My Story
Is like anyone who has struggled with weight. It been an issue for me from the age of 22 years old. Prior to that my weight was not an issue was a very active kid and was into sports. However when I hit college, I stop being as active in sports and my weight became my source of pain. My weight yo-yo for years, I tried every diet imaginable out there you name it I did it. However I would always lose the weight and put it back on and then some. The last thing I tried before decided to have weight loss surgery was HGC diet. I went to a doctor weekly who provided HGC shots that I had to take daily. I did 2 rounds over a period of 2 months of it and manage to get my weight down to 163 pounds. However you know the story after I stopped I put back on the weight and more. During that time I also discovered I had a Thyroid issue which was not helping me with my weight loss. I was working closely with my primary doctor about my weight. We discussed weight loss surgery. I never even through it would be an option for me because at that time I only knew of Lap band and Bypass which I would never do because I was not personally comfortable about it. However I had a co-worker who had the surgery ( Gastric sleeve) this surgery to me was different and I felt this could be for me. I could not believe her results and I talked to her about her my issue and that's when the miracle happened I was referred to Dr. Vohra and staff. That changed my life forever. I spoke with my primary doctor and we both agreed this would possible be an option a tool for me to loss weight. I was so focus and I knew this was right for me no regrets, because of the amazing screening etc that Dr. Vohra team did I had discovery I has outside health issue that needed to get address ( kidney stone, failing kidney) if I did not make this decided I would of ended up in the hospital with the other issue. So I was able to correct and deal with my kidney issue and was finally schedule for my surgery date November 13th, 2014. I called it my second birthday, that was the day I was reborn again. Now I will tell everyone at times it was not easy, however I would not change it for anything, I wish I did it sooner. I tell anyone you have to be committed to want to make a change, only you can decided that.No one can make that decision for you. You have to me ready emotional and mentally. Now currently at almost 2 years since I had my gastric sleeve surgery I weight 177 pounds from 246 pounds. I have not hit my goal weight yet of 150 pounds however I'm not discourage, I know part of me not hitting the goal is my Thyroid and my eating habit and lack of exercise. However I'm going to change that. I will make my goal believe me one day at a time.
