Relationships after surgery
pinkbunies replied to Tashina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Relationship problems do sometimes come from the Surgery because it creates an insecurity with your spouse. I feared this would happen to me but it didn't. Stay the course and hopefully your spouse grows with you through the change. -
Yes, I'd wait at least 6 months before trying drastic food changes.

How long does 3 week stall last?
pinkbunies replied to rking's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine didn't last long. To break my stall I started eating ice cream every day. Yes, I really did this. Now you may ask... how is this possible? I wasn't taking in enough calories to lose more weight, so I had to speed up my metabolism to help in this. I stopped eating ice cream daily after I lost another 25 lbs. -
Do you eat when you're hungry?
pinkbunies replied to JupiterinVirgo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm about 14 months out now and I feel like I'm hungry all the time, but only on the days when I can't get a 1 hour work out in. I feel like I eat a lot but when I look at the portion I realize its not much. My weakness is Reese Peanutbutter cups...frozen... and pizza... 1 full slice of pizza. Point is, yes I eat when I'm hungry and I'm worried I'm going to get fat but I know as long as I workout, balance things right and stay on track with the occasional cheat....okay daily cheat... but my muscles are still getting big so I can't complain. -
This Hair Loss is Horrific
pinkbunies replied to TexasGirl86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Biotin is amazing. I take it daily and my finger nails grow so fast, along with my hair. I now get my hair cut every week because it grows so fast and a mani/pedi about once a month. I recommend the gummies. I buy mine at either Target or on Amazon. -
What I'm I doing wrong
pinkbunies replied to scarlep's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you joined a gym yet? This is one way to help break the stall. -
Just wait until clothes start to not fit and be really loose. It is great but also annoying. This is a sign of progress.

Anyone waffle between getting the surgery or not?
pinkbunies replied to heidikate's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it is safe to say we have all been there with you. I tried for two years prior to my surgery to lose weight. I was walking 6 miles in the morning and 6 miles in the evening and I was still failing. I realized it was time to take serious action because although I tried, I would lose weight then gain back even more. I on a whim decided to do the gastric sleeve surgery. My insurance would not cover it. I then looked to Mexico to save money and I had enough money on hand to do it. I used airline miles for the plane ticket there and back and I paid for the surgery with my Visa Card just to be on the safe side. I went a step further and worried about being off of work for to long so I also took out a signature loan of $4000.00 to have in my account just in case something happened. So I covered myself every step of the way. We would love to be able to take a pill and lose the weight but it is a short term answer to a long term problem. The Surgery is something I have no regrets doing and I wish it was available 10 years ago. I have more energy now than ever and heck, 1 year ago I would never have seen myself where I am today. Since my surgery I have tripled my business size, have gone on to get married, buy a house and now we are about to open another new business which is a huge undertaking but I'm ready for it. I attribute this all to my energy levels. Before I had no energy and I was fat and I wasn't happy with myself. I'm 32. My husband is 23. He is thin and in shape, goes with me to the gym everyday for personal training and has got in better shape because of me eating differently and doing the personal training... but I still have more energy than he does. The Sleeve is indeed a tool. You will lose a lot of weight without trying, but once you lose that amount of weight, you will find you want to push yourself more and if you change your lifestyle and eating habits, you will find the sleeve is an amazing tool and I doubt you will ever find yourself regrets getting the surgery. If you are paying cash or don't want to wait another day, try Mexico. I was able to get in within about a week or so of deciding I was doing this. Locally Doctors wanted me to go through this expensive six month program etc etc. All I heard from them was excuses and ways to charge me more money. -
Shakes on a budget
pinkbunies replied to girlygirl969696's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Boldthouse from Target. They are on the pricey side but have 32 grams of Protein in each shake. I try to drink at least 2 of these a day. Lately I have bought out sprouts and target both. I take a few with me to work each day and also have them at home. Protein is so important because it helps you build muscle. -
Emotionally it is a roller coaster ride. 32 lbs is amazing. Are you single? If so, and I say this in a very serious, supportive tone... take your new you for a new ride on Tinder and see how your responses are. That always cheered me up. If your not single, its still fun to see if you can make your spouse jealous. When they become jealous, you then know that you have done something right.

Portion size 12 days post op
pinkbunies replied to suemag66's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will find out when you start eating more and feel the restriction. Since you just had surgery not to long ago, you really won't be eating any large amounts of anything for a while, no matter how hungry you feel. I think it took me at least 6 to 8 months beforeI felt like I could eat a decent amount. Now I do well to eat a full chicken sandwich from Chick-Fil-a. Usually there is always some left. When my co-workers are with me, they don't order much food because they know I'm not going to finish everything and they have become accustomed to eating the rest lol. Yogurt is one of my favorite foods. I have honestly never tried cottage cheese. When I get a hunger craving now, I eat either yogurt or drink a boldthouse shake which has 32 grams of Protein in it. The shakes/smoothies have a lot of calories but its better than alternatives. -
I have had this problem and what has stopped me is if I eat to much I will throw up. So when I feel the restriction, I know to stop. I do eat often as I work out every single day now and we have found that the problem I now have is I'm not eating enough. So I drink a lot of high calorie, high Protein shakes to help solve this problem. If you aren't throwing up, you are likely not over eating.

