going to puke a few times but I never did. They loaded me up on all sorts of drugs via the IV and I was great. Walk a lot. If they put a tube in you after surgery, you'll notice that once the tube comes out, the pain greatly reduces. -

Bi-Polar Disorder, does Gastric Sleeve help at all?
pinkbunies posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I found this forum while looking up information on a place in Mexico. I have tried really hard for the last three years straight to trim down and get to a healthy weight and I keep failing. I do really well and then I gain the weight right back. I'm 29 and 6 7' and weigh 274. My ideal weight is 220. My BMI is 31.5. Yes, I know I'm tall but I'm still overweight and I can't get it under control. I also suffer from Rapid Bi-Polar disorder which is what brings me to post this question. Has anyone had the Gastric Sleeve Surgery that also suffered from Rapid-bi polar depression and if so, did you notice any improvement after your surgery? I'm wondering if my bi-polar depression will improve any if I can get my weight under control. I was at 310 pounds so I have improved but I can't drop below where I'm at right now. I walk 5 miles in the morning, 3 to 5 miles at night, an average of 45 miles a week. I watch what I eat, but my job ... sometimes I can burn a ton of calories and other times its slow. I have both the cash and credit to get the surgery either in the States or Mexico. I've talked to my Psych doctor and she tells me... your tall, your not over weight... but I have man boobs like no other and as she tells me this, she complains about her own weight and how she has tried so hard. So I don't know if its her job to tell me what I want to hear, or what. In short, I work hard and I can afford to pay for the surgery out of pocket as my insurance won't cover i. I'm just wondering if anyone has any input on the bi polar issue. I do take meds for it and have it under control. My family also has a history of diabetes, cancer, brain cancer, high blood pressure etc. I don't want to follow in their foot steps. I want to change things for the better. -
sleeve leakages
pinkbunies replied to so excited and so scared's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think what could cause a leak is the surgeon misses an area with the staples or the stitches. That barium stuff taste so gross. I remember I was so cold and all I wanted to do was go back to sleep. I barely had any energy for the leak test. Within 2 days of surgery I was flying home full of energy. -

I am a success...that has failed to continue
pinkbunies replied to Roo101769's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Hang in there. It isn't over yet. It takes a lot of discipline to stay on track. There aren't really any tricks to it. It's a matter of controlling what you eat. I am a gay male and I can't stay at the gym 2.5 hours. your friend has gotta be hot if hes spending that much time there lol. I get up at 4am every morning and go to the gym for 1 hour and 15 minutes, 7 days a week and never miss a day. A therapist? What is a therapist going to do for you? May I suggest instead a work out buddy who pushes you and drags you to the gym and helps keep you on schedule? My hubby and I started going to the gym in January of this year. In fact, everyone was going. Out of all of them, I'm the only one still going. I try each morning to get him out of bed and drag him with me, but he just sleeps. He is a tooth pick and he doesn't really need to go. I've also tried to guilt him, tell him I'm getting fat again because of him, asked nicely, I've tried everything. The gym is more enjoyable when I have someone to go with. So for now, its just me, spotify and my bottle of sobe every morning. I've come to know the morning employees really well and even text with them and hang out with them sometimes. Another suggestion, instead of a therapist, why not go see a doctor and ask them about a weight loss prescription pill? I know there is one that has topamax in it and trust me, just topamax by itself will help you lose 20 lbs without trying. Just an idea to help you get back on track. Remember you can't give up once you reach your goal weight, you have to stay on track and keep on going. I have a weaknes for white reese cups that are frozen. I can finish and entire bag in one sitting. Since I started working out more, I find I'm more hungry and do everything I can to fight the hunger. -
Sleeping/soiling Question
pinkbunies replied to pinkbunies's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Problem hasn't happened again. I eliminated my favorite veggie. -
After surgery, has anyone had a problem with soiling them self while asleep? I'm embarrassed to even ask, but I've had this problem twice. Nothing major, but enough that I had to shower and change the sheets/clothes etc. I'm going to see my Doctor about it this week but wanted to ask if anyone has had issues with this. I was having a problem with waking up in the middle of the night choking on vomit. My doctor put me on a prescription antacid and that problem has gone away but just last night I awoke to a minor mess. I'm wondering if it is a side effect of the medication? I'm not taking any laxatives. The only thing I am doing is I usually eat broccoli twice a day. If I get hungry at night I usually cook a bag of broccoli. I am staying hydrated really well. Trying to keep plenty of Protein in the diet. Any info is appreciated. Thanks
