  1. In my opinion, when people say... easy way out, they are usually not educated on the matters and have no idea how to be supportive. I have several friends who dropped out of high school and got their GED instead of their High School Diploma. At least two of those people went on to found some pretty big companies. They are still self employed to this date just like me. They both provide at least 300 jobs in the areas they live in. When they said they were quitting high school to get their GED, they were told they were taking the easy way out... that they would not stand a chance at decent employment... because employers would look down on them for getting their GED... in short, a GED says HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA on it... so people were idiots for saying that. I don't have a high school diploma or GED and I've been self employed for 13 years straight now. I'm going to Mexico next week. People have told me... OMG I wouldn't go to Mexico...much less have surgery there... I look at them and tell them that they are racist and idiots. That usually shuts them down. If they continue, I then ask them if they have ever been to Mexico? The answer is always no. I tell them after they have saved for a few years to go. When someone tells me that I took the easy way out, I'm going to look at them... and give them snarky stuck up answers like... yep and I can afford to take the easy way out of everything, can you?
  2. Yes. I've made up my mind. I Just paid for my airline tickets and have paid my deposit. I can't see the downside to being healthier and being thinner. I won't ever have my large size again, but I think I'll be okay. I highly doubt I'll miss it. I have been so insecure for so long about my weight. I got a credit card last month that gives me a $400.00 travel credit but I haven't had any travel to use it towards. So my flight will end up costing me $36.00. I also used miles for the rest of it. Then I got the Chase Saphire card this month and after I spend $3k, I get a $500.00 travel credit... so I'm going to make my credit cards work for me for once. I'm putting the surgery on the chase card, then paying it right off so I meet the amount I have to spend. I guess what will also help offset that is the large credit line from care credit I opened that I'm not using. It'll help keep my utilization perfect.
  3. LOL I got the numbers wrong. $10,900 vs $10,500. Well they both rejected me and said my BMI wasn't high enough. So I'm scheduled for surgery in Mexico this coming week. It sucks that I Can't use care credit in Mexico, but its also half the cost.
  4. I'll give them a try tomorrow. I filled out their 16 pages of forms and sent them back today. I'd prefer not to spend $10,500 if I can avoid it.
  5. So far, I haven't been declined by any of the surgeons I've spoke with. I've made it very clear that I'm not extremely obese and its just something I want. I'm looking at the specials the forum sent me when I signed up. The only part of fat I have is in my mid section. Legs and arms are total muscle... like solid muscle.
  6. I called Dr. Kim's office and the price is $10,900 without any insurance benefits. I know I don't have a hernia and I know my insurance policy won't cover anything related to this. I found that they had a care credit link so I applied online for care credit and put $18,000 in for the total cost and it approved me for $18,000.00... so I guess that's a good thing. I'm weighing the options between going to Dallas or Mexico. Mexico is coming out much cheaper, even with buying the airline tickets. It's a difference of around $7,000. The place in Mexico said they can do next week. The place in Dallas told me 3 months or longer out.