The back pain will go away in due time as long as you don't have bad disc or anything. As you lose weight it takes a huge strain off of your back. I'm over 1 year post op now and from time to time I still have some back issues but nothing that some rest hasn't solved.

I realized a few minutes ago that today marks 1 year for me that I took the journey and had the Gastric Sleeve Surgery. It was the best thing I've ever done in my life. 1 year later, I have lost over 100 lbs, have muscle, I am more active and healthy than I have ever been. Memories and flash backs come back as I write this, of the day I came out of surgery and had that gassy feeling like I was going to vomit, or having to put up with the awful diet after the surgery and then I remember how I cheated, had worries about everything and how it all turned out okay. Thanks to everyone on here for your advise as its been much needed and so many questions have been answered on this forum. I thought I was crazy going to Mexico to get this surgery but everything was fine. I'd do it again in heartbeat and as I've said before the only regret I have is that I didnt do it sooner. I look back and realize how much of a lifestyle change I have had since the surgery. I've also become addicted to SOBE drinks thanks to this forum and the suggestions of members. I had trouble getting enough liquids in and someone suggested SOBE and also G2. Protein was another concern I had, however I found that the Bolthouse shakes have been the best for me. I also drink a pre-workout formula before working out. I now workout with a personal trainer once a day, 5 days a week. I'm still working towards that six pack. Hopefully I have it by this time next year or sooner.

Thanks to all. I show people my pictures from Cancun a year ago and then show them my pictures today and they don't even believe it is me.

Congrats. It's an amazing feeling isn't it?

I think i stretched my pouch! Please help
pinkbunies replied to annahdez's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh please. I eat like crazy, small amounts and I highly doubt that my pouch has stretched. I've been losing weight like crazy still. -
I went to the Doctor last week and had blood test done. My Doctor isn't a fan of any weight loss surgery. Anyway the blood tests came back and the Doctor said I had elevated liver enzymes. My doctor told me to stop taking adderall. I also found out my Testosterone was low but the Dr. said not T until 2 weeks and new blood tests. I've been working out three days a week with a personal trainer and sometimes I struggle to get in enough calories. Anyway, has anyone had an issue similar to this after being sleeved?

Wait until you reach one year. My 1 year is coming up very soon. A year ago I never imagined that I'd be this thin or in shape. Hang in there. Regret is normal. Just remember you can't reverse it and just look at it in a common sense way... I always think to myself, I've done this for my health and because I want to live longer.

Elevated Liver Enzymes
pinkbunies replied to pinkbunies's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had an ultra sound today to check for stones. The lady said she didn't see any. She also checked my gall bladder but when I asked her how that looked she said "The Doctor would discuss it with you". So that may be hinting that something is wrong with my Gall Bladder. I have a BCBS Gold Health Insurance Plan with a zero deductible and my plan is being canceled Jan 01, 2016 because BCBS is no longer offering it. So I'm hoping that if I have to have my gall baldder removed that insurance will cover it and it'll be before the end of the year. I've upped my personal training to 5 days a week and I'm gaining muscle fast. I am hoping that the medication isn't the problem but I'd take it over the other causes. -

I know, I'm hoping that all is okay. I find it hard to focus without taking my ADHD medication. -
Has anyone become single as a result of their weight loss surgery?
pinkbunies posted a topic in Singles Forum
Just wondering if anyone has become single as a result of the weight loss from their stomach sleeve? Just wondering if anyone's spouses have become jealous because of the weight loss. -
How many traveled to Mexico alone?
pinkbunies replied to a topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I went to Mexico on my own. I flew in to San Diego and they picked me up, took me across the border and then I had surgery the next day. I felt very safe and would do it again if I had to. The hospital and staff were amazing. I think I received better care in Mexico than I've ever received in the US. -
I am having major issues with acid re flux. I'm taking an acid pill but still have issues. Today I had a few bites of a Mickey D's cheese burger and regretted it majorly afterwards. I've found that oatmeal is really easy for me to eat and it goes down well. i still get in 4 atkins shakes everyday. I sometimes get oatmeal from McDonald's. I figure it can't be that bad as I need the calories. I've starting eating grapes, pineapple and melon. No acid and it goes down smooth. I'm drinking Water and sobe. sugar free of course. I'm getting plenty of exercise. Any food ideas would be awesome.

I was talking to my doctor the the other day and we both agreed that I got more booty when I was fat. Now I'm in a league of people who aren't throwing themselves at me. It's weird.
